I’ve said it many times: base building in Subnautica is a game in and of itself. It’s what one keeps doing after one finished the story and discovered everything. Very nice build man!

Just imagine if Leviathans acknowledged the player when they are in a base. They wouldn't attack, but one day you would be walking past a window and a Reaper's face would be right up against the glass.

This man just one upped the classic James Bond villain with a shark tank in the lair, mans got a whole drop off with a reaper Leviathan

I really like the added danger of this base, like how if you’re trying to repair your seamoth and slip and fall into the moon pool, there is a not insignificant chance that you will just die.

they just so angy, all the time! beautiful base though. absolutely love all of the attention to the little details that make it look so amazing.

I always enjoy checking out other people's bases. In my own play, I go simple and small, roleplaying survival, so I don't go overboard unless I have to.

Who needs an observatory when you can just swim up and say hi?

That’s an impressive build. My main go-to build is literally just four multipurpose rooms stacked on top of one another, with a nuclear in the bottom, an alien containment above that, the main work room above that, and a bed at the very top.

Ty! I usually like my base to "follow" the terrain and look well integrated with it.

In my first playthrough I built my "main base" in almost this exact spot (I chose the higher ledge about 10m from your base). The reaper wasn't there though, it was about 200m to the north. I could see it but it never came near my base. The crevasse to the left was perfect for the Cyclops to sit once I eventually built it.

It's tricky to create a base there in such a way that it makes sense, that is, that it's far away enough so that you can see the entire tree and close enough to see the details, because the tree itself is huuuge. I will do that eventually though. I first have to make some Below Zero bases first.

It’s amazing that you also did this in Survival, I plan on making a video about an observation area for the sea treaders but I will probably do it in creative

Man this is the first time I seen someone play this game with the intent of showing what the viewer would want to see rather than themselves

Literally where I put my 2nd base lol mine is a tiny little shrimp house comparatively tho Very impressive, I love the decoration with the plants and all the seating areas with good views. And ya gotta love Mark sittin on the desk lol

Well, with a Stasis Rifle, and about 10-13 gas pods in it's face, you can easily make the reaper the reaped.

congrats for your work ! I intenses building such a base, behind the Aurora, in the Mesa biome. But for some reason, the Reaper left at some moment while I was building. Do you have any idea why ?

Ty! The Reaper despawned even for me during construction of this base. The longer you stay in an area, there is greater chance of Reaper chasing something and ending up below the seafloor. I had to respawn this one. Sometimes they come back if you leave area far enough and come back later.

I didnt built my base for nothing ^^ I spent some time far from there (Went to the Blood Kelp rift and and Mountain area), didnt work so far. On an another topic, I was thinking on a Leviathan trap : what if you build some foundation with packs of tiger plant in it (nothing more, or at least, nothing above), and lure a reaper just near, in order to see the plant attack it ? Just an idea I will test, if you want to test aswell.

Do you have any nice base spots for Below Zero? There are plenty of nice places in Subnautica for base locations, but in Below Zero i just don't think most of the biomes are great for base locations.

Will you do any obsveratorys for below zero or not?

Would be nice addition if you could tame them completely. You can feed them several fish to make them passive for a short period of time though.

I don't know why you bother with these elaborate bases when you can clearly just go outside and observe them directly. :P (Really though, this is quite well done. If this were an official asset in the game I wouldn't even blink. But man, you either need sound-proofing or balls of steel to give a presentation in that briefing room with a Reaper at your back...)

Everything will respawn if killed by the environment (hazards like lava or other creatures) but will not respawn if killed by the player. Only small fish like peepers and bladderfish will respawn if killed by the player

Leviathans won’t respawn if killed by the player, with the exception of the ghosts in the dead zone. I don’t know about any of the smaller predators.

It depends. Leviathan class life forms don’t respawn if killed by the player (although some people have said that the game updating has caused them to respawn). For smaller creatures, there is a reproduction system built into the game, so they will keep respawning pretty regularly unless you kill all of them in an area and also find/kill the ones that hatch from eggs that were already in nests. And those creatures *may* still get respawned in the future anyway, you’ll just cut down their numbers for a good amount of time.

How did you rotate the moon pool?

In Subnautica you can't. You either start the base by building it first, or you ever so slightly move the compartments to which you wanna attach the Moonpool, so that it's predetermined layout gets reset to other orientation. In Below Zero, the Moonpool can be rotated like any other base piece.

To be honest, once you learn how it becomes quite trivial. When they charge you move up and in the sequence move down. They always attack you the very same way.

Orientation is predetermined by some random factor and can't be changed unless you decostruct all the base modules. The best way to combat this is to start building from the Moonpool.

I biuld this but the reaper is chilling in the kelp forest and the safe shallows behind me😢😢

Ok lets be real its better to build a base in a safe area with no leviathan class
