My favourite Uuno Turhapuro moment is "Uuno pelaa biljardia", or Uuno plays billiards in english. You should absolutely watch that. Another good one is "tupakanmittainen tauko". Uuno Turhapuro movies are 100% best comedy movies I've ever seen. I've watched them all like 4 times. Not many movies can make me laugh out loud, but they do. They're just full of hilarious moments and the stories are great. The writer Spede Pasanen, is a genious, he also plays in the movies. He turly is a national treasure and a legend in Finland. Uuno Turhapuro is played by Vesa-Matti Loiri, who is also a legend, not only he is a great actor, but he's one of the best artists in Finland. Both of them have had, and still continue to have a huge impact on Finnish culture and media, I wish they were still alive, making more movies and music.

To understand Uuno Turhapuro's character, he's at the same time an "everyman" and an "antihero". So, he doesn't possess exactly the best qualities but he's still relatable and positive.

Uuno started out in the early 70's as a sketch character in a show called Spede-Show as a lazy, avoiding any kind of physical labour at all costs type of man who by some weird way managed to marry a rich wife. He is waiting for his father-in-law to die so he can get his hands on his inheritance (of which he has already promised percentages to his best friends "Härski" Hartikainen and Sörsselssön). They made 19 Uuno movies between 1973 and 2004. It's probably very hard to see them anywhere with English subtitles but if you get the chance, you definitely should watch them. Personally I think the earliest ones are the best ones.

I think Uuno was mostly unemployed, lazy but chill and easygoing character. He didn't like others telling him what to do and he had a way of getting into trouble and messing up a lot of things. He also seemed to have the best luck though.

Uuno is very iconic Finnish comedy character and antihero, played by late Vesa-Matti Loiri. Beloved legend of Finnish entertainment Vesa-Matti Loiri was buried on September 20, 2022. The funeral was attended by many well-known Finns, President and Prime Minister also attended the funeral.

In Finland, military service is mandatory for all young men. It lasts from 6-12 months, depending where you will be sent to and for what role you will have in the military. For example, when I was young, my boyfriend specialized in a tank destroying unit (in a war, his job would be to scout tanks and destroy them). If a guy doesn't want to go to a military service, then he will have a social service, for example in a school, kindergarten or a nursing home. Why we have kept the military service is that we're a small nation next to Russia, and Russia can be an extremely dangerous neighbor as we have seen.

Of course you don't have to go into military if you are older than 30 years old , but this is supposed to be funny rather than realistic. Ensio Itkonen is supposed to be under 20 years old, but his movie just used famous actors rather than the best actors to the role. Ensio Itkonen was the most famous driving school teacher in the real life and that was the joke. Uuno Turhopuro does all seven deadly sins, but he isn't evil. He just want to get rich without doing any work.

He is sort of getting to difficult situations all the time but has super relaxed attitude to life and says and does things everyone hopes they had balls to say and do. Oh yeah, not all of those videos have subtitles, but you pretty much get the point just by watching. Actually, the better version of "Härski-Hartikainen on liekeissä" is "Uuno Iltavapaalla". In that one, Uuno's group's hotel room gets mixed up with his father-in-law's prestigious guests' room. He has promised to cover all the expenses for his group, and accidentally ends up being the one to pay for Uuno's evening. The father-in-law can't stand Uuno.

Uuno Turhapuro character is a dedicated slacker who managed to get married to a woman with a rich father. His aim is just to sit around and wait until he can inherit his father-in-law, but he gets really creative and industrious when something threatens his peaceful existence. The typical plot of these movies is his father-in-law trying to get rid of him, or just make his life hard out of spite. That or just random schenanigans happening. One film that would be great is Manillaköysi, but it's a 70s TV-movie and it's almost impossible to find with subtitles. Too bad. That movie has absurd situations and epic oneliners.
