Every aircraft owner dreads a mechanical breakdown while away from home on a trip. These events are emotionally charged. You're typically stuck somewhere you don't want to be and at the mercy of strangers you don't know whether to trust. It can be frustrating, frightening and exasperating. In this webinar, maintenance expert Mike Busch A&P/IA discusses a half-dozen real-life breakdowns and how his team of veteran A&Ps helped the owners get back in the air quickly, and he offers some rules for dealing with such situations. Savvy Aviation offers Professional Maintenance Services to owners of General Aviation aircraft, such as: SavvyMx (Professional Maintenance Management), SavvyQA (Expert Consulting), SavvyPrebuy, SavvyAnalysis (Engine Data Analysis) and Breakdown Assistance. Savvy also publishes a monthly newsletter with lots of interesting information for the general aviation enthusiast; subscribe to it at www.savvyaviation.com or text the word "Savvy" to 33777. This webinar was hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).

Lost a starter after a nice day at "Put in Bay". There is no maintenance at that airport. Spent the night at a nice B&B, then the nice people from Griffin Flying service came out and hand propped an IO-540 powered Super Viking. We flew the 10 minutes to their base, and they replaced the starter, since they stocked the same P/N for their charter Navajos. Its a long time family operation, i think one of the kids lives on the airport property. It was Columbus day weekend, so no lost time at work. Turned out to be a nice adventure, as the weather back to Chicago cooperated

We see stuck Starter Relays often on Cessna 210´s. Classic thing. Tap it with the hammer and you are Fine. But never Stay in Prop Range when Switching the Power on!
