There are video's of Rory playing for Irish school children somewhere in Ireland, and you can just see he loved bringing joy to these countrymen of his. The videos of these shows are on KZread for sure as I watch them often, and have over the decades when I started watching Rory. I learned about him when I was in college in 68 to 71 and by 72 I had ownership interests in 3 different record stores. Now, decades later I still watch Rorey and many of the old Rock and Roll icons such as Mike Bloomfield and Jack Bruce, to name a few. It tickles me to see the renewed interest there is in music like Rory's and Gary Moore's. Taste was Rory's first band that caught my attention and the music world thought they had another Cream on their hands, but evidence will witness that that is not what Rory had in mind. His immense talent was evident, but he had been an Irishman from a poor family. Most of Ireland was poor back than. Rory seen realized the purity of being a musician who was fine with the fame part of the music business but striving to build a fortune did not appeal to him. He became a musician and that was enough for him, a great musician. The acquiring massive wealth did not appeal to him.

So glad you found Rory Gallagher! He was an gifted performer who followed his own path and missed the fame afforded to Clapton and others of the time by never compromising his vision. Since you enjoyed that so much, I highly recommend listening to "Can You Read Me?" from Rock Goes to College-high energy and amazing guitar skills on display. Any of the Old Grey Whistle Test videos are outstanding, especially "All Around Man" when he shows off his harmonica skills as well. Also check out "Going to My Hometown" at Hammersmith Odeon in 1977 (he's playing a mandolin!). He was an accomplished acoustic player as well. Great examples of that are pretty much any rendition of "Pistol Slapper Blues", or "Walking Blues" at Montreux at 1985.

Slash also admitted that Rory was one of his heroes.
Thank you for this!! We love you, Rory ❤️🇨🇮🇺🇸
Check out Walk On Hot Coals from The Old Grey Whistle Test TV show.
Shadow Play is a must Gents!
I saw Rory several times at a venue called the Dagenham Roundhouse in London - he was a brilliant live act
One of my favorite Rory tracks. The first time I saw him live I was completely knackered by the time he'd finished playing. Try Shadow Play from the Live at Montreux collection or even from the Stage Struck LP.
That was just the opening number. There are a few other songs from the same gig on KZread with a PHENOMENAL version of Shadow play
Saw Taste live several times, Rory was a top live performer as you saw, only problem was I felt like I'd run 2 marathons at the end of his shows.
You will be blown away with bullfrog blues. He gives a solo spot to each band member. Thirteen minutes of Brilliance.
His version of Pistol Slapper Blues
Slash idolised him, some great clips where they play together.....Rory and Gary both on best list ..not bad for such small island
Saw him twice from up close. Favourites = Tatoo'd Lady and Bullfrog Blues. Both worth a watch.
There is much more from him.Check out the encore from this set called Shadow Play. RIP Rory you are missed.
Man you guys really need to check out his Bullfrog Blues performance.
Rory was and is one of the greatest. This isn't his best performance though, go down the rabbit hole and you'll see!!
My dad brought me to city hall to see him when i was 14 changed my life
Force of nature
I saw him in Rotterdam Holland,he was great.🙏
Simply the GOAT, and if you don't believe me as he was named by non other than one J Hendrixs esq! when asked what i felt like to be the greatest, he simply said i dont know go ask Rory gallagher
He was beautiful. Wayward Child & Last of the Independents. 🎸❤️
I saw him change a string in the middle of a solo and you wouldn’t notice if you weren’t watching 🇮🇪
Taken too soon rip Rory. Shadow play is a great track .
Live In Europe and Irish Tour are excellent albums
Rory is a genius on a guitar and this is good, but by far his best.

Genius! No.1!
If you liked that you will have to to listen shadow play live in montreux. What a performance 👍
He did a good session on The old grey whistle test,
✨💖✨So I’m listening and watching, and I’m thinking, ”waaaait a minute, I know this guy…" And then I looked at the date. Ooops. I just outed my age, din’ I? Lol Yeah, it was when he “Chuck Berry-ed" accroos the stage that I finally got a clue. Solid, solid stuff. Thank you. I’ll be bopping around all day.
Second G is silent. Cool reaction.

I'm British, old, 68. I saw Rory a few times back in the day. As great as this is, it's not typical of his reportouire. This track, however, is shit hot. The pinched harmonics in the first solo are effing incredible, add to that the relentless drive of the whole thing, and voilà, you have a masterpiece.
NO BODY GOT NUT?IN ON RORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rory was well known in the UK, and being from Ireland, but American Rock/Blues fans were somewhat ignorant of this great guitarist. The great Jimi Hendrix, regarded by almost everyone, as the greatest Rock/Blues guitarist ever, said of Rory, way back in 1968, Rory is the greatest guitarist no one outsider of Europ has heard of." Rory is easily in the top 3 guitarists ever.
You'll be doing yourself a huge musical favor by going down to Rory Gallagher wormhole. Everything this guy does is amazing check out the song souped-up Ford. Garbage man is pretty good too
So glad you found Rory Gallagher!
Hi guys! Hey. Can you do another Rory reaction? Try checking out "Tattoo'd Lady" from 1979 Rockpalast. 13 minutes of freakin' awesome guitar work-you'll love it!
Hi guys nice reaction , for one of his slower songs definitely try ,, a million miles away ,,live from his EPIC live album and movie, Irish tour 74 ,one of most popular songs amazing stuff , or his cover of the old blues classic BULLFROG BLUES from the,, old grey whistle test ,,BBC TV show , . very entertaining channel guys .

A million miles away from Irish tour is my favorite song of all of my 70 years. Best guitarist so far in my opinion.
you should think about telling your wives and families your going fishing or camping and fly to Ireland for the annual Rory Gallagher blue and rock fest, its a wild week
Rory is the greatest guitarist ever even Brian May accredited him as 1 main reasons for him picking up a guitar n influencing his style. A legend taken far 2 soon

@@kippsguitar6539 well that's silly talk ppl taste n opinions r all subjective 2 each individual just because it's not your opinion but having seen him live for me yes he is and for many famous guitarists they puy him in that category of player
You may like his performance in France playing Bull Frog Blues. He actually gets down on the floor with the audience. He believed in close contact with the crowd. Sometimes he would play more than just a couple of songs as an encore - he would play an extra 30 or 40 minutes. He never compromised. He was the real thing.
My favourite band (Purple) and guitarist Blackmore. Only two choices when he left. Rory Gallacher and Micheal Schenker. BTW Check out Schenker on Rock Bottom?
Magic 😊😊😊😊😊
Very few performers, living or not had the commitment to their audience that Rory did.
Fuckin brilliant
I'm into my blues/rock but, as an Englishman, still love my Southern Rock.

I'm into Great Britain, but as an Irishman, still hate the English.
Rory may not be the best but he's my favorite. He could never pull off in the studio what he could do on the stage. If you wanted to hear Rory, you had to see him live. No comparison.
Since you are blues guys, Rory did a lot of blues. Check out some of his acoustic stuff. He goes way back and rekindles some of the old great blues artists of the early 1900s.
Rory was great but another under rated player from England this time was Alvin Lee. He was a bit older than Rory. His track ‘bluest blues’ with features Beatle George Harrison is a goodie. Rory’s ‘ Million Miles Away’ is a classic.
This isn't his best, but it is very good! Do You Read Me from Rock Goes to College is one of many that tops this performance!
