    As well it should! The R&N is one of my favorite railroads in Pennsylvania for their extensive 300+ mile system, steam program, and classic open window coaches - not to mention beautiful Appalachian mountain scenery! Tall trestles, tunnels, curves, rivers, open vistas - the R&N has it all. One of the best of the east coast.

    Do you do any sound enhancement? I notice how you don't cut the sound when the clip cuts. Really neat touch... Awesome use of digital zooming to help flow the scenes...

  • @fuscoproductions

    @fuscoproductions

    3 жыл бұрын

    C T, thank you! I do some basic equalization and I cut my audio and video separately, hence the smooth flow of audio clips. The zooming is almost all optical - only a slight crop in certain instances, but otherwise no significant “digital zoom” - with one exception, the shot at 3:40 where 425 comes to a stop includes a very gentle digital crop and zoom out. All other shots are optical zooms.

  • @ct737

    @@fuscoproductions Very nice touches. I’m a sound designer and I like to experiment with EQ in my videos as well. Mind if I ask the type of mic and equalization you do? I’ve been trying to match that soft, but spacious stereo sound you create. As far as the zooming goes I’m surprised you can zoom so smooth given that this looks like it was shot on a DSLR.

  • @fuscoproductions

    @fuscoproductions

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ct737 I change my EQ shot per shot, but in general I tend to boost the high AND low frequencies to give it added crispness and fullness (pounding-in-your-chest exhaust)... it helps that 425 is one of the loudest steam locomotives in the world. The R&N crew never fails to impress in the audio department! As for a mic, I record most of the my sound off-camera on a Zoom H4N recorder, using the built in mics. In deed, I shoot on Canon DSLRs. As for the zooming, certain lenses actually do have smooth "zoom rings," the Canon 24-105 f4L being one of them. It is one of my favorite lenses simply because it CAN do that nice zoom in and out without too much judder, and the constant aperture makes things nice and even all the way through. Fun stuff. I will have to check out your videos and take a close listen!!!

    This engine is based out of Port Clinton, Pennsylvania, not far from Reading, Pennsylvania, in the USA. It runs on special occasions throughout the year on both the Reading & Northern Railroad’s main line based out of North Reading “Outer Station” and their passenger operation based out of Jim Thorpe, PA. It has over 300 miles of rails to run on. Visit these sites for more info, although no excursions have been announced yet for 2021: www.rbmnrr-passenger.com www.lgsry.com
