I will say this as an ALPHAZ and just a fan of music in general. Thank you Khadija for giving us your reactions and letting us know what you feel about everything whether it’s criticism or praise. You are absolutely allowed to feel however you feel. It’s a very fine line when it comes to paying homage and appreciating cultures in however way artists incorporate it, but there is definitely times when it’s definitely misused and/or being blatantly appropriated. End of the day, we all love the girls of XG and I hope they be careful with how things are being presented. I love it when cultures get together and share their love for one another and not used simply because it fits a concept.

You saying that Black Artist are using Asian Culture does not take away from the fact that XG has some blurred lines of appropriation/appreciation ; which is who we are talking about HERE. I LOVE these girls but that is still a factor to consider. Also, she states how much she loves them too but you are so quick to dismiss her point.

To address the cultural appropriation aspect from someone who is not biased, it really stems from black vs african american. A lot of eastern and south east/south asians do not understand the struggle many african americans went through nor the history of slavery. In addition Japanese have braided their hair for centuries and they actually did wear grillz and did teeth painting in kabuki plays lol. So its a misunderstanding of culture.

Yes, this is exactly the conversation to be had! 100%! I think that's the point I was trying to make initially - XG is a global pop group, they have global audiences (and their music is VERY heavily influenced by Black western music); I just find it strange to not consider how their African American audiences might feel about some of these choices. In 2024, when there is so much information and cross-cultural exploration happening, it is a bit naive to say you can understand the COOL parts of African American culture and history, but you don't understand the difficult or harmful parts. Also, I love when they incorporate traditional Japanese elements into their styling as well - aka Harvey's black/red teeth in Puppet Show era. That wasn't just used in kabuki, those actors were replicating an actual part of Japanese culture, which I didn't know about until I saw Harvey do it! There's definitely space to learn about each other's cultures and find cool ways to blend them together!!!! I just know I wouldn't go out and paint my teeth black today without taking time to understand that history, the cultural impacts, and how other people might feel about it first.

The many #Alphaz …yes and the black ones too asked for a full Rap Song and Simon “Jakops” obliged. The XGALX Production Team is very diverse and Simon has friends who are in Atlanta as Producers as professional artists who helped create several songs by XG. He was born in Seattle, Washington and his vision is Multicultural as well. He created Xpop as a new genre concept so it allows these Xtraordinary Girls to be extremely versatile. I have watched every episode of the Documentary Series “Xtra Xtra” and XG is a group who pays homage to many US Artists, Japanese and Korean ones as well. I see a lot of people don’t get that the Hip Hop Culture is Poppin’ in JAPAN as well as Rap. I’ve watched many but it’s unfortunate that K-pop Reactors may see and know S.Korean Artists but not get that JAPAN is very different. Oh and yes the long nails were traditionally a sign of Royalty and many wore Gold Tips, I’ve seen this in several Vietnamese Artist MV’s as well as Chinese. Thank you for this Review.

A lot of them see it as hate but it’s literally just VALID criticism. You aren’t downing their skill, character, etc. They push potential fans away saying stuff like “If you don’t like them then go” instead of using critical thinking and actually taking what is said into consideration. They’re pushing away a crucial part of their audience and possibly stunting XG’s progress of getting bigger in the states. XGALX should be taking the criticisms into consideration as well 🤷🏽‍♀️.

THIS is literally the only reason I ever mentioned it in the first place. They are a global act with a global audience. If some of their decisions might isolate potential audiences, it's something they (the company, not the girls) should take into consideration. And if FANS truly want the best for XG and want them to share their music, talent, skills with the world, then they wouldn't get angry at people for having these conversations but try to help bridge these gaps. It's a very privileged stance to say "Oh, it doesn't matter, who cares, it's just hair/clothes/nails!" But for the global audiences who have been affected by this discrimination for decades, it would mean a LOT to see that XG is a group that actually cares and considers that. That's all I'll say about that! Haha. Sorry for highlighting your comment in particular, but I really appreciate the respectful way you shared your thoughts!! 💚

If you are going to get into the issue of culture appropriation, we are in first place, because many black artists here use Asian culture in their videos such as: card B, Chris Brown, Nicky Minaj, and I don't think Asian care With this, very much, they feel proud. Personally I think this is one of such a great and unnecessary imbecility that it often results in groups that love a certain culture other than yours, not being able to honor their favorite American artists because from music to characterization, everything becomes "cultural appropriation", that is Acefalicas, who owns nothing, just because it sings in a different style or characterization. The world has evolved and the minds remain rough and reeving unnecessary and futile things. Let the cultures intertwine and feel proud that countries value and brainstrate our cultures and we theirs. What good is your country to have a rich culture, if no one knows? And it doesn't allow us to share just because I'm not such a country? I'm sorry, more I call it "cultural stupidity. (I'm talking globally ok.). Ready I said..❤💥👏👏👏👏.

share... that's the word Taking and sharing are not the same thing If I have a ball and ask you if you want to play with me, that's sharing Even if you ask to borrow my ball, that's sharing but just coming and taking my ball without my permission...that's not sharing And taking my ball then telling everyone it's your ball...that's fraud So this is why the African Diaspora is so suspicious about your idea of "sharing" Don't worry about no one knowing our culture. Everyone knows our culture. We don't need people to copy it for it to be known. and outside of that, sometimes, somethings are meant just for us. People chronically take without getting permission they take without giving credit. They take and claim it as their own. all the while, taking from us and disrespecting us as a people. Discriminating against us. This is why we don't trust them.

Yeah, it was Tape #3... I get what you mean. Their cyphers are all about paying homage to hip hop, so I understand why they are "name dropping" but I think they sometimes lean SO HEAVILY into it, kind of feels like they're trying to prove something. Which they don't need to do! And it makes it feel even more like cosplaying rather than just authentically living it. I dunno, it's interesting. And the outfits? But stop acting like some of your faves don’t make fun of their own members for having darker skin or make fun of black people, then go on stage and rap while wearing black influenced styles. *bombastic side-eye 😏* And yes, it goes both ways. If there are black artists that blatantly steal from Asian culture, claiming it as their own, while belittling Asian people, they 1000% deserve to be called out for it. @@shnaide1 she’s a reaction channel, these kind of people react to things. She doesn’t have to like everything she reacts to. If you don’t like the way she reacts, specially to XG, why even watch? Just skip and move on don’t give her the views you say she’s looking for?

@@jamonicashoals5866 I know she doesn't have to like what she's reacting to. And you know what? She also doesn't need to react to what she doesn't like. How about that? So many reactors out there who after realizing they don't like the things they reacted to, won't bother to react to it again. Cause it'll be like this reaction. Trying to force herself that she like this blah blah blah. Just read the other comments here and you'll know what I'm talking about. Lol

Genuine criticism is how an artist grows its very necessary. And it so important now because XG hasn’t begun an album era yet. Aespa got a lot of criticism too and they ended up dropping a successful debut album recently it was the same for black pink too. And this one is very genuine you’re mad that she’s not ignoring valid issues because you do.

Are you implying that these things are equal because classical/orchestra music was created by white people, DIRECTLY as a result of the struggle and oppression they faced? And because white people were judged and ostracized for the elements of classical/orchestral culture they showcased? So you're asking if Black people should be cancelled because they are playing orchestra music without acknowledging or showing respect for that history? Is that... is that what you're implying with this comment? Cuz if so, it's incorrect. And if not, then this comparison is not relevant because they are NOT the same.

@@KPopwithKhadija Here's my reply that was deleted i think (did you?). Let's see if it's deleted again: Crusades against cultural appropriation are not progressive, they are reactionary. Not only does it constrain exchange, inhibit the imagination, and threaten to deaden cultural expression and innovation, they undermine precisely what is valuable about a diverse and open cosmopolitan society. For the sake of art, culture and the human experience itself, let’s take a stand for true cultural freedom and unfettered imagination.
