According to Marcelito, he discovered he can sing in two or different voices when he was 18 years old. What is more impressive is he didn't have any professional training, a self taught artist, who perfected his skill.

It's my understanding that as a young boy Marcelito enjoyed imitating his favorite female singers, mostly Celine Dion. Then when his voice started to change as he got older he just kept on imitating his favorite female singers in same voice he had always used. Somehow by doing that managed to keep his upper register while at the same time adding on the lower male register. So he ended up with the ability to do both.

Many people dismissed Marcelito as "just mimicking" singers. No one mentioned his ability to learn by ear. I could listen to my favorite songs a dozen times and I still sing off key in the shower. Marcelito's ability to get the notes, the tone, the singing techniques and the pronunciation of words in multiple languages down by just listening to the music on radio is his true talent. Of course, his voice is beautiful but his ear is extraordinary IMO. Nice review BTW.
