Jai Shri Krishna! Today we are at the famous Sri Krishna Temple located in the coastal city of Udupi in Karnataka. The temple was founded in the 13th century by the Vaishnavite saint and founder of the Dvaita school of Vedanta, Shri Madhvacharya. The temple is famed for its two exclusive features. Firstly, no one gets a close, wholesome view of the idol of Lord Krishna since it’s a tradition in the temple to worship the Lord through a window with nine holes. Secondly, unlike the usual norm of placing the idol of Lord Vishnu facing the east, Lord Krishna’s idol at the temple is placed facing the west.
In fact, there is one more exclusive feature. Everyone of you must have heard about the famous Udupi hotels spread all across the world. But, do you know that the Udupi cuisine originated right here in the kitchens of Udupi Sri Krishna Temple?

The temple, sanctum sanctorum, attracted me immeasurably when I visited to have darshan. Mind becomes peaceful, wanted to sit their ever and pray god. It gives a different feel and Bhakti flows in ur heart. Udupi temple and lord Krishna is Beautiful, divine, powerful, vibrant and one of the few ways to attain moksha

ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಮಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಕ್ಷುದ್ರ ಎಂಬ ಭೇದ ಭಾವ ಇನ್ನು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಷುದ್ರ ರಿಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಕೆಡೆ ಊಟದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ಭೋಜನ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದ. ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಕೆಡೆ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಗಳು ಬಂದಾಗ ಎದ್ದುನಿಲ್ಲಬೇಕು. ತಾವೇ ದೇವರು ಗಳು ಎಂಬತೆ ಆಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬೇರ ಯಾವ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣದ ಅನುಭವ....

According to my knowledge, Krishna temple was originally shri subrahmanya temple worshiped by 8 Shaiva (Sthanika) Brahmin (who do agnihothra every day) families around and in the period of Madhvacharya these temple is invaded by Madhva Vaishnava community. Then Velayudha dhari Shanmukha become Kadegolu Shri Krishna and 8 Brahmin houses become Ashta matt. Some senior people around tell above stories too...
