I'm not sure how we decided to put a chair in our kitchen when we moved in, but now it's so important to me - we call it the sous chef's chair because our cat will come hang out on it whenever someone's cooking - and it's cute, and it doubles as a step ladder!

23:08 It's a Calathea Lancifolia, also known as the rattlesnake plant. The pot is from Bergs which is a Danish brand that designs Italian terracotta pots, that are handmade in Tuscany. I know because I have five of their pots myself! I imagine the Italian design is why your sister gave it to you, to remind you of Parma.

Two things: 1) YES to the chair in the kitchen. So many kitchens are too tiny to do "eat in" or "breakfast bar" areas, but a chair is great for friends, and, well, me. I do like to cook and bake, and sometimes I just want to sit in a chair in my kitchen and read. 2) I get great Rachel Green vibes from you... like, "Rachel Green but make her modern and relatable and unscripted and much more grounded." I appreciate what you're putting out.

I also pray to the Magic Eraser gods 🙌🏼 they genuinely are magic. When you mentioned that your dog doesn't live with you anymore and you don't want to to talk about it, I felt it so much. My boyfriend of 7 yrs and I split recently and the dog we raised together for 5 years is staying with him and it's the one aspect of the breakup that I literally cannot talk about without having a breakdown. It feels like losing both your best friend and your own shadow.

Loving it so far. That slim IKEA storage idea may be perfect for shoe storage in your room to free up more space in your wardrobe - exciting!

You’ve got a unique style, both in design and personality. It’s refreshing to see on KZread because I watch my share of interior design videos for inspiration for my home’s evolving style and there’s soooo much trend in retail being shopped, filmed and uploaded to KZread. I feel influenced by the wrong influencers at times. I was frustrated today with my failed attempts at styling a few things I had recently DIY’ed and sat down with a cup of hot tea, hoping to find some inspiration from KZread. Your video was on my IPad’s KZread homepage, so I watched and I’m glad I did. Your humor cheered me up and caused me to laugh out loud several times, especially your comments accompanying the pantry set-ups, which I’ve been intimidated in the past when seeing similar pantry photo-spreads and thought longingly, “if only”. I appreciate your sarcasm on those ultra-organized pantries and am adopting your more lighthearted outlook, including mistakes on paint color selection. I have similar structured mindsets to yours (it’s some form of anal retentiveness 😧, I’m guessing) like grouping “threesies” as I call them, and insisting on height, color and texture variation when accessorizing until I get to the point of wanting to embrace minimalism because I can’t get an area looking perfect by my standards. At least you’ve learned the art of humor and apply it generously to the subject of interior design. I appreciate the fresh perspective. Great job on your video! Your home has good architectural bones and great potential, so I wish you luck and thank you for your “appropriate” influence today.

You're so fun to watch, your apartment is beautiful now but I can't wait to see it evolve. The plant your sister bought you is a Calathea Lacifolia or Rattlesnake Calathea. They like lower light and higher humidity but this calathea is one of the easier ones to keep happy.

thank you! yeah i think its kind of unconventional to have the table there and i do wish i could have an armchair there at times, but it just feels right to have a separate dining area!

Your space has so much personality! Very refreshing to see decor that's not white and beige and neutral toned and drab. I feel like so much interior design content I come across is all about what's currently trendy which is the absence of all color and joy. 😬 Your place is spectacular so far, can't wait to see more! You and I share the exact same style. (Im a vintage junkie.) So when I saw that first apartment I immediately connected with it. And when I saw the other places you toured, I was immediately turned off by them for the same reasons you were turned off. Sometimes you just gotta follow your heart. Your home is your sanctuary and it needs feel 100% comfortable. So Im glad you made the right choice. I love it!

Put your cream,cozy throw over most of your floral chair for now,it may not clash as much as you think.( it looks like a classic Waverly fabric stitched in crewel work)

Love your linen cabinet. Do a pretty peel and stick wallpaper for your bathroom, its renter friendly! Ooh, definitely paint the alcove a dramatic color!! Can't wait to see how your new place evolves. Also your chairs make a nice counterpoint to the more masculine chunky table.

I love the category of updates you can make to a standard rental - though not sure how motivated i'd be to paint and change back hardware before leaving. But if do more ideas like removeable wallpaper i'd be down to experiment. Styling hacks for each season could be fun - even like what if you offered to virtually help a subscirber redo a small room over zoom? that would be fun / cant tell you how many times ive wanted your input on what to do w my bedroom decor to just make it that extra notch put together. Anyhow ill stop talking now! Bascially anything that can teach us interior design and how to implement it ourselves.

Put your sweaters on skinny shelving you’re getting. Put a big beautiful art piece above fireplace.

The old man looks a lot like Santa! Love it. He has kind eyes, maybe he’s watching to see if you’ve been good or bad and trying to catch you being good (ha). Rando: your forehead is fine. You should see mine. I keep watching because you’re entertaining, plus you constantly blowing my mind, the way you state things in a way I can finally, finally, finally grasp. Tension was a revelation. With this video, explaining the Rule of threes by saying, Tall, med, short/ horizontal or Height, Texture, depth --amazing. I agree fully with your chair revolution; I started it a year ago with my stool tucked under my table (islands are unforgiving, too tall, and make my kitchen feel unfriendly by blocking the space). Glad you’ve joined! Question: why do you have the same fabric I’m holding and debating using in my blue dining room? And why isn’t it in your moms house? Perfect for her. That warm white looks really good with the yellowy cream color of the mats in the art, and with your skin tone. I’d leave it. The plant is wow. I’d like to know what it is, too. I don’t like vanities for the same reason you don’t like your face stuff down by the plumbing or floor, but I didn’t know why until you said it. I feel like if I could manage it , I’d want your words living inside my brain for a few weeks. It *might* be hormonal, or leftover stress chemicals from PTSD/ depression, but I don’t often think well lately. Thanks for these life changing moments, which make me feel whole again, and laugh.

It’s fun to watch your design choices and see the transformations but the best thing about your channel is your personality. I love how you own your opinions, aren’t afraid to make mistakes, and you are so very funny. I find myself wanting to catch every moment of your videos to catch whatever funny tidbit might come out of your mouth. The humor that you bring to my day (and surely to many other people too) I think in and of itself is an important contribution to the world. So keep being you because it matters! Wishing you well in this new chapter!

I like the shelfs that go over toilet, easy to assemble and u can put towls etc on it.

I know this is an old video, but I just wanted to say thank you! I really needed to hear "I will never get bent out of shape about paint". I just painted the bathroom in my rental a dark blue color and keep worrying that it's too dark or that my paint job isn't perfect. But it's just paint! It's not that expensive and not that hard to redo it later if I still don't like it!
