As an atheist I agree. Though I don’t think it’s really as much of a sacrifice as it seems. he seems happy. Clearly he’s getting something out of it that to him is at least close in value to what he gave up. And it really does kind of comport with our best scientific understanding of what leads to happiness and life satisfaction. Possessions and wealth don’t lead to much happiness. Inability to feed yourself leads to unhappiness but after you are meeting your basic needs more money doesn’t help. What really helps is developing meaningful connections to others, helping others, a sense of purpose, and feeling proud of the life you're leading. Each of which his life gives him in abundance.

My late Grandfather entered the church at 14. He was a priest for over 10 years, upon which he took a job as a teacher and met my grandmother (who was engaged to another man) who was also a teacher at the school. They formed a beautiful friendship and he went against his family's wishes and left to be with my grandmother. Until the day he died in 2018 (at 81) he remained committed to his faith and helped so many lives. @@lavander961 I would like to add something so that others arent led astray. In Catholic teaching, it is not sinful or lustful to think that a man or woman is beautiful. It becomes sinful when you see them as simply an object of pleasure. See (CCC) paragraph 2351. Due to the incarnation, God became man, and Jesus is fully man and fully God. Becuase he is fully man, he experienced the emotions of humanity. John 11:35 states that Jesus wept over the death of Lazarus. In Luke 22:44 Jesus is in agony over the thought of his passion and asks the Father to let the cup pass from him if it is His will. Sorrow and fear are human experiences that aren't intrinscally evil, and so is attraction. Therefore, it is possible that at some point during his life, Jesus felt attracted to a woman. However, since Jesus is sinless, he would not have veiwed her as a object of pleasure but as a beloved daughter of the Father. God Bless!

I have never driven a car in my life, but I have a bicycle. I use public tranportation, when necessary. It needs to be coordinated, according to when I need to be at this or that place, but it is not a impossible. I have lived a life of chastety for 24 years, and I just have so much PEACE. And freedom! No break-up dramas, no crazy phone bills, no sleepless nights because of crying kids. 😄 But: LOTS of time helping the homeless, the old and the likes, sometimes even councelling younger folks. But the best is the purpose. We choose to live like this, to create a center of the divine purpose: Serving God and trying to be a humble, hard-working, loving Christian under the guidance of The Lord. This is awesome. I'm, I guess, a protestant. But i have always admired people who make true commitments like this and respected the catholic priesthood/clergy. Ive long said that those who cannot be honest with themselves about themselves are simply incapable of being honest with others about basically anything, and the openness you show here is refreshing. I hope you help many and spread the gospel far and wide.

The Bible lessons are good and once in a blue moon there's a homily that isn't a waste of time and oxygen, but for me, the rest of the liturgy, no. I'm not trying to offend, but I don't even find it compelling as performance art. I prefer to support the faithful by not bringing my negativity into their space. • @deaconbilcarter5210

@@fartyfat6539 Science has always been promoted by the Catholic Church. It is in no way incompatible with faith. Catholics believe that science explains the world, and thus gives us a better knowledge of the Creator. That is why the Church has always been very pro-science. What the Church rejects is "scientism", or the belief that all things can be explained by science. The irony is, that the very statement "All things can be proven by science" is inherently a philosophical statement, which cannot be proven by science. The Church maintains that there are truths in things that science cannot offer an explanation on.

@Acroselorator it comes from the Latin word paganus or patriam, meaning country. However it basicly is an umbrella term for anyone who does not follow the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. Most frequently it means anyone who follows one of the natural Indo-European folk religions. To dumb it way down: We who call ourselves Pagans believe in Odin, Thor, Zeus, Iupiter, or the Dagda than and the respective pantheons of those Gods more than we do in Yaweh, Yeshua, or Allah. which is what makes it so weird this video showed up for myself and the original commenter.

I think a lot of people think that this life requires way more sacrifice, but choosing a life of romantic love and family ALSO requires sacrifice. You have to be able to sacrifice some pleasures and personal freedoms to do either. God called humanity both to “be fruitful” AND sacrifice the self and serve humanity. Neither is better or worse than the other and both can be used to glorify God. I think you having this channel and gently explaining your life the way you do is amazing and inspirational! I hope one day this way of life isnt such a mystery to people, and people can appreciate it
