reading 7 books, manga + spooky stories🕯 // READING VLOG

Фильм және анимация

Maybe grab multiple snacks and drinks for this one? Apparently I had a lot to say this week, (mostly just complaining about Ninth House let's be honest) and I also got some lovely book mail while at the same time managing to read 7 books in a week?? I haven't finished them all off yet but we found a new favourite, a spooky read, and a book that I ended up having so many problems with that I didn't find room to speak about them all... ALSO SO excited about the lil announcement I made at the beginning - I can't wait to see all of your bookshelves, no matter what format in which you send them and no matter what state they're in! If y'all would like another QnA also lemme know because I've been meaning to get to more of your questions - anyways I'll stop rambling here because I ramble nonstop in this one-vlog-to-rule-them-all, so enjoy!!

Some manga recommendations you might enjoy: Aria by Kozue Amano (very wholesome read, there is a very beautiful special edition released at the moment in English) Dorohedoro by Q Hayashida (a little gory but such an exciting read, never saw a manga like this before - kinda manages to combine a more western way of storytelling with manga and also hilarious moments with serious ones amazingly) Girls last tour by Tsukumizu (very calming but philosophical at the same time) Love your videos by the way! They really calm my anxiety. Thank you for making them. Lots of love from germany :)

I have no interest in defending Ninth House (did NOT enjoy), but I do see that point about the narrative voice rather differently. In fact, it makes complete sense to me. Why? Because our perspective does not necessarily overlap with that of the characters. I love this kind of stuff, so please allow me to try and make a case for it :) Yes, we learn about the flashback in third person (because that's the extradiegetic narrative voice of the story). And yes, Alex cannot repeat a sentence she heard here because her experience is more direct than that (she did not hear him say it, but rather experiences his thoughts and experiences due to the ... whole situation (don't want to spoil anything). BUT that is exactly what makes it correct to use the first person there. First, while the italics indicate a first person voice, they are nevertheless first person voices filtered additionally through the consciousness of Alex, not neutral like direct speech in quotation marks: She repeats what SHE remembers other people saying. In this case, she repeats what she was thinking when for a short moment she took on the consciousness and experience of the ghost (a situation only made possible by the supernatural elements of story), and that was a first person experience (bit like a false memory). Even though she gains perspective after the fact, she remembers having heard, thought or felt this sentence (representations of speech and thought can be exactly the same depending on the level of distance employed) in the first person at the time, and this is how she repeats it. The fact that the reader did not share this first person perspective during the flashback due to the narrative voice, does not prevent Alex from remembering in the first person.

Hi there! I’m a high school student in Japan 🇯🇵🗾 and I am very enthusiastic about studying English and reading English literature. 📚I am always enjoying your exquisite videos and I like them so so much! I used to read Japanese manga and I really recommend “Aoha ride” this comic is very youthful and cute love story and I do love it! And also I used to very into sailor moon anime when I was a child. Japanese culture is very popular and come into fashion not only Japanese but also people in all over the world! So please enjoy your Japanese manga(^^) and I’m sorry for your concussion problem... I also have a little health problem so I understand sometimes we are struggling so much than others. Please do not push yourself too hard, and just take care of yourself. Thank you very much for reading this comment if you read this, and I am looking forward to watch your next video!💕😉

I may be late but I am still catching up on your videos! For manga I would definitely recommend “Horimiya” if you would like a cute, warm hearted, comedy/love story about high schoolers. For something a bit more serious try “A silent voice”. It has been made into a movie which is good but the manga is undeniably amazing! And for silly and downright ridiculous try “Nichijou”!!

I always love your vlogs, I find them very relaxing. I think you will probably like this manga called The Blue Exorcist, because in some ways it is similar to Tokio Ghoul. I didn´t read anything by Leah Bardugo, so I can´t criticize the autor´s writing, but I fully understand the complaints you made about the book and probably, knowing myself as a reader, I would have the same problems.

I wasn't in the greatest mindset for it and gave it 3 stars when I did read it last year. My 3 stars are usually read later and try again. 🐲 I’m getting into Korean literature too. I’m starting ‘Please Look After Mom’ by Shin Kyung-Sook in a few days and I’m very excited 🐲 I haven’t read the mangas yet, but these are my favorite anime adaptations of all time. 100% recommend you read the mangas. ‘Kilari’ (or ‘Kirarin Revolution’ - this show is my entire childhood), ‘Tokyo Mew Mew’ and ‘Ojamajo Doremi’ (these 2 are also my childhood), and ‘Kaichou Wa Maid Sama’ (If I start talking about this one I’ll never stop) 🐲 We loooooove long vlogs. May you have a good week💕💕
