    I’m 53 and now to the point of slight bifocal need. +2.50 for left eye and +3.00 for right eye for reading only, but +0.75 in left eye and +1.25 for intermediate and nothing for distance. But in the reading lenses for bifocals, they shortchange me and it’s only +1.75 for both. Why are bifocal reading lenses always a weaker strength than what I need? They work but not as good as single vision. I know it’s all addition, but still….

    I just had my vision checked for the year on Wednesday and was told that at nearly 36, I need to look into getting readers.

    I never knew reading glasses existed until I went to the DMV and the lady let me borrow hers so I could read the small font on the paperwork. What a life changer!! I went straight to Target and bought 3 pairs and I love them!!!!

    I’ve been told that I need glasses since 2nd grade, even though I have seen many Optomatrest’s (because I move a lot) I and the Optomatrest’s have a very difficult time finding a prescription that works, I always end up having to settle for “it’s as good as it’s gonna get” recently however, I left my prescription glasses in my car, and in a pinch I grabbed my mother’s non prescription reading glasses and was amazed, things were no longer strange, warped or out of focus like they appear with my prescription glasses, things were just slightly bigger, not to the point that my perception was off but just enough for me to be able to read letters from a much greater distance, and this is my questioning, Optomatrest’s have always told me that the goal is to make things clear and sharp, but I, in my mind believe that I can already see things clearly, I’ve seen tv ads that demonstrate how people that have bad eyesight see things blurry, but that’s not what I see, for me it’s just letters, it’s hard to explain but they don’t look “blurry” they just look too small? Yes my prescription glasses do help a bit, but I can only wear them in situations where I am not moving around, like in front of a computer, but as soon as I have to move, I take them off because if I try wearing them while walking or anything that requires motion I become very clumsy, I miss the door know because I can’t tell how close or far it is from me, I stumbled while walking because the floor doesn’t look even, and other similar things, whereas with reading glasses I don’t experience those things, they just feel comfortable with the benefit of being able to read things from further away

    Thank you for reaching out! There is a lot going on here while not knowing what your Rx is. You're definitely dealing with hyperopia and my guess is that you're also dealing with astigmatism and/or perhaps prism. Either way, there isn't a perfect solution. Normally, I would say that you should try wearing your prescription more consistently, but if you've been wearing Rx since the 2nd grade...It is really tough to know for certain. We would be happy to help if we have more info on your specific prescription. Give us a call and our friendly, knowledgeable opticians would love to help at 888-831-5817

    *We are Interested in YELLOW TINT lenses, but Zenni Yellow tints are too light, barely noticeable at 10%. Where can I confirm & get a darker richer Yellow tint??*

    Find the yellow works best for me and my family. But alot of these sights dont really show us live examples of the yellow or amber tint options. Zenni did but everyone agreed that they were a bit too light.

    So I had cataract surgery a few days ago they fixed the lense for distance. Now seeing up close is a total blur. I got some over the counter cheaters -2 level they help a little bit not good for long term. My question is do the prescription readers able to adjust my eyes more than cheap readers ? Worried long term. The doctor said I might need readers once in a while but it’s really bad

    That is a common experience after cataract surgery. We recommend seeing an optometrists to get your specific reading vision needs. There is a good chance that your eyes would benefit from slightly different correction between them. You can also have the correction specified to the distance you read at! With a prescription, our friendly, knowledgeable opticians can best guide you to the right setup for you at 888-831-5817.

    Still wondering if prescription readers are less likely to scratch, etc. I love my contacts and wonder if it is it really worth the money to get prescription readers or just accept regular readers will need to be replaced periodically because of quality.

    That's a good question! It depends on what you're comparing them to. As a general statement, I would say they are not more or less likely to scratch. You just need to make sure you get a good scratch coating. Don't forget, you can always reach out to our friendly, knowledgeable opticians for more tailored assistance at 888-831-5817

    Since having cataract surgery this past March, getting the right prescription has been terrible. On top of that, I’ve got RP. I sit 6-7 feet from a 65” monitor and am having a lot of trouble seeing some text.

    Supposing I want to read closer; would I increase or decrease diopter from 1.75? Same question in reverse; what change would I make to read a little further?

  • @sportrxeyewear

    @sportrxeyewear

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello! An increase from +1.75 diopter strength will further enhance or magnify the image you're viewing. A decrease will make the image appear smaller. This assumes a general reading distance of about 1.5 to 2 feet in front of you.

    Rather than progressives, if there is no correction for distance, wouldn't a better choice be the blended bifocals in either round or B-Free style? This would leave the sides of the lenses as true prescription, and not just a visual no man's land. You also left out that the OTC readers probably do not have the correct optical center for the user.

  • @jackesioto
    @jackesioto Жыл бұрын

    OTC ''cheaters'' are fine in a pinch and when you only need magnification. In other situations, prescription glasses are better. Not to mention, if you have astigmatism, nearsightedness or some other complex eye condition, over the counter glasses won't help at all, so prescription glasses are just about the only option. Also, otc reading glasses are not suitable for all day wear, prescription glasses are.

    Biggest difference between readers and prescription is that prescription are marked up almost 1000%. The lens that this place charges you cosd around a dollar to make. They will charge you insane amounts for them. Eye glasses are a racket. Almost 80% of the market is controlled by one company.

    I got the special from America's best and it's trash, I needed reading glasses but they burn my eyes after a while. Trash I should have just gotten cheaper reading glasses for half the price.
