    This was a great overtime, but I was really disappointed in the first part of the panel discussion on the main show. Bill is usually so on point, and I almost always agree with him, but he was flat out wrong on a lot of his statements about vaccines. The whole round table were skating around the issue, saying that well for measles the vaccine works, but people shouldn't have to vaccinate if they don't want to. I understand how he may think things like the flu vaccine are a hoax, but a lot of it is a guessing game because you don't know what the flu strain will exactly be a year (or however much time they need to test and manufacture the vaccines) beforehand. The fact is, 28% (or whatever it is) is still pretty damn good, especially when that could mean a lot of vulnerable lives saved. There's also a lot of room to question/judge the pharmaceutical business, but things like vaccines are meant to save lives. So when idiot parents refuse to vaccinate their kids for no real reason, I don't really care if their kid dies. I care that it can destroy herd immunity, and infect children that can't take vaccines for medical reasons (or are too young). The only reason people should be able to refuse vaccinations is for medical reasons, and I really feel like the anti-vaxxers should be forced to vaccinate their children, or face child endangerment penalties, and worse if their kid should infect someone else.

    Mandating vaccines for the sake of protecting herd immunity is no different from mandating any action for the sake of protecting the security of those around you. A typical community would be a lot safer if everyone in the neighborhood opted for a security system. Measles exist in the natural world, and every person that gets vaccinated does him/herself and the rest of the community a favor. But it is not the case that the person who refuses to get vaccinated can be viewed as the assailant, unless you view disease carriers in general as assailants. And that would lead to a mess I think. But besides that, I think the main point of Bill and everyone else on the panel was that the media quickly labeled everyone who was even slightly skeptical about the current system of vaccinations as crazy. But the truth is that there is almost always some kink in the prevailing method, and it is improved upon later. You can't have the improvements without people pointing out potential problems and being skeptical. We already know that there are groups of people that legitimately can't be vaccinated, like those with autoimmune conditions. Is the medical community so conceited as to believe that there is no other group that could potentially be harmed by vaccines?

    Agree .. Bill was wrong when he tried to make the correlation between taking too many vaccines and it making your body stop working properly. The testosterone example was way off. Vaccines make you build antibodies against the vaccine .. measles for example. You're injected with measles in order for your body to create a defense against it. (Sorry .. I'm sure you knew that.)

    I didn't like how Janet Mock dismissed Bill's question about trans-women that lie about their gender, begin relationships with straight men, or threaten to expose straight men after beginning a relationship with someone they deceived. If she would have taken that opportunity to stand up and say that lying is wrong and might get you hurt, maybe more people would have compassion for the trans people's fight for equality rather than writing them off the way feminists are sometimes ignored due to glaring contradictions in their arguments. And then to say trans women are not respected because of the lack of respect for women sounds strange, and kind of disrespectful to say about women.. In some cases, trans women find affirmation and validation of their transformation when they are complimented, or "catcalled". Believe it or not, but some people like to be complimented randomly and do certain things to garner attention and compliments. Men and women do this... In my opinion, Mock shouldn't try to equate misogyny/patriarchy with transphobia. They are too different , Also, catcalling is now called "verbal violence"? Some of the examples of catcalling can hardly be labeled sexual harassment. According to the popular catcalling video (which many women in media outlets consider accurate), a man saying hello (which isn't violent or sexual) can be considered catcalling in a woman's mind. So as a society, we need to either redefine "catcalling" to be an offensive faux pas so true street harassment can be taken more seriously, or we need to redefine "verbal violence and abuse" because saying hello to a stranger is not equal to yelling at/threatening someone. If they are considered equal, then this society is in a world of trouble. We have to start taking responsibility and accountability for our words and actions. Don't be fooled by false equivalencies and political agendas masked as social movements.

    Trans people are expected to answer questions and engage in topics that feel kinda demeaning to me. Also, I think we need to stop thinking that "I couldn't tell you used to be a dude" is a compliment. Bill seemed awkward with Janet. I understand that trans is so exotic, and I myself often wonder many things about what it is like to live that life, but at the same time I feel like it's pretty intrusive how we just expect them to talk about it as if it is somehow a separate thing they can be objective and unattached about.

    I agree with Bill Maher on most topics he has discussed on his show. I am somewhat annoyed that he let Janet Moch dodge the question of when she should tell someone if she is a transgender or not. She said when the relationship gets more intimate. So does she kiss someone before she tells them that she is a transgender person. He should've been more specific. She also gave a horrible answer when it came to violence against a transgender. I'm sure there are nut bags out there beating some up because some guys are stupid, but I'm also positive that there are portion of transgender people out there not telling the person that they are transgender from the get go. Bill Maher let her slide on this issue. She had horrible answers. And someone is just supposed to use their trans-dar, c'mon. Janet looks like a women, and I'm sure she is guilty at some point in her life of kissing someone she was dating prior to telling that person that she is a transgender person. She could barely make a complete sentence on this specific issue so I know she is lying. She talks about transgender all the time, and has even written a book. She constantly avoids acknowledging the fact that guys that think they are dating a naturally born female are shocked when they find out that they haven't been. I don't condone them being violent, but I also don't condone any form of sexual content with someone without revealing your gender if you are trans. I'm disappointed in Bill for letting her slide on this topic. My question for Janet is what level of intimacy in the relationship should you get to before telling the guy that you are a transgender? What base does he need to get to before you reveal that you are transgender?

    I think the first sign of intimacy is when you ask someone out on a date, which is basically the same as saying "I want to get to know you better"

  • @terrancescott781

    @terrancescott781

    9 жыл бұрын

    That would make sense to me. But is this the standard that most transgenders set for themselves? Think about it. A guy has to pursue in the first place every scenario is different. For instance, you ask a girl out that you saw at a store or walking down the street and she happened to look just like Janet Moch do you think she would feel obligated to tell you that she is a transgender? Ofcourse she wouldn't. But lets say you do go on that date and you have a good time then you go in for the kiss, would your date (Janet Moch lookalike) has a split second to stop you and tell you the truth, would she do it? My guess is probably not. Then you go home having kissed a transgender, and you may or may not find out eventually depending on if your still communicating. Everyone isn't friends for a while before they start to go out. A lot of time the only time you really get a chance to communicate with someone is on the first date. In my opinion transgenders should tell the person as soon as there is any chance of physical or emotional intimacy. That means before you start walking down the streets holding hands, kissing, asking someone out on a date, I doubt this is a rule of thumb across the transgender community. Do I believe that Janet Moch has kissed someone prior to telling them that she is transgender? Yes, I do. I really think this has happened especially after she stumbled and deflected the questions Bill Maher asked. If I walked up to her at a bar a) she knows why the hell I walked up to her b) she should tell me immediately that she is transgender so I can end the conversation... if someone decides to continue talking to her then by all means carry on.

    Terrance Scott What the fuck is wrong with you....she dosetn have to disclose anything to you...IF you are a guy and you fell for her womanly charms and kiss her,its not her problem...If you are utterly transphobic and repulsed at any intimacy with a trans,thats your problem.....She dosent have to constantly give disclaimers...You are attracted to the person she is now ...Thats like saying a woman has to disclose whether she has fake breasts,or fake lashes and hair or even had a fake tightening of her vagina... And her not disclosing what she was born as gives you NO right whatsoever to resort to violence or abuse...

  • @terrancescott781

    @terrancescott781

    9 жыл бұрын

    First off xxxrazorsharpxxx I didn't say you should ever resort to violence or abuse. Let's get that clear. I do believe that violence and abuse are probably a direct result of transgender people not disclosing that they are transgender pre intimacy stages while dating. I said Janet Moch completely dodged and stumbled through her insufficient response to the questions. So your telling me that if a guy is dating a trans person unknowingly that it is ok for the trans person to leave him totally in the dark until they ready to have sex? If you are saying this then there is no need to continue the conversation due your lack of common sense. Most people work with a general view of the world, for better or worse... that is where we are as society today. Now read this very carefully, xxxrazorsharpxxx. Most people understand that some people are women or men. That is a valid assumption. It's not everyday that people encounter a trans person or they may not even notice them because they may blend into one of the previously mentioned categories (women or men). Secondly, people understand race and ethnicity for the most part, but race doesn't matter when concerning how people have sex. Keyword = Sex. People understand gay, straight, and bisexual in relation to sex. Gay people like the same sex, Heterosexuals (straight) people like the opposite sex. (The exact opposite sex) Bisexuals like both to whatever degree. I hope your still with me. I don't want you to overthink anything and hurt your brain. Now, when it comes to transgenders and the keyword "Sex" it is in there best interest to tell the person prior to intimacy in my opinion. **Ananlogy mode** Switch gears xxxrazorsharpxxx. Lets say you saw a car you liked on craigslist and you went to the owner and you saw it and loved it. Now you didn't get to take it to the auto shop for an inspection because you can't put your hand down a transgender persons pants before you buy her (aka it, car, transgender). So you buy this car and there are no refunds by the way. You can't get back the time you invested into trying to get this car. So now you bought the car and you get the keys and you try to start it and you find out it has no damn engine. How would you feel? My guess is you may feel stupid, angry, confused, deceived, humiliated, and maybe ashamed. I can't speak for everyone, but I think it is a valid assumption that you would experience on or more of those feelings. I hope you get the picture. It's about common human decency. It transcends gender whether gay, straight, or bi. If you know I'm not allowed to check to see if the merchandise is what it is then you should have the human decency to tell me what I may be getting in to. HUMAN DECENCY. This may be different for some people. Humans work under assumptions. If I saw Janet Moch I would assume that she is a woman as Bill Maher said "hot chick". There is an assumption that she knows that I think that she was naturally born with all and only female genetalia. If she was born with a "DICK" common sense says tell me asap so I can keep it moving. I'm sure the average man that approaches someone that looks very much like a woman wants nothing to do with a dick (removed or not). Do you understand now xxxrazorsharpxxx?

  • @terrancescott781

    @terrancescott781

    9 жыл бұрын

    If a guy walks up to you and you tell him that your transgender and he continues to engage with you then by all means I hope you to have a wonderful relationship. Lets say I meet Janet Moch on the street. I introduce myself and ask for her number or ask her to get a cup of coffee. I just invested time and maybe money with Janet Moch. This is a form of "INTAMACY". An act or expression serving as a token of familiarity,affection, or the like: to allow the intimacy of using first names. That is one of the definitions on DICTIONARY.COM. Now, I know you might say, "but you just met that is not being intimate." It is by definition. I'll let you slide on that on xxxrazorsharpxxx. Now, you call her/him to go on a date. That is a sure sign of intimacy. He/she should probably tell you wassup at this point or not go Remember what I said before, "Violence is not cool". But if you realise you bought a used car and didn't know that it was missing and engine or had a DICK you might go through some extreme emotions right on the spot especially if you just got finished cleaning the car (aka making out). It is in the transgender person's best interest to remove the assumptions that majority of people make from the equation sooner rather than later. I hope you understand now, xxxrazorsharpxxx.

    One thing I hate about the bill maher show is the ability to predict with 99% accuracy when the audience will applaud something. The liberals who go on the show, know the formula of how to say something idealistic and positive without any specifics, in order to get an applause.

    There’s been story after story reporting the relative absence of diseases amongst the Amish community, such as, Alzheimer’s, allergies, asthma - you know, the big chronic disorders that plague the people who live around them, namely the rest of us. Not to mention -- not ever -- the lack of autism. Autism aside, the medical and media establishments still manage to evade the logical implications - something is protecting the overall health of this insular community whose rejection of many contemporary norms is legendary. You would think they would want to find out what that something is and try to clone it, stat, especially as the same disorders and diseases hit epidemic rates outside the Amish world and these same “experts” express complete bafflement about what’s going on. A letter to the editor of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, dated March 16, 2012 AMISH CRADLEand published in the most recent edition online, is the latest to make this point. The six authors, scientists from Indiana, Germany, and Switzerland, state: “The prevalence of allergic sensitization has increased in most developed counties over the past century. In the United States, the third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found 54.3% of the study population to have evidence of allergic sensitization.” But not so among the 25,000 Amish in Indiana, who “live primarily an agrarian lifestyle. Many families live on working farms. All Amish families have horses that are used for transportation. A significant percentage drinks raw milk. They do not use electricity in their homes. They have large families.” And they have very little allergy - among children ages 6 to 12 years, the percentage showing evidence of allergic sensitization was a mere 7.2 percent. www.ageofautism.com/…/dan-olmsted-the-amish-all-over… By Robert F. Kennedy Jr. President, Waterkeeper Alliance; Senior Attorney, NRDC, On Sunday morning's Meet the Press, Dr. Harvey Fineberg, president of the Institute of Medicine, debated New York Times reporter and author David Kirby about the strength of the science linking the current epidemic of neurological disorders among American children to the mercury-based vaccine preservative Thimerosal. The Institute of Medicine as well as the Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration base their defense of Thimerosal on four flimsy studies ginned up by the pharmaceutical industry and federal regulators who green-lighted the use of Thimerosal in the first place. Those fraudulent studies deliberately targeted European populations which were exposed to a fraction of the Thimerosal given to American children. If Dr. Fineberg genuinely wants to test his assertions about Thimerosal safety with epidemiological data, he should commission a study comparing American children who were exposed to vaccines to the Amish, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Scientists or others, who, for religious reasons, did not receive Thimerosal-laced vaccines. A recent survey by United Press found that autism is virtually unknown among Pennsylvania's large Amish populations -- a strong indication that vaccines are indeed a principal culprit of the epidemic. Despite the repeated urgings of independent scientists and the families of autistic children, the federal agencies involved have refused to commission such a study and have closed federal vaccine files in order to derail the creation of those studies by outside scientists. www.huffingtonpost.com/…/vaccines-and-autism-looki_b…

    One of the issues I never see people mention, however to me is kinda of the big elephant in the room, and that is the middle east is experiencing a culture change. You have one half of the middle east embracing western progressiveness, education, women's rights, free speech, freedom of religion, and ofc all the fancy trinkets the wealthy saudi's play with, the yachts and ferraris, meanwhile the other half is deeply conservative and traditional and maintain the sharia law environment that's been in place since the reformation of the koran. We've seen how these cultural clashes play out in almost every country from the US to Spain, Japan, etc. Revolt and War. And it's no surprise that the traditionalists are using religion to defend their conservative values much like our own in history have. These radical jihadists are vile and cruel and disgusting yes, but I always wonder why do we have this image with islam, but when it comes to a similar scenario, say imperial Japan in the meiji era, we romanticize the samurai? I mean cue the last samurai. These were rebels that practiced head taking, were brutal, conducted terrorism and civil war against the government for the embrace of cultural change of Japan through western influence. No, no, no this doesn't give defense to these rebels in the middle east. I merely question the problem. Because if not addressed, it will never be solved. I question the voice of that says it's Islam or w/e because quite frankly I don't imagine a different scenario if this was Christianity and these were people using the old testament to defend their traditions. Need to cut out the root, not just the weed on the surface.

    You have to ignore most of the problems of the Middle East if you believe the crux of their issues are illiberal notions and actions done in the name of Islam. It is a very narrow (and sometimes bigoted) argument I hear from the anti-Muslim and anti-religion crowds on this subject. Why don't we address the totalitarian regimes (many armed and back by Western powers) that rule these countries? Why don't we address the crushing poverty throughout most of the world? And yes, why don't we address the West's own selfish and irresponsible foreign policy that adds to the misery? (None of these three points are mutually exclusive, by the way.) We in the West should primarily be concerned about our own actions. If we did everything could to solve those problems with what we have control over I think the moderate majority would breakthrough and lead this region into the 21st century.

    The fellow with the English accent makes very good points. Unfortunate that he speaks so softly and quickly to be understood by ME. As always, the repuKKKe guests have NO answers, only criticisms. Is that all they are good for any more? At one time they did have answers and unfortunately, as this administration adopted some of their positions, they now have NO solutions to the problems facing this country. And finally....WOW....I had no idea the lovely woman in the pink dress was a person who had a sex change. I'm not even sure the correct term to be used for such people, but BRAVO for her. I hope she is happy in life, and she deserves the same happiness the rest of the world might enjoy.

For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. ..... Though shalt not murder ...thou shalt not steal ...there are no gods before me ..love your neighbor ect ...a lot of people forget the law ...a lot of what the bible says is contradictory to the law ..burning people and stoning them is not loving your neighbor
