Nice discourse! The married couple reminded of the Stars Arundhati because it signifies that the married should adjust to each other for a prosperous long life. Only Arundhati stars move freely independent of other (great discovery by Indian Rishis without a telescope many thousands of years). Whereas in other stars, one is fixed & the other is moving around the fixed (rigid partner giving no freedom to the other, generally females). This is a success story of very long married life of a poorest of the poor in India but a billionaire of other parts of the world comes on a stage and he never boasts that he is a billionaire but he is indeed proud to proclaim that he is married to a single woman for the last 20 or 25 years.

This explanation is very profound and I thank the community and Swami for offering to the world. The guided meditation 🧘‍♀️ was illuminating, the quality of sound dips but was still very helpful. Can anyone point me in the direction of a KZread video by Swami that replicates this meditation with better sound, or one that is a little longer. A deep 🙇‍♂️ bow of gratitude from a Scottish Buddhist and student of Swami on KZread.

After negating the five sheaths one by one methodically as "I Am not this... I Am not this', what remains ultimately is the very SELF that I AM, which can never be negated. The ONE, who is capable of negating everything cannot negate ONESELF. Everyone do have the feeling or sense of "I AM", the subtlest and sublime 'feeling' that I EXIST. Even this feeling or sense only points out towards SOMETHING, which cannot be explained. Stay at this POINTED "feeling'' of "I AM" and do not try to catch IT. Then what remains is ABSOLUTE STILLNESS AND SILENCE. THIS IS WHAT WE ARE!

that is a very well explanation for what Patanjali writes in his Yoga Sutras , very well explained , neti - neti . , if i am not wrong this is also a meditation method called vipassana ( please correct me if i am wrong i am not that smart and advanced as the speaker , so i need patient guidance , if someone could be that nice to explain it i would appreciate it very much . ) maybe i will get it after the video ( i made a break in the middle because of this thought i had about Patanjali . this is the second video i see from your channel ( i saw part one of it yesterday and i am very pleased with that content , just go ahead and give us more of it you are doing a great and very important work with the supply of these kind of videos . do you attach any kind of yoga sadhanna ( except the jnana yoga you already gave us in these speech ) , i talk about Ha Tha yoga and the shaiva shakta kashmiri tradition , i could identify them or that at once as it points so well to the One thing ( let me call it that way here ) which is like he said Neti - Neti not these not that . the concept of the 5 Koshas is also a part of Ha Tha yoga as we see our physical practice or sadhanna as a way to clean us as long as it takes to let Sat - Cit Ananda shine through fully without any filter , that we refer to when we say Tat Tvam Asi or Shivo Ham or Om Tat Sat . i could sit here the whole day and night and listen to the metaphors and poems of that kind , really great that you have made it the content of your channel and excuse my lack of english skills , i am in germany right now but i get more and more used to english because of the videos , the best ones are all in english . If you have a branch of your order or community or how you ever want to call it , here in germany please let me know where i can find you , that would be great as except the contact to my yoga teacher there is no opportunity of a real sat sang with a mighty speaker like Swami here on that footage . i already asked for a teaching of Tripura Rahasya if you already have one ( great ) or you maybe have it as a future project ( also great ) please let me know , it is one of the best teachings with the same "subject " like here in that video ( i think subject is the wrong term but how do you want to call the un callable , let´s call it Shiva - according to Jaggi Vasudev the translation of Shiva is " that which is not " Do you know any physical present Sat Guru of that path ? the last one i remember is Ramana Maharshi , Papaji , Mooji , my last Guru Babaji thought us love, truth and simplicity by Karma yoga und nam Jap or nama jappa ( chanting om namah shivay or any other names of god all the time ) off course that is another approach , it is the bhakti path but i feel that this is not that well for me i feel a much greater attraction by the pure gems of advaita vedanta ( maybe this is a lila of my Maya or an ego influenced decision ( also Maya ) , i got humble ( at least i hope that ) over the years after my yoga teacher education ( it took me a long time to identify the spiritual ego parts in me and to have them in focus in order not to go the wrong path - but as already mentioned it is again my Maya ) . later i will examine your channel a little bit to see what you have already here , again thank you very much for these content it means very much to me and is of incalculable value for me spiritually . Om Tat Sat

One more reason to prove you are not the body is as follows: If a person loses a limb like hand or foot he or she does not feel a fraction of one's old self. One's 'I' is always the WHOLE one. How can that which is whole all the time be same as that which can be fragmented?

Bharat Pokharia if one loses the mind, i would think, one would no longer need this because one no longer has a mind to use to divide the world. However, if one can say they lose the mind, isnt that the same as losing ur hand or limb? One cannot lose oneself but one can lose the mind or hand etc. ultimately, none of those things are you. Same as a house, the house cannot lose itself, but it can get rid of the furniture or acquire new furniture. how can the mind be you if the mind is not permanent? it, just like the rest of the body, is constantly in state of change and eventually comes to an end. so where is u? the bhramin is the comstamt substance that all come from according to the hindus. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hG2kx8-JeaXOfKg.html

About the question at 46:20 [Difficulty understanding how to go past my mind/intellect when I'm using the mind & intellect themselves] This question has profound answers hidden in itself. Swami has clarified it nicely in the little time he had. Some more pointers for further clarifications. So, "How can I go past the mind when I'm using the mind itself to do so!" 1) You cannot. The more mind you use, the more mind you 'create'! It's all thoughts. You cannot go past thoughts by thinking more thoughts. That, however, is not the idea anyway. We need to use the mind/intellect to understand that which we are trying to find - the Self (or I). Understanding the Self would only mean intellectual appreciation that can help to realise it in time. In this particular case, we are using the mind to understand these objects (five sheaths) that we negate as the not self! So, there's no need to go past anything as such. Although Yoga/meditation can take you past your thoughts, it's not needed. Just see how each of the five sheaths cannot be the 'I' in you. 2) The main point is: Who/What wants to go past the mind? Who is that 'I' that wants to go past its own mind? Who is using the mind/intellect in trying to do so? That 'I' is the very self you are looking for. Obviously, it cannot be that you are here and your 'I' lies past your mind, and beyond that blankness state. Your 'Self' is right there where you are because you are that 'Self'! This equation will not change even if you somehow went past the mind and blankness after years of meditation. Whether you are on this side of the mind or that, wherever you are, your Self is there, because 'You Are That' (Tat Tvam Asi)! Thus, looking for my Self ( = I ) outside of myself is obviously not going to work. Because the one who's searching is the very one being searched for. This exactly is the message of the 10th man story.

I have a question Can I know if I am universal consciousness, why cant I experience other minds and body present ? Why I feel limited when I try to experience ?

  • @gameone6597

    @gameone6597

    2 жыл бұрын

    1) Because the real You (the Atman) are the Universal Consciousness not the Universal Mind! Understanding That is the whole point of Neti Neti, (not this, not this), not the body not the mind etc! 2) The 'I' that you are talking about, is the one that experiences through one body etc, that is, the Individual mind. 3) Actually, if you look closely, you (and everyone commonly) have already defined your 'I' as that local individual experiencer! Then asking why it is not the universal experiencer is odd. So this, common, definition of 'I' is simply based on the 'instruments' of experience which is the Avidya / Moha / error. 4) Individual Mind + Atman = Jiva. Universal Mind + Atman = Ishwara. Mind / body is inert Prakriti / material objects, combination of Five elements. Atman is Consciousness. 5) Same consciousness running through Mind1/ I1, Mind2/ I2, ...... And through the universal Mind. That consciousness you are. 6) For practical understanding, just forget the 'I' for sometime. Just observe closely all the experience available right now, all the world, the sounds, the lights, colours, heat/cold, presence of the body, the thoughts, the 'I-ness' residing somewhere in the body mind! Then think where am 'I' in all this!!! If you do it properly, you'll quickly see that 'I' am the basis of all the world, including body mind, which is being experienced!

Swami jee, dandwat pranam. To me the essence of this talk lies in example of 10 friends, out of which, one counts all others but leaving himself/herself. In essence, it is consciousness, which brings to our notice our intellect, mind, body and everything in us except something which we are unable to objectify and it is what you are. And this may be termed as Consciousness, Atman what ever. " you are the one who gives light to others" Tenth man is the one who sees the other nine. I needed to watch this in slow motion, dwelling over his speech. Hope I understood it right, Regards.

Pain is part of the body-mind system that draws the attention for appropriate action. It is just like the dashboard of the car drawing our attention for low fuel, check engine, etc. Imagine the plight of your car without these indicators. So is the pain felt by the body-mind system. Suffering on account of pain is due to the ignorance of one identofying with the body-mind complex.

Kutasthha, Achyut! 2) Guna guneshu vartante! Everything is 'happening' in the plane of Maya / Prakriti which is actually not present in its substrate, the Atman. 3) Prakriti / Combination of Gunas - Sattva, etc. moves in the presence of Atman. 4) Jiva, that is, the Mind lighted-up by the Atman does Purushartha, not the Atman. There's no Purushartha for the Atman. 5) Atman (the real you) is neither the Seer nor the Seen. It is that which makes Seeing / Experiencing possible. In it the seer & seen appear to exist (within the plane of Maya). 6) The power or potentially of Brahman / Atman is Maya. Intellect etc are spawned by that power called Maya.

@@gameone6597 Thank you for your beautiful and deeply insightful response! Correct me if I am wrong... Purushartha is being done by the Jiva (which is synonymous with buddhi i think 🤔 right ?), and Jiva is one part Purusha and one part Prakriti (?) Therefore it is Maya/Prakriti that is exerting purushartha to realize Purusha(?) So its the mind exerting effort to do sadhana, not the Atman... What then influences the mind to do self effort or to be lazy? Does Atman influence the behavior of buddhi/jiva at all or is it all a play of Maya? If all is Maya then what is free will? How i can i exert influence on something if i have no vantage point apart from that? Is purushartha not based in Purusha? I apologize for any lack of ability to comprehend on my part. Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom! Hari Om

1:05:10 ... it is called Shiva - that which is not , similar to what is behind every layer to emptiness and beyond ( i got that translation of the name and term Shiva as " that which is not " from a video of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev from the isha foundation , 90 % of our universe is nothing , simply emptiness or absence of being only 10 % if not less are mirroring light as light needs an object which reflects it and further physiks say that an observer is necessary too in order to witness the smallest particles in our universe the basic stuff of our sense-able world otherwise they do not appear so it is scientifically proven that there must be an observer to bring something into existence . Jaggi Vasudev further explains that what is not is aspiring to become existent and vice versa ( i still have to figure this out for me i am not clear about that claim ) .. so there is which is not and Shakti ( maya or everything what we call existence perceivable by our senses and our assumptions the mind and everything which can be observed . Shiva without Shakti does not work , Shakti without Shiva would not come into existence because there would be nothing which would observe her ( phenomenas called world or every-thing ) the big Topic for us is Kundalini Shakti and proper ways to awake Shakti and lead she through Shushumna nadi towards the highest witness the observer and that which is not unifies with that which is everything , b00m Om namah Shivay this is very well explained in the book The Serpent Power by Arthur Avalon aka Sir John Woodroffe ( it is the only known description of our system of Chakras , Shakti and Shiva , it is called Sat Chakra Nirupana )

Shiva/Shakti - or any such duality and things like Kundalini and such - is not Advaita Vedanta. Here, Shiva is the cosmic creator and Brahman is beyond the creator

the observed behavior of particles in experiments like the double-slit experiment could be related to the concept from Advaita Vedanta philosophy that everything is made of Brahman and that the universe is being observed by a conscious being, such as God or Ishvara. ?????

What you are currently aware of is consciousness + your mind (ego). This attachment with the ego separates us. Once we get rid of the mind, what remains is pure consciousness, which is the same for all. Once you touch that reality, you no longer exist, what exists is just that.

But the pain is just electrical signal to the brain to feel pain. When we watch a movie and its scary , our heart might race. Is the character part of us . No. But if we attach to the character it effects us, just like the body.

The Swami concludes consciousness being conscious of itself. Don’t get obsessed with and chained to OBJECTS of our consciousness. Rupert Spira puts being aware of being aware. Our world is projected by our own consciousness. Advaita redefines I as pure consciousness and not body or mind projected by our consciousness. I am not body with awareness. I am awareness experienced through a body.
