You hit the nail on the head with Riordan’s responsiveness. He’s not perfect, and he has a ways to go (as we all do) but I respect that he does take what to heart when people bring things to his attention.

I also really appreciate how he uses his resources to make space as well, especially with his own voices mythology imprint!

omg id love to see your reaction to the heroes of olympus where riordan definitely upgrades his writing and the diversity!!! as well as the trials of apollo bc in my humble opinion i think that is the BEST series of the camp halfblood verse. like.... god.

Virginia Woof yes HOO has amazing representations and it takes mythology and the stakes a step further as well create way more complexity to characters since now Rick isn’t bound by a

That is so wonderful to hear, I've heard good things about his other series so I'm glad its true and I look forward to reading them! It's also nice to hear that other people are reading for the first time/getting back into it too, and still finding lots to appreciate. I also picked up one of the books from his imprint the other day (Face the Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse) and I'm hoping its good too :)

I think I was fourteen when the last book came out (and I immediately read it, I'd been waiting for it) and I was deeefinitely in my greek mythology phase. I heard you say that and my brain went: DAMN RIGHT IT SLAPPED OH MY GOD YOU GET IT

susan's arc in c.s lewis' series also makes me feel things even though i am not that emotionally attached to the series? i haven't forgotten clive staples lewis!! your middle name is literally staples who are you anyway!!

The series would have been so much darker if it wasn’t a children’s book 😫 This series has a follow up series called the Heroes of Olympus which contains more (a lot) representation of color and lgbtq characters. I also think that series is pretty controversial. I don’t want to spoil it but you *need* to read it. Kinda sad that you didn’t say anything about Nico tho. Also, love your dog’s name. 💜 *Spoiler alert* The Kane chronicles, Percy Jackson, the heroes of Olympus, and two other series: “Magnus chase” (about Norse gods) and Trials of Apollo happen in the same universe and around the same time frame. I wanted to write more but my fingers hurt lmao

That's so true! I was planning on reading Heroes of Olympus after the Kane Chronicles, so that's really good to hear!! I really enjoyed Nico's character arc, there was so much going on my thoughts just got lost in the fray lol. Thank you! That's good to know! I'm think i'm going to read them in publication order and hope that works out timeline wise lol

Can you read the second series Heroes of Olympus it is more diverse Rick Riordan has really grown in writing diversity like in magna's chase he has a Muslim character, a deaf character, and a fluid charcter

I am definitely planning on it!! I'm glad to hear it! I've heard great things about how much he's adapted his writing from feedback from his readers, and I also want to check out some of the books published under his ownvoices imprint too!
