Looking at that Radio Shack meter brings back memories for me. That was the first meter I bought back in the early 90s when I first go in to the CB. Those older Realistic CB radios from the late 70s and early 80s were good talkers after they were peaked and clipped. I knew someone I talked to back in the early 90s that had a TRC-427 mobile and it was a good talker in their mobile. The TRC-457 base was a great sounding radio too. I started out with a TRC-434 Navajo base station. It had a number keypad for the channels instead of a channel knob.

HAHA! Yep you got it! 1991! My favorite of the low country purchases! BTW 1994 is when they started putting "Radio shack" on CB's and phasing out Realistic. By 1995 it was complete.

I have 2 TRC421. I bought them new in the late 70s. One has upper and lower channels I had installed. Great old radios. They still work great to this day. Thanks for posting this video.

Back in 1984 my first radio contact with a gentleman named The Fonz and he sounded like he was in the room with me no matter where I was on my walkie-talkie so I asked him what kind of microphone is he using he told me he was using a stock microphone that came with the radio he was running a realistic 458 base station with a stock microphone I thought he was yanking my chain 6 months go by I'm start talking to him he started breaking up I had 3 stock microphone so I told him I had he could have he was 7 minutes walk away from where I was working he pick it up and plugged in the microphone and started to talking to me that's when I knew he wasn't joking about his microphone WOW He recommended a technician I went off to see him with my 457 forget the same modification done and I sound better than any d104 silver eagle or golden eagle are anything from Turner if something went wrong with my microphone it was simply find somebody with an extra stock mic for $2 at the time worst case scenario $21.50 at Radio Shack

I Agree, if the radio is properly tuned, You only need a stock mic.. Thanks for watching, 73's

John, I have two 465 radios. One is for parts and the other works great. If you need a parts rig let me know. The 465 and the PC-122 are my favorite rigs. 73! Brandon 497 😎

To fix that segment. It's a large one-piece with the modulation meter. It's the same as what is in the cobra 19 plus or 25 plus. One of those plus models.

I think it was the TRC-467? base set that had the same board as the President Madison. Friend of mine had one and it was a talker. Test the meter on a couple other antennas. Thanks for the video. :)
