Both parents of joost died when he was very young. His father told him there is no limit. Joost says he misses him every day and that he listened to his dads advice.

I can relate to Joost so much now. If I had of read the lyrics prior to listening/watching I might have had a different experience but always want the reactions to be without any prior or external influence. Thanks for the explanation and for watching

also an important note to understand the message at the end of the song is the 1st part where he mentions the loss of his passport, then the rest of the song is a trip without borders

I feel its a fun song with obvious a clear link to happy hardcore times from the 90's and a message about borders and how to cross them!

This song encapsulates the Dutch sounds that pioneered and influenced the electronic music scenes we know today. It's a tribute to the 90's, Eurodance, the popular songs and artists of those days, and of course his mom and dad. Especially his dad, saying that he followed his advice. 1983❤ Joost Klein, Droom Groot!

Little bit of background on Joost. He was creative from a very young age and also a bit different. His father said that there are no boundaries and he should follow his dreams. They always watched the Eurovision Songfestival together so as a kid he replied that his dream would be to go to the Eurovision Songfestival. Then his dad passed away when he was 12 and his mother when he was 13. For inspiration and acceptance of the loss of his parents he travelled trough Europe. Therefore he sings that the pain and emptiness stayed with him no matter where he went. He paid for mental help but it did not work for him. Still he managed to be a very positive and joyful person as reflected in this song. He sings about the song Papaoutai from Stromae that is also about missing his father. In all of this he managed to combine lot's of cultural aspects of different European countries and the Netherlands. There is even a Max Verstappen reference in the build-up. Without the layer of his personal life you will notice that a lot of elements can directly be related to the European countries. The young boy and the old man represent him and his father struggling trough life and his father being an example for him. The windmill is near where he spend his youth so also a trip trough memory lane to him. The final emotional scene represents him as a kid and his father when it all ended, the burning of the family photo and the building represents that you need to move on in life and not be stuck in the past. In the end he tells that he listened to his father (there are no borders for your dreams) and refers to him going to the Eurovision Songfestival. So winning would be optional, his goal was participation. It is a bit similar to the style of Little Big, a band that never participated and still has the most views on the Eurovision channel by a landslide.

way before.... I experienced it from trance underground parties a lot of running for police and then we found ourselves at our first hardcore party, but elstak came later. rotterdam yes, famous foam parties!!! ❤

Joost klein is groot! He dedicated this song to his father who died when he was 12 years old. His dad taught him that the world has no true boundaries. His mother died when he was 13. He is a huge inspiration to young folks. He is such a legend the world needs more people like Joost. He has gone through so many challenges in life, it is a true inspiration to see how he deals with it. Joost klein, droom groot.❤

Joost lost both his parrents at an early age this song is dedicated to Mostly his father, talking to him that no barier should hold anybody back. the video is about how europe is slowly going mad (is my guess, idk)

The hardcore music was used by 2 unlimited, but they sure as hell didn't invent that sound. That would be DJ Paul Elstak, who can be seen in the segment inside the car. I call this a sad song masquerading as a happy song. Finland literally is no competition nor comparison at all.
