Your video tipped the scales for me. I was all set to order black bow ties until I saw the rear was adhesive tape. You made it look easy enough. The fishing line was a nice touch. Thank you.

I’m glad I found this video a month after I bought the bowtie. I ended up having a replace my tailgate so now that I have my new one installed I’m ready to tackle this. Just got my tape all down getting ready to start. Thank you brother can’t wait to see what it looks like on my truck.👍

Thanks, helpful video. Placing the tape first is a good idea- then you have the precise location when you re-apply.

For anyone squeamish about pulling the back one, just get some 1 or 2 mil plastic sheeting and masking tape. mask off the back of the truck with the plastic and painters tape on the chrome. Then spray it with 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of gloss black in a shady area where nothing is likely to fall on it. That's what I did, and it was quicker than this method. Though I imagine it is a bit more expensive than a new bowtie and whatever you spent to remove the old adhesive.

Ya I got something easier and cheaper way… It’s called Plastidip😂😂😂 $10 can and done Mask around the bow tie like in video… spray a light coat evenly left and right… wait 5 min Repeat about 4 times And done Peel excess around the bow tie carefully and away from it and done…

Thanks for this video too - especially the one previously on the front bow tie .. but this back one scares me to be honest.. I'm afraid I'd never get all that adhesive off before sticking the new one on .. !

Priv Info it is worse than it seems. I should I have pulled off bigger bits first. Goo Gone will take it all off though. You just don’t need as much tape as I used. I’d change that if I do it again for someone.

Awesome video, I was able to get my rear Malibu bowtie off with a credit card

Just in time for me to get mine done.

I bought 3M black cabon fiber tape off of amazon,( it comes on a roll like Xmas paper). Cut out a piece bigger than the emblem and put it on, and cut around the edges with a exacto blade. Looks way better than the matte black in my opinion and you get to keep the good stock adhesive.

Simply beautiful

I personally like the gold ! I did put white overlays on my white 06 Tbss though

@@ronaldhillstrand9797ya I was gonna order oem chevy center caps and they wanted $200 e😂😂🎉 looked on eBay and found them for less then $50 . I would stay away from dealerships and even do your own oil change. I started doing mine when I noticed my oil was dark and low and when I drained the oil, 3 qts came out instead of the usual 6 qts that’ it needs and last person who touched my truck was Chevy dealer for the oil change … never again and been doing my oil changes ever since on all my cars

Do you know is the Chevy Colorado tailgate bowtie the same as the Silverado and glued on I’m looking to replace it with black one

Good video. The front looks easy enough to replace, but that rear one with glue (what were they thinking??) gives me heartburn. On the fence about doing it myself. May have to call the dealer just to see... (my Avalanche is similar)

Yep still on and looking good. No issues with adhesive whatsoever. I’m also in South Texas where the summers are unforgiving :)

None. The 3M adhesive is extremely strong. You can wipe with rubbing alcohol and let dry to prepare your surface better after you remove old emblem

Yes if it has glue or adhesive. You should be able to do the same with any dealer emblem they stick on the rear or car too

I would actually leave the back emblem off, looks cleaner that way

It sticks well? No issues running through a car wash?

The Meel no issues at all. The adhesive is the same you get from factory when you get your gold bow tie that’s already stuck on truck. My truck resides in Texas so heat is not an issue either. I have been through many car washes with no issues.

I bought them from Craigslist...Local seller worked at Chevy Dealership. I got them for decent discount. I think I paid $75 for pair. Best place is from Dealer or Amazon. I have a link attached on my front bow tie video. I will add the link to this video too. Thanks for reminding me.

seth johnson if you dont want to spend a lot you can always tape off with blue tape and put plastidip or black spray paint and clear coat over top. I saw these on Amazon as a front and rear set for $129.97 in black. I can't find pink. Can I buy a good shiny spray can in pink and color them? With using the boarder blue tape to not get the chrome painted??

Yes you can paint it just make sure you put a nice clear coat over it to protect your pink paint. For the front emblem take it off before you start painting and with the rear bowtie be very careful and mask off with newspaper and blue tape

Link is in description and they are the OEM ones :) rear stuck with no problems and is still attached. We have extreme heat in the summers and no issues at all.

I took all the letters off my Silverado. I feel like it looks much better. Now I’m just waiting on my black bow tie emblems to come in from china. Not paying $150 for OEM replacement when I can get the same part from china for $35.

ABC ABC everyone who has a white truck in the parking lots near me has GOLD. So I like to be able to find mine faster especially when everyone in Texas seems to have a truck. Haha. Plus With my tint and rain guards the BLACK stands out better as well. To each their own.

I actually prefer the black emblems, even on my blue (Deep Ocean Metallic) truck. They look sick!

Waste of Time I masked it of and painted them both front and back .5 dollars for paint!

I know several people that have painted their emblems and they look great if you take care masking. PlastiDip black provides a satin smooth flat finish that looks very professional.

@@chrisgraham2904 the emblem has a molded diamond texture so you don't want to put more than one coat or you'll lose that texture.

That glue is a bitch took me an hour to get it off
