Reading Christian Fiction Until I Find One That Isn't Cringey
If you enjoy, please like the video and let me know what you think!!
In this video, I read Christian fiction books in attempt to find one that isn't cringey. That might sound bad, but as a christian reader, I find it difficult to find any that really hold up against some of my favorite secular books. I had a lot of success, starting with The Peasant King by Tessa Afshar, If I Run by Terri Blackstock, and Unshaken by Francine Rivers.

knew what the last book was just from the blurred image. 😆the chronicles of narnia was one of my favorite series growing up!!
Christian suspense romance is a totally unexpected, very specific genre I’ve discovered lately! Colleen coble, Lynette Eason, Dani pettrey, etc. are all authors who write well with fast paced plots and sweet (not cringy) romances

Oh my days!! I've been talking/thinking to God about Christian fiction specifically romance. I didn't know it existed, do you have more recommendations?
Love this video! ✨ Also I feel like Christian books and movies can either be cringe or super good lol!!!

True!
When I was younger, I was watching the Narnia movie and Aslan was being killed I was upset, but I was crying tears of joy. I didn’t know why. My mom explained that Aslan is a type of Christ. And now that I think of it, that’s probably why typology is my favorite thing to study in the Bible.
Ooo, girlypop, to go along with Pilgrims Progress, maybe try Little Women. It’s structured around PP, and is (along with Narnia) my favorite Christian fiction out there (actually just my favorite in general)
I just finished reading a fantasy Christian book called " wonderland trials" by Sara Ella. It's probably one of the best Christian fiction books I've ever read, totally recommend 😅

@@rebeccasmiff I think you'll like it👍
Which of these books do you think you'd enjoy the most?? 😊
PLEASE read Colleen Coble!! Her writing is excellent, and the 4 books I have read so far are so captivating. Only a few cringe parts lol but the books I have read are not particularly “romance” books so that may be why. Highly recommend!!! The series I’m almost through with is the Lavender Tides series! 😇

Yes, I so recommend!! I have a hard time with Christian fiction too because of poor writing quality, but Colleen Coble (especially her newly published books) writes well
I'm not sure if her books can be tagged as Christian fiction, but I think the novels by Nicole Baart are very Christian in the plot and themes. Few years ago, I read "After the Leaves Fall," the first of a trilogy and I remember being super blessed by the story. I'm actually planning to read it again just to refresh my memory and so I can continue reading the second and the third book. :) Thanks for this video, btw! Reminds me to get back to reading my Christian fiction collection, and hey, yeah, maybe try reading Chronicles of Narnia coz I'm really curious about C.S. Lewis!!!
Try the Fireflies in December Series by Jennifer Valent and Midnight Dance or Elusive Truth of Lily Temple by Joana Polatio! Both are so so excellent. I have a similar issue w Christian fiction being cringey and thes one’s had me gripped!
Anything Francine Rivers is amazing. - Redeeming Love - The Mark of The Lion series - The Atonement Child All of it 🙂↕️

If you like Christian fantasy, you should try Karen Hancock! She is such a hidden gem! I love her Legends of the Guardian King series so much! And her standalone novel, Arena, is more sci-fi but is so fantastic!
love this so much
If anyone's looking, I once accidentally picked up Little Faith because I didn't realize it would be Christian, but I thought it was pretty good in the end.
Did you like the Pilgrims Progress? I have tried to read it many times and I just can not get through it, I have given up on it. Many Christians just love it, I would not say that I hated it it, but I definitely did not "speak" to me.

You should read reedeming love, if you haven't already. Haley Pham (big booktuber) has read it and loves it, I loved it too and it's not cringey at all. It's a very deep emotionally complicated story that unravels beautifully.
