@@jalliboy I prefer the riffs of Holy Wars to Painkiller. I still like Painkiller, but Holy Wars in my opinion is superior. To me, it’s like someone asking me what’s better, Master of Puppets or Rock Hard Ride Free? I have yet to find a Priest song that can hold a candle to anything Metallica or Megadeth. Unless it’s black album or later Metallica. Now, if we were talking Iron Maiden, that’s a whole other story. There’s plenty of Maiden that holds up to The Big 4.

I find it strangely fascinating watching people react so positively to a genre of music I grew up on and defended my entire life. Metal music is def. not something to get into one summer. the genre of music that will never die unlike many many before it.

I heard this the day of release. Brings tears to my eyes to witness people hear it for the first time.
Megadeth is probably the most technical thrash metal band that ever came from that era and they made heavy thrash metal for a very long time without going soft like Dave's first band.

When you're stoned and someone says, "Is anyone wearing a shirt?" I laughed way too hard at that.
I was lucky to be a beginner teen when this hit the deck! Took that metal in a new and beautiful way!! I don't know how many times me and my pothead buddies would be laughing, being silly and loud, but quiet as church mice when Dave and the boys came on!
I used to listen to this on the way to School, crazy!! The message is still relevant!!!
Holy Wars, Master of Puppets, and Painkiller are the 3 songs that make me feel like I'm gritting my teeth, holding on for dear life on a ride that's going way too fast. It makes you want to pause it just to catch your breath.
It’s a masterpiece
I think this is a one of the masterpiece of Heavy metal in the world. God bless you Dave. From South Korea ❤
Favorite comment "Hold on hold on hold on Megadeth don't know the rules!"
True story. I'm 50 years old and still a metal head (it's in my blood). As a youngster I was given so much grief about my choice of music (was called a satanist, whatever that nonsense is). One day, my old man got on my case about it (poor idiot) so bad, I had only one thing to say to him. LISTEN TO THE F***** LYRICS, AND THEN GET BACK TO ME! He did...😳 finally he understood that this music was a way to release my immature ignorant youth angst. Chuck D once said "rap music is the CNN of the ghetto". Well, for us. Metal (specially Thrash Metal) was and is the same thing. Youngsters, get over the "screaming" and like my old man, listen to the f*ing lyrics!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

hey man, I’m only a few short years behind you. my parents did the same thing. next thing I know, my mom stole my Metallica Black album! this is old, very old, from the 90's. the modern megadeath guitars are truly crazy, the speed, accuracy, extremely complicated melody. Perfection got blown away AND YOU FEEL IT. for those that dont know Dave Mustain, was kicked out of Metallica, for being an uncontrolled maniac drunk. but he does own and aim it
It’s funny looking at these reactions from the perspective of someone like me. I literally knew how to play this song back in 1992. Except for the middle acoustical part. Lol
"Is anybody wearing a shirt ?" 😅 I had a VHS in the early 1990s with behind-the-scenes interviews ,etc with Dave E. & Dave M. Dave Mustaine said "you know music video directors🤪" They chose an airplane hangar in Long Beach (I think ) to shoot this in on a 100+ degree day, and they were there all day, he said something like they all sweated soooo much, the drummer Nick Menza drank like 5 or more of the biggest Gatorades you could get at that time,(he motioned his hands, way bigger than the quarts, I think I saw 64s or bigger back then), "and Nick didn't get up to go pee once".
You really don’t know until you been in the pit during this song . Man life was good back then .

actually, that’s only part of the facts. Dave’s gone on record about the “Holy Wars” part and it was inspired by a show in Ireland where he spouted off and said something about the conflict with the IRA. the band was asked to leave and escorted away in a bulletproof van.
