    As a customer service person, I can vouch for the "be nice to the help". I will do everything in my power to try to get you what you want as long as you're nice and polite, but the instant you turn ugly or get an attitude of entitlement, it's over. I'll get a manager I know will say no, and that's your final answer. So be nice to the employees; that should be your default anyway. We're overworked and underpaid and take a lot of abuse that we really shouldn't have to.

    As someone who has worked in customer service and tech support for a few years, I can assure you, being nice to the support will assuredly help you out. I’ve waived soo many fees because we finally had someone not screaming at me for fees that are the customers fault. However, the one suggestion saying to yell at the phone, is not accurate. Most companies do not have that function and, they’ve started releasing policies to agents that customers getting irate, or yelling or cussing, can be given warning then hung up on. So if you call back, then you’ll be right back in queue waiting double the time. Even still, just be a decent human being cause often times, I give credits or minor refunds to people who are nice to me, and those that are screaming or cussing, we have the “you were told this upon performing this action so the fees remain” and most don’t know, but the manager often backs up their reps so asking for the manager is often useless

    @@jwdt7828 When I complain and call Corporate, I know where the blame lies (with the driver) and I am very nice and understanding with the person I'm speaking to. As for the drivers, they have a job to do and they are to be held responsible. My problem has been with the driver.

    Exactly what my point is! I've been working as a customer for several years and I still do to this day and I can guarantee you that we prefer to help those people who are being nice and we'll do an extra mile if you keep it that way. All you have to do is to treat us like a normal human being.

    Many years ago as a teacher, I brought my class to a cider mill and we watched the assembly line filling bottles. Then the line was stopped, and the roll of labels was changed from a supermarket brand to a high-end national brand. The line resumed, filling the bottles with the same juice. That taught my class something quite valuable!

    @@nabino You're asking me to think back 50 years, but I think the supermarket brand was Shurfine, and I do remember that the other brand was Del Monte. Local IGA stores sold Shurfine.

    Look at all the 'different' types of Aleve, as well as their competitors. They are almost all the same, but use the term arthritis or migraine to make people pay more since it's labeled as such.

    @@jenniedarling3710 In New England, the word "cider" has been used for both regular apple juice and the fermented (alcoholic) variety. Alcoholic cider is called "hard cider". That particular mill had been there processing local apples for over 100 years and had "cider" in its name, but at the time of our visit was only making juice.

    I can vouch that talking to customer service nicely and asking for a discount code can and often does work. I had a need to buy a particular software program. There were free versions of similar software but I found this program to be far superior to anything else I'd seen out there. But it was also kind of spendy and I was tight on funds. So I emailed them, gushed about how much I loved their program, and asked if by chance they had a discount code for like 10 - 15% off. To my surprise, they sent me a code for 35% off.

    My sister in law got a discount on her Adobe subscription (she's a photographer). She was low on cash and was considering dropping her subscription to save on the monthly expense. In a move to make her stay, they offered a huge discount. She's still getting that discounted price years later.

    I've often watched delivery drivers walk up my front steps not with my parcel but rather with the unable to deliver card in their hands, then when I open the door they've tried feeding my a load of BS that they knocked minutes before only to go silent when I tell them something that they've done since pulling into my street

    I had that "attempted delivery" scam done on me. I'm 69 and handicapped. I do not leave my apartment. On the day I KNEW he was coming, I was actually sitting by my picture window waiting for him. Then the "attempted delivery" three times in a row. I complained to upper management and finally got it delivered! Oh, did I mention it was FedEx?

    WOW !!! Something similar: I know of someone who had the same thing happen to him with UPS just a few days ago. He ggota message on his doorknob explaining that they tried to deliver the package but were unable to because no one was there to receive it. Well, the item he'd ordered wasn't *that* expensive, so, he was baffled to get that note. My friend called the delivery company, and, they found his package somewhere in a corner of their warehouse, all beaten up. Before they found it, though, the lady was told by the delivery man how he (deliverer) never had the package on his truck - he hadn't even seen it. The lady helping my friend on the phone said the package was undeliverable now because of its condition - my friend told her to have it delivered anyway. She in turn checked out the contents to see if there were any damages to it - none present. So, she told my friend how it was going to be delivered the next day. Hmph!!! I gess having to meet that "delivery quota" runs throughout the whole "network" of delivery companies.

    I once got a scam that said i was a lucky person a nd could win a 50,000$ card for ANYTHING!. It turned out, after a couple seconds in it, you get, umm, Pictures of lady parts, i dont know how else to explain it, i tried to exit and got a pop-up that 5 VIRUSES WERE INFECTING MY PHONE!!!!!!!YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW SCARED I WAS!!!!!!!! I IMEDIATLY CLOSED THE TAB BUT I WAS SWEATING!!!!!! I IMEDIATLY CALLED MY FRIEND WHAT HAPPENED AND TOLD ME IT WAS.............................a scam. The virus pop up was a scam. WHY THE F*CK DID THEY DO THAT??!!?! I WAS FU**ING HAVING A HEART ATTACK!!!! Oh, did i mention it was from KZread? F**K YOU KZread SCAMMERS!!

    I've been swindled because of UPS more than once. FedEx never still hasn't caught on, but UPS realized that I have cameras, so they make some lame excuse that the address is wrong or some crap. Even though they just delivered to it the day before. Needless to say, this has resulted in me blacklisting at least 3 or 4 major web sellers because they didn't want to see that the courier was scamming everyone.

    FedEx did similar to me not too long ago but it was actually delivered but was delivered to the wrong apartment. Amazon often gets a bad rap but has always been really good to me about handling situations like this. I sent Amazon the pic of the supposed delivery to my apartment and explained that I live in an end apartment and that there is no wall running perpendicular to the right of my apartment door as shown in the pic. There is a set of stairs running up to the third floor and not a wall as shown in the picture so this clearly wasn't my apartment. They immediately sent me a replacement item without any hassle at all. I literally cringe whenever I see that FedEx is the delivery company of something I ordered because virtually any delivery problem I've ever had has been when they are the shipping company.

I live in Las Vegas and the package was delivered to Henderson, about 14 miles away, with a photo of the front porch of the apartment that looks absolutely NOTHING like my apartment. It was like moving a mountain to get it straight. In fact, I was argued with!

    The tip at 16:15 can be expaneded to places that want a mail address from you. You can create a near limitless amount of mail addresses with the dozens of freemail providers everywhere. Use every mail address just once and note down which company you sign up with each mail address. The amount of spam can quickly tell you which companies sell your private info and should therefore be avoided for your business.

    Hard water tip: put a cup of white vinegar in your load of whites to keep them bright (can be used with colors too). It's good for your clothes and your machine. It's also great to kill germs and odors, especially on dog beds & blankets.

    Adding vinegar to the wash cycle actually makes detergent and or bleach less effective. Detergent and bleach are bases, vinegar is an acid. Acids and bases neutralise each other to form a salt. Vinegar in the rinse cycle is good to neutralise the detergent and hard water.

    My local walmart is moving the shopping isles around in the store. A common tactic to confuse the regular consumer into make them stay longer in the store. If they're in the store longer they tend to put more items in their cart. This company uses this strategy for their benefit the most. They claim it's to make the store seem fresh and updated. Sorry Bubba, I wasn't born yesterday.

    Yep it also makes you look at other products that you would normally bypass by going directly to your known item place, as you now have to search the store again for the product you went there for.

    I tried on glasses at my local opticians office. I loved 2 pairs of glasses, a pair of Versace and a pair of Coach. I took the model numbers down thinking ill come back when I decide which ones I want. Versace was $410, Coach $390, plus the cost of lenses. A few days later I looked them up online still not being able which I liked better. I ended up finding each pair for $110 including lenses and free shipping, so I ordered both pair for a total of $220!!! Less than half than I would have paid for one pair!!! I scored!!

    I ordered a rather expensive camera from Amazon and was told on delivery day, that it had been delivered. It hadn’t of course. I asked neighbours if it’d been delivered to them, but it hadn’t. I phoned Amazon and they sent another the next day....no questions asked. They know exactly what goes on.

    You don’t need to run a bead of toothpaste from one end of the brush to the other. That’s a waste of toothpaste. A small blob of paste will be plenty. I very often add water to my shampoo and liquid bath soap. Thanks for the great tips! As far as the grocery carts go, they brought in smaller carts but the people who bring the carts from the cart corrals never bring those in. To get around that I bring my own shopping bat, fill them up with what I want and check out. Limited size bags means limited purchases. The rule breaker for this is when I am filling up my own water jugs. $1.29 for a gallon of drinking water in Kroger. If I go to another local store and fill up it’s 36 cents.

    Working for several call centers I will say that yes being angry while on hold will bump you in the queue time to time. How ever being irate and rude to the customer service rep will result in you being placed on hold again, one that no amount of anger will speed up.

    Yes, or being hung up on. I work the phones in my clinic's office quite a bit. If I feel like someone is being persistently disrespectful or nasty, even after I've tried calming them down, I will hang up. If they call again then they will be put back in the queue, so it was a waste of adrenaline for them. Plus, we keep electronic notes on conversations in that person's chart/profile that the whole office can see, so it can backfire on them if they continue with the disrespect.

    We all know it is not YOU but the lousy company you work for that mistreats us with indifferent at best customer service, however YOU are the point of contact for all the upset customers. I am a pleasant person almost all the time, but I hate paying for goods and services and then finding out the company could literally not care less what I think or is I am satisfied. Yet, some of them we have no choice but to do business with them, for example my mortgage servicer Cenlar. Jesus on a crutch they love pissing people off and go out of their way to do it. I will say most of the companies I have to do business with do try to have good customer service, Duke Energy, Advanced Disposal (now Waste Management) and Spectrum just to name a few. I do try not to take it out on the call center employees, but that just is not always possible. I ask forgiveness when I just can't contain the anger at the way we are treated.

    I've had many times when I've had to call customer service while I was "upset ". The first thing I do is let the rep know that I'm not angry at them, but the situation, & I definitely don't take it out on the rep by insulting them. Because of this, I've received better results from customer service than I would have if I had just screamed at them. Just remember that the customer service reps aren't the problem, & are usually trying to fix the problem, so they can retain you as a customer.

    As a night Auditor at a hotel, I am the one responsible for making sure check-ins do not fail and such things. One of the first things I was taught is if someone calls to cancel a reservation, check the log, as it will show if the reservation was just booked, or was rescheduled. If it was rescheduled, not only are you getting charged that cancellation fee, but if you are staying at a big brand hotel such as Wyndham or Sheraton or something like that, you are also getting put on a do not rent list, which in the case of people like this, is shared with all hotels under the umbrella of that corporation, so now you can no longer book rooms at several thousand hotels, all because you wanted to be cheap. Lol

    I don’t recommend adding water to your shampoo unless at the time of using it in your hand. There is preservatives in shampoo to keep the water in it from growing bacteria, but there is just enough preservative for the water that’s in the bottle, not another half a bottle of water. Also, shampoo is around 1/3 water as it is.

    when you order your ghetto bigmac, use the word "substitute" to avoid a addition fee, provided you ask them to replace something, such as "Substitute the ketchup for big mac sauce please". Substitute is a key word in fast food. I actually highly recommend you order a Double Quarter Pounder instead, substitute the ketchup for bigmac sauce, you'll end up with what the big mac should have been.

    I worked at a factory that produced muscle milk and the Costco and Walmart generics. When we switched to filling the packs for a different brand we only switched the outside. It was the exact same liquid. No changes to the actual product.

    I'm very skeptical of that part of the video. The whole point of a brand is that it's the same everywhere, so people know exactly what they're getting. No well-known brand is going to deliberately put their name on something made with substandard ingredients, it defeats the purpose of having a brand in the first place.

    Less detergent consumption is also possible for personal use, sometimes my hands are just a bit greasy, maybe because I just ate pizza, and a little "rice" of liquid soap is enough to clean the hands, but some people dont think this through and press the dispenser to as far as it will go, releasing a lot of soap that isn't really needed most of times

    I usually buy mine online, at about $150 (multifocal, preferred coatings, etc.). I bought my last pair at the Dr.'s office: $752....AFTER insurance. I had waitied until I needed the quicker delivery they could promise. I won't be doing that again.

    The Do Not Call list doesn’t work... and here’s why: (I got this information from my Mom who worked as a telemarketer for years). Many companies actively tell their employees to ignore the list, the small fines they will have to pay for the very few people that report them are nothing compared to the lost call volume and the working time it takes for someone to check all the numbers they plan to call to see in advance if they are on the Do Not Call registry. The best thing to do is not answer, because numbers that have someone answer are put on a new list that shows your number as “active. This list is sometimes just internal, other times shared between other telemarketing companies or even is sold. This results in even more calls.

    Here is the way to get rid of this, most of the telemarketers are outside of the U.S. (ie Nigeria and India) they use a computer to call numbers and when you pick up the computer connects to a marketer on their side, the way to get around this is that strange dial tone ( the when a number has been disconnected .. the 3 bells) put it as your voice mail greeting, the computer will interpret that as number is disconnected ( also works for anyone cold calling) and remove your number for future callings .... just had to make sure l told friends and family first to expect the dial tones on the voice message

    when i was one (ugh! thankfully, decades ago)- we would take any number and add a 3 to the end, and that could also be how those on a "Do Not Call List" are actually called. we would not know who the number went to. (so if your last 4 numbers were : 1234, we would call 1237.)

    I work in the cybersecurity industry and I have found out that many scam call centers buy copies of the do not call list from unethical employees at registered telemarketers. The list stops ethical companies that follow the law from calling, but it can also function as a lead list for illegal telemarketers and outright scammers resulting in more unwanted calls and texts than if you didn't add your number.

    Just last week a telemarketer settled with the FCC. As part of it he had to tell them where he got his contact list. It was the Do Not Call Registry. He said he used it because no one would bother to register a bad number.

    That is unfortunately far from uncommon. I work in the cybersecurity industry and there are many shady employees of registered telemarketers that sell the do not call list to scam call centers.

    I am a big time label watcher. I found out that chicken broth in the smaller package is usually 10 cents cheaper than the larger size. We use lots of chicken broth in our recipes, so this is a long term savings we use every time. I wish more people did that.

    I've had way to many "attempted to deliver" when i am home, tracking and waiting. Best part, i have camera's. One on the porch showing the front door, and one on the driveway also showing the street. As soon as i get an attempt to deliver, i check the camera's, and if there was no actual attempt made, i send the complaint and video footage showing it wasn't. Turned out was usually always the same driver that did this to me, and he said "the street is out of my way, and would be wasted time". I feel bad but he was fired because he kept doing it deliberately.

    I've gotten that "Could not access driveway" nonsense before. My smooth concrete driveway was clean and empty, road was too. No obstacles//blockages. Driver was just too danged lazy to do his job. Also wouldn't deliver after dark, nevermind my bright porchlight illuminating the driveway and front yard. 😒

    Love that tip about using a basket instead of a shopping cart. I work in a supermarket and I can't count how many times people fill their carts to the brim with product. Sometimes people have more than one cart... And of course they never go back in the cart the same way once you bag everything.

    I used to grocery shop with my bicycle and huge panniers. Using the same panniers and an e-bike, I am no longer concerned about weight but still concerned about volume. I use a shopping cart and double-check before checking out. Will it fit? I have put some items back if in doubt as I only once had to leave my bicycle fully loaded to return an item. I can fit about half of a full sized shopping cart.

    As a delivery driver back in the day, it was easy to get away with things. People didnt track like they do now. I didnt have gps. I had to use an actual damn map or rely on dispatch which was hard to get ahold of because didnt have cell phone. People were pretty forgiving if they didnt get package on time. I once got stuck in a snowstorm for over 10 hours. Times were different...

    The thing about delivery drivers is disgusting, I've been victim to that many, MANY times. I absolutely HATE such delivery drivers. One of them literally risked losing his job and wasted more time, by NOT knocking on the door, instead he filled out the card and hid the package behind trash bins ... the time it took him to do that, was longer than it would have taken him to knock on the door, since my room was right next to front door and I was waiting for that package, I would have been at the door in 10 seconds. WORST part of this story, is that it was raining outside, he left my package outside in the rain and next day was garbage day, if neighbour wouldn't have told me there's a package for me, it would have been taken by the garbage collectors the next morning. Absolutely horrible .. those delivery people need to get new brains. Also I do blame companies for making it time / delivery based. They should just install a GPS on their vehicles and have automatic alarms that notifiy if someone is slacking. DO NOT pay delivery guys / girls based on how many deliveries they make per day, it's literally dangerous. Not only it makes them throw packages and not notify customers about delivery, it also makes them drive a lot faster and cause dangerous situations on the road.

    I used to deliver raw steel to a company that made riding lawnmowers, one of the workers showed me several models of the bargain mowers were exactly the same as the high end John Deere mowers, people were paying $1500 more for the green paint and decal.

    As someone who worked retail, and was a manager for ten years in one location, some of these sound great, but aren't realistic. Such as bartering for an extra discount. If it is a display item we could give an extra discount since it was touched or used by people, but if it was a boxed item none of the four companies I worked for allowed us to give ANY further discounts since they were already marked down to a rate where we were not making money from them, or making so little we were only covering the cost to the manufacturer. The trick with the numbers are not always accurate, either, as having a discounted item marked with a 7 or 8 at the end might just be a special temporary sale item, not a permanent discount. If it ended with a 0, though, that almost exclusive meant we needed to get rid of it as quickly as possible, though we were NOT allowed to discount it any further once it reached that price as we were already loosing money on the product, and the companies would rather make something, even if it was beneath what the item cost us, rather than giving it away.

Companies do not want to loose any more money than they already are, and I have seen managers who were "let go" because they allowed items which were already clearance to be sold to people for even lesser prices so we could make room for new stock.

    Simple trick for the shopping cart size, write and follow a list. That’s all you have to do to get only the things you need instead of getting the things you want with the things you need. As for the detergent scenario there is a company called Beekman 1802. It is a company that uses relatively natural ingredients for things like soap, shampoo, and detergent among other cleaning products. As for the detergent it costs around $25, you get around a hundred loads worth, and you only use 1-3 scoops depending on the size of the load. They even talk about how little of their product you can use to clean your laundry throughout the year saving on plastic, harsh chemicals, saving the color of your clothes, space in your home, and definitely money.

    I worked in food manufacturing once and found out that most every product on the shelf that is a store brand is identical to the name brand. Especially when you buy things like sugar or flour they are absolutely identical to the name brand. I one time tried to explain this to a friends dad but he was absolutely convinced that there was a difference between buying Dyamond sugar instead of our local brand even though I swore to him that they were the exact same thing. We bought Dyamond sugar and put it into the store brand bags as well as the Dyamond bags but he was convinced that they were different. I told him it’s his money.

    Re: cart vs basket. I always take a cart because of my mobility issuses. At the Big grocer I frequent, it's rare that I fill more than a basket. I don't care how huge the cart is. Much easier for me.

    A few comments: In Britain, price labels have to give the price per 100 g (or other standard quantity) so it’s easy to see which size packs are the cheapest. When it comes to painkillers, the more expensive brands are actually more effective because of the placebo effect (I saw a TV documentary where this was tested a few years ago). When it comes to spectacles, if they are not fitted properly (the lenses centred relative to your eyeballs), they might not work properly. This is from personal experience: I have had incorrectly fitted glasses that didn’t work well enough. Also, if the optician makes a mistake with your prescription (again, this is from personal experience), there’s no problem with getting it corrected at no charge if you bought your glasses from the same company, but you could be stuck between the optician and the supplier if you buy from elsewhere. Concerning shopping trolleys, some supermarkets have both small and large trolleys, as well as baskets (at least in Britain). If you’re buying heavy items (e.g. multi-packs of bottled water), use a small trolley. Concerning the tip about booking flights to a further destination to save money, you need to be careful. Sometimes airlines cancel all reservations for the legs after a leg that isn’t used. So you might not have a return flight when you try to check in. On the other hand, I once saved a lot of money on a one-way flight by booking a return ticket. Another way to save money is to find out what other airlines offer your preferred flight as a code share. Sometimes you can get a cheaper deal by booking exactly the same flights through a different airline.

    I do this at wal Mart alot. I use a large cart, walk around for exercise, get the 2-3 items I came for and go to the check out. I do get alot of looks and that's ok with me, because I refuse to impulse buy.

    I almost always use a shopping cart, but don't fill it. Shop with a list and it doesn't matter. I tried the basket before. It doesn't work very well when you're buying a gallon of milk, or any other large/heavy item.

    Great tips to use so thanks. I keep a "price crunching" app on my phone so I can quickly do the math on prices. I'm bad at math and some stores (online & off) don't show unit costs. Also, Amazon shows unit costs but is kind of sneaky about making the unit for one thing as the whole item and for another by the ounce/piece/etc. Also, there are articles online that expose which name-brand/off-brand items are from the same origin. I also want to share this one: those detergent boosters (you know. "Lemi-***" for the dishwasher is basically just citric acid. Seriously, check the label. I now just buy citric acid by the pounds and use it with water for my rinse agent, added to the 2nd cup to help soften the hard water, in the laundry washer to soften water & reduce the use of detergent, and with water in a spray bottle to clean fruits and veggies. What I don't know but have been told is that it is a good occasional rinse (with water) for the hair and skin. Do your research though. Bonus (sorry for morning in!), I buy most of my cosmetic base products (oils, hair items, etc) from places like Making Cosmetics. I am too broke to be playing around with my money!

    I didnt answer my phone to unknown numbers for years and i still get them then remembered an air horn i got a year ago to P off my room mate so latest call i got was to say i was in contact with someone that has covid and i needed a test i said oh ok il order one "dont worry we can do that for you all we need is your bank details" hang on its free " no its not and if you dont comply we will send the police can you read the 16 digets of your card" whispers random numbers and waits for them to turn up volume blasts air horn.     My dad was getting scam calls every 5 minutes (literally) for about 45 minutes. Then I suggested that he talk to the scammer using different accents so he used an Indian accent for the first one and a British accent for the second. The scammers got annoyed and hung up and that was the end of the calls.

Was at the store yesterday to replenish some of my basics and the price of the 2 dozen eggs I bought was a shocking nearly $9 ..... well, I do buy the jumbos (if I am going to eat an egg, I want an EGG) ..... but still, 2 weeks prior they were just a few pennies over $3 a dozen and yesterday they were around $4.50 per dozen. Eggs (and chicken) used to be cheap eating. Not anymore thanks to the avian flu that has required the wholesale slaughter of entire warehouses of chickens. Wish I had the room (and income) to house and feed a dozen or so of good layers and meat birds. Alas, I can't .

    Yes I found out with that bulk buy was complete BS awhile ago. I would always do the math on items and I noticed a lot of the time the bulk item was more expensive than than buying the same amount in single items. I always used to think if you buy in bulk and buy the bulk items you were always saving money but thats completely not true. It happened the other day when I was buying waffles. The exact same waffles with one box of 10 waffles was $4, and the exact same brand and waffles for a 20 pack was $9. So buy two boxes of 10 was $8 but buying in bulk and one box of 20 waffles was $9. Like huh? Wtf? How does that make sense? Buying in bulk would have costs me more per item...

    I use to work in NEXT clothing store as a supervisor and we did this and some customers noticed so i made up a lie for my department by saying it was a location we had to put it in for scanning and check if it goes into sale. For floor workers its alot easier and quicler to pen them in and tag so it wont change

    I was in Costco a few years ago, I saw a stand up waffle maker and had never seen anything like it so I examined it pretty closely, just curious. Then moved on and finished my shopping. By the time I got home there was an email in my inbox from Costco offering that same waffle maker for 1/2 off. That was spooky. It means all those overhead cameras are watching you and AI recognizes what you are looking at and what you are most interested in, and if you walk away from it viola, an ad for a big discount. Just give us the lower price in the first place rather than using some creepy computer program to spy on us.

    Wanna really freak out? Stand a few feet away from your cell phone and start speaking about leopard yoga pants. Qait a few minutes and open up your Facebook or any other social media account. You'll immediately start seeing adds for the said product. The scary thing is you don't even have to have your phone on your person. All of your devices that hook up to Wi-Fi are listening to you and collecting all of your data.

    This has happened to me, never doing a search online, just talking about something like a product or thinking of a trip. Then open up Facebook and low and behold I am getting ads for this. They also use your global positioning and if you and a neighbor are near each other they will show up as a suggested friend on Facebook.

    It probably wasnt even AI. The security cameras are probably monitored by live people, then they track you until you check out and because you have to show your membership credentials to check out, they knew who you where.

    I worked in 6 different retail stores my whole life…stores don’t reserve items unless it’s a preorder or online sale pickup….some stores will hold an item but for an hour or 2 and after those 2 hours, the item gets put back onto the sales floor

    @@Chez114 I worked in retail at two different stores. Usually, we only held an item for a day. At one store, we didn't really have a place to hold the items (clothing). Once, I was holding three items for a woman, who was coming back later in the afternoon. My coworker put them all back while I was at lunch. The woman called with a question about one of the items and was furious when my coworker told her that there were no items being held! I got pulled from the lunchroom and had to reassure her that they were there when l went to lunch. Luckily, l remembered which items and what sizes. I ate in the mall after that! 🍖

    The amazon hack doesnt always work. Ive had things in my cart for a few days and go back to check it and the price would go up. sometimes it goes up a few dollars that it ends up being removed from my cart. Like you said they know that you have it sitting in your cart but they hope you dont notice that the price went up and just click purchase. Its happened to me a bunch of times.

    If you're a Prime member and the price drops enough and you're still within the 30-day return window but outside the 7-day window most will prefer to still reimburse you the difference rather than ship it back for refund and ship it again. They are losing shipping both ways otherwise in addition to you getting the lower price.

    Been doing the Laundry one for the past 10 years. With Hypersenitve skin I typically don't buy "Normal Brand Name" Instead going with Ecos and only using 1/4 of the cup for Large Very Dirty load (say my construction work clothing) and 1/8th for Lighter item. Typically only go Through 1 or 1.5 Bottles a Year at only 20$ CAD per bottle ( often on sale to 17$)

    Of late, I got so many, I just quit answering my phone. We used to play around with them, y'all no, make up stuff to tell them, they catch on to you and some start cursing you. That only got us getting more, in case an one else does the same. They do not drop your number, no matter what!

    If they're claiming to be from Microsoft, I waste their time by playing along in a virtual machine where they can't do any damage. I let them get all the way through their spiel, then when they ask for money, I say something along the lines of "Oh, I can't afford that. I'll just have to take my chances with the hackers." Three quarters of an hour down the drain and one less real victim for them. And no, I don't have VM software just for wasting scammers' time. I have an actual practical use for it: Using my turn-of-the-century scanner that only has drivers up to Windows XP and which can't be used with newer versions of Windows at all and doesn't work properly under Linux (everything comes out pink).

    That one about modified quality was interesting because me and my wife are convinced that certain items are better quality at Publix than the same item at Walmart. My wife noticed her brand of bread was fluffier at Publix than Walmart but were equally fresh. I have e noticed it with other foods too which should be identical.

    I agree 100%. I firmly believe that the manufacturer puts poor quality items in a special area to be shipped to Walmart. I have noticed crushed bags of chips, etc which I typically do not find at Publix.

    Walmart puts HUGE pressure on companies to lower the price of things Walmart buys from these companies, so companies are forced to change the quality of what they send to Walmart. An example: Iam's pet food put way more corn and wheat filler into their pet food BECAUSE of pressure from Walmart. And NEVER boy Walmart's brand of pet food: Ol Roy. It's absolutely the WORST pet food you can buy! A poor friend of mine asked me why her dog kept throwing up after eating that food. Da. It's mostly garbage cheap filler composed of things dogs can't digest. All so a family of billionaires can make a few more million profit.

Also I’ve know some of those employees, who had been there with Sam Walton from the beginning........ there employment benefits dropped significantly after his demise.

    I always check the price per unit on the top right corner of the price tag - You’d be surprised how many large or small items don’t match up to the other sizes per ounce or whatever

    Brand name vs generic medications: Another big difference is the INACTIVE ingredients. They can differ greatly, and while the active ingredients have to work the same, the inactive ingredients don't and they can change how a product works, like what they use to coat a pill or what kind of gel they use and you should also make sure you're not allergic to any inactive ingredients since they aren't the same. Shopping cart: BRING A LIST and DO NOT deviate from it. Simple Airline hack: You can obviously take your carry on with you, but aren't any checked bags deep in the airport en route from one flight to the next???

    When I was a manager for Central Indiana Goodwill they marked letter codes in the higher end boutique clothing items, knowing a lot of people would try to remove the price tags and buy designer items as regular rack items. They had an acronym "Charleston Jump" they used to do this, with each letter being a specific dollar amount which was marked with a sharpie on the garment tag sewn into the item. People would get really upset that we somehow still knew what the items were supposed to be rang up for even after they had torn the tags off.

    I work at mcdonald's as a drive thru cashier. The middle piece of bread on a big mac is called the "club". Adding mac sauce and lettuce to a double cheese burger not only gets you a big mac, but you also get an additional slice of cheese as the original big mac only gets one slice. Adding mac sauce or mayo to any sandwich does cost 30¢ additional. While adding cheese costs 59¢ additional. Adding 3 strips of bacon costs $1.19 additional.

    I can vouch for discounts just by asking for them. I NEVER shop Dell without talking to a rep and asking what the best price us. I usually save both the cost of the equipment and their service plan (which I was going to buy anyway.) My average savings range 150-200 dollars

    I always check if the multi-buy will actually be cheaper than buying individually, there's this one brand of blueberry muffins at Asda, I'm British, to buy a pack of 3 is £2.00, to buy individually is 50p each, so buying 3 individual ones cost me 25% less at £1.50, I don't like them myself, I get them for my dad, I also check coffee sizes, they show the price in big, then in small it shows how much it is per 100g, so sometimes I'll get the big jar, sometimes 2 medium depending on the offers that day.

    I once got comped for my coffee at a restaurant for taking a survey and this was before my breakfast was served. We told them about what happened at another restaurant (let's just say they were rude) and the restaurant said that their boss told them to tell us if we took a survey that he'd comp all our coffees. This was the "nice" restaurant by the way. They were very polite and I was gonna do the survey anyway because of their service :)

    Last time I checked, airlines were starting to crack down on people ditching their connecting flights cause it costs them big time when someone does this. I would double check the airlines policies on missed connecting flights before trying this.

    Family experience is that online prescription glasses are cheaper, but the quality is considerably lower, especially if you have stronger corrections. Nor do you get the service (adjustments etc.) offered by local people. So the lower price is not always a good deal.

    For medication you do need to watch out for fillers you're allergic to as well, not only in store brands, but also in branded products. Last there was lactose as a filler in my partners bottle of pills, while he's got a lactose allergy. Needless to say it was returned the next day. SO watch out for fillers, other common fillers are sucrose and gluten, both of which can cause problems.

    Absolutely! My husband was allergic to sulfas. Lassix has sulfas. While he was in the hospital one of the Dr's said, "We'll put him on Lassix for this." Good thing I was in the room! I spoke up and said "The Hell you will!!! Check your charts and he has an armband on for the allergy." I get it that they can't know all of the ingredients of every drug out there but there needs to be more safety measures in place for this.

    The attempted delivery happened to me. I had to reorder my galaxy s8+ when it broke a few years ago. I took vacation for the day so, I was home all day. Got a message saying it was so many stops away. I went outside and waited and then got a message sayin that an attempted delivery was made but was not able to reach me for signature. I was soo pissed.

    Another thing to check is this.... Often items are priced at 'each' so for example cheese may be a certain price per packet, stating a size/weight on the packet. (I don't mean stuff that is priced per kilo/lb). When buying stated price food, I always pick a few up and weigh them on the scales, as you will be very surprised at some of the weight differences. They are not allowed to be under the stated amount, (although they sometimes are) iif you do this with some of the more pricey items ie meats, fruits, cheeses, etc, you can gain about a carrier bag extra food. Perfectly legal. Same price heavier weight. I asked a supermarket manager about why the weights were different, and was told when food comes in the whole pallet is weighed, not the single items. This tip can mean alot for budget scarce families. 😁

    The best deal i ever got was on my favorite shampoo and conditioner. Its an expensive brand, so I used to buy the very small bottles since its so much. But a few years ago, Walmart had a deal near Christmas where you got both the Shampoo AND conditioner of JUMBO size...for more than half the price of buying them separately. So i bought like, 2 to 3 of them. I haven't bought new bottles of shampoo and conditioner in over 2 and a half years now. All for the price of slightly more than what it would have been to the jumbos of both separate outside of the deal.

    Some of these tricks, I already knew about - such as the one about shopping for bulk items is not always cheaper than buying the same item, singly. (Pllus, I never have had the urge to have to "fill my cart" each time I ever use one.) And, the one about the "Big Mac" I have been doing for years.     Also if you're shopping online or at a small business, & you have a good experience there. Let them know about your experience, & tell them that you're going to leave them a good review. And be friendly every time you go to that store. I do this at a certain store & have been for a while, & because of this, I can ask to use their bathroom, even though the sign out front says no public restrooms. Now I don't ask every time I go there, but if I need to, I can.

    I disagree with the timing of the car salesman tip, you’re more likely to get a more pleasant buying experience at the start of the month, when salespeople don’t have as keen an eye on their monthly target and are less likely to give you the hard sell on finance deals, warranty etc to pad out their quotas for those add-ons

    Amazon does NOT offer post discount. I know because I got a delivery on Saturday and liked it so much I decided to order more. That’s when I saw it’s an additional 10% off. But when I called they told me they don’t offer price adjustments. I also checked their website and it’s clear in black and white NO REFUND FOR PRICE REDUCTION! 🚨EDIT: it was three days after I placed the order.

    Most grocery stores list the unit price for items on the price tags. I once found that a hair care product that I use was cheaper to purchase the sample size. The unit price for the jar was $1.08 oz while the sample was only $1.00 oz. I just bought multiple sample packs to fill my empty jar. Also the family size bottle of orange juice is usually more expensive by oz than the regular size bottles.

    30 years ago I used skip lagging regularly. Now airlines have caught on. It still works great if you are traveling one way. The problem comes in if you are going round trip. If you don’t board the flight at the fictitious original destination, you may find that your ticket has been cancelled when the flight reaches the layover stop where you actually intend to board the flight.

    I’ve never seen a store that hides breads in the back, they are usually very close to the front. And while things like milk and egg are usually in the back there is a very good reason for it. They have to keep fridges and freezers against the back wall (the walk in kind) for the sake of deliveries. Why trek them through the whole store, that’s not efficient. In turn, it would make sense that the freezer cabinets would be close by when it comes to stocking them. And milk is usually stocked INSIDE the main storage fridge, the racks mostly block the view, but if you look between you’ll see how big it is back there.

    13:38 I've tried a lot of shampoo brands for my long hair (mostly from the cheaper lines than expensive ones) but when I tried Aussie Moist I was suddenly only using a 1/4 or 1/5 of what I normally would from the cheaper brands, because it lathered up with wet hair. I was amazed to say the least. The pricetag might have been expensive but the value was indeed surprising ^^

    That won't work for many hotel chains. As someone who works for hotels let me tell you that when we make the exception to move a reservation we also include a note stating the reservation is non refundable so even if you call back you'll still have to pay.... We aren't stupid 😂

    problem with shopping cart is (or can be) that some store brands discontinued using shopping baskets,leaving only carts to exist (like lidl),while tesco for example still does have baskets but also started using some time ago so called flat carts with a carrying capacity of like 2 baskets and just like said for the hard water tip in the end,tried this,but due to hard water being the usual you get here,those suggested limits on the cup are pretty accurate,requiring either the amount suggested or tops 5% lower

    Taking a smaller basket has never work for me I wind-up overloading the small basket, & still carrying some things in my other hand also!😂
