Here's one for yer, if you know you know. Steve Vai was good and enabled them to modernise, but they were great in the 70s and 80s. I've been lucky to see them past and present

Can't watch a Whitesnake video withought mentioning Tawny Kittian. She passed away to young. But definitely was a troubled soul.

This song was actually a hit when it came out. It got a lot of radio and MTV play. it was like #4 in the US, and it was a song that was on the live set list quite often. The problem was that the album slip of the tongue only sold half of what the previous ST 87' album sold. I thought it was a great album. Some really great songs on it, some great rockers so great ballads..I thought Steve Vai did a really great job on the guitars on it. It did change the sound of Whitesnake a bit, but I thought it was just a natural evolution to WS as every album had evolved and changed a bit, but a lot of albums that were released in late 89-92 were over produced, to "shiny" plus the scene was starting to change and a lot of bands started to feel that change with album sales during that time. Even Skid Row's Slave to the Grind in 91' hit #1, but faded kinda quick and didn't sell nearly as many copies as their first album did. It was kind of a sad time looking back cause you could kinda see the writing on the wall that things were going to change and yes as soon as Smells like Teen Spirit got played on Mtv I think everyone that was a fan of the 80's "hair metal" all gasped our last breath cause we knew it was over, it was dead.

A lot of people don't realize that Man in the Box by Alice in Chains was the first hit out of the Seattle Big 4. Alice was more metal though, like Soundgarden.

It is indeed a love song. The woman in the video (who was his wife when they filmed it) went with him through difficult times prior to the release of the 1987 Whitesnake album. Deep in debts, unsure if he can ever sing. That 1987 album saved the singer, sold 5 million times in the USA til the next album with this song on it was released late 1989. But just a year later band and marriage were gone.

This sounds like the latest remix/remaster audio. Vai's guitar on this track was better heard in the original album mix. Many folks feel that Vai's sound was too over the top on the original release. I disagree. CORRECTION: this *is* the original video/album audio. I'll go away now.

Slip of the Tongue wasn't as good an album as 87' was.
