Thank you so much for all of the incredibly kind words! I was very fortunate to be able to put together a fantastic team for this project and it was a blast to make. To answer your question, yes, that is me playing Cassie! She was filmed last so I was able to shave for her. ;)

Another thing in the Steep line is that Tealeaf is cockney rhyming slang for theif, so steep times makes the theif richer

Fallen London’s one of my absolute favorite settings, so this was song was such a cool surprise. Was not expecting you to cover it, but that’s just making it even better! “All the markets turn to black as soon as all the lights are off” is such a fantastic line and so perfectly encapsulates a lot of what events around the Echo Bazaar present.

Lemme give you a story breakdown just in case you don’t know anything, 3:22 1. the day of wraith is the day that London was taken under by bats. 9:44 2. literal demons, they neighbor hell. 3. I think those may be rubbery folk (I think they were called that). 12:07 4. No not an assassin, a demon spy sent from hell. 15:44 5. May I introduce you to THE MASTERS OF THE BAZAAR, as you said, yes they caused the fall, they now rule every aspect of London. And finally 18:17 6. Death, think of it as the same level of an issue as say a bug next to your ear, you kill someone, give them a few minutes and they’ll be up and at ‘em

I just want to step in here a little bit. :) 1. Yes! 2 and 4. Literal demons indeed. Shortly after the Fall, London will go to war with Hell and lose. As a concession, London must allow The Brass Embassy and a legal soul trade. They are also the developers of Prisoner's Honey, which is the prime hallucinogenic drug in the Neath, remember that when he (Byron) mentions "a spot of buzz". Also, the devils buzz slightly when you're near them, but I'm not sure I should go into detail about that. Byron also refers to the Neath as a paradise, as well he should since the Devils fled into the Neath because the rules are lax there and Devils, as a species, HATE LAWS. ALL LAWS. The Iron Republic (Hell's first colony) notably abolishes all laws to an even greater extent than Hell itself. Including the Law of Gravity, and Euclidean Geometry. To the Devils, the Neath is an absolute paradise. 3. You didn't timestamp this and I don't remember the Rubbery Men coming up in the song. The Rubbery Men are not demons/devils, but a gentle cthulhoid squid people who are big in the amber trade. They aren't walking around London yet as of Mask of the Rose. They will eventually be the #1 victim of hate crimes and racism in London. 5. The Masters don't rule every aspect of London, just the economics of it on behalf of the Bazaar. The Traitor Empress (Queen Victoria) still holds political power, including control over the Admiralty, though it's tempered slightly by the fact that the Masters can just drop another city on London whenever they want. By Sunless Skies, she's outmaneuvered them and is waging a literal war on the Heavens. 6. Death takes a few hours and is extremely inconsistent. When you die, you get put on Charon's boat and he has to drop you off. Sometimes this is back into your body, sometimes this is elsewhere in the area. Don't fall off the boat or you don't come back at all. There are also other reasons why you can't come back (no body to return with, for example).

One of my personal favorite bits of music-craft that the Stupendium employs is the time-signature shifts. From 4/4 to a 3/4 waltz, back to a 4/4 chanty. Just beautiful.

I am not familiar with the universe of Fallen London, but after this musical I am almost sure that I should experience and wait - a community doomed to expend all resources, attempts to drown out bad thoughts, and of course many reflections that past attachments and values remained at the top, who knows who you will become at the bottom?

Sunless Sea is probably the easiest one to jump in at and gives you a nice overview of what’s going on. It takes place about 40-60 years after this song and Mask of the Rose, so society in London has stabilized substantially. The main game, Fallen London, is a free text-based adventure and can be a little obtuse in places, but is well worth experiencing.

I've played Fallen London for years and I can warmly recommend it. The original game does veer slightly closer to a choose your own adventure novel than a typical game, but there really are a lot of choices and choosing to solve your problems with persuasion or watchfulness is just as valid as solving them by being sneaky or dangerous. I'm currently at a point in the game where I work as a silverer (someone who can enter a dream realm through mirrors and from there influence other people), but I also run sn orphanage, am involved in a railway venture, own a steampunk submarine and has a collection of quirky homes. My favourite factions are orphans and rubbery men (the tentacles that were referenced in the song) and I've come to realise that I do not like revolutionaries. I'm willing to use them, but I also feel obligated to thwart them at every opportunity.

Fallen London has always been one of my favourite settings. Nowadays I'm... torn up about it, to say the least, but at its core it is a fantastic idea that has always had some fantastic writing in it, as well as bizarre lore that somehow works itself into you despite it sounding otherwise incomprehensible. The Stupendium did a phenomenal job carrying through the darkly comedic and enigmatic atmosphere through the song.

I agree, stupendiums potential is definitely worthy of a fully funded project. However, we get what we get from them because of the passion they inject into everything, amd they're able to consistently pump that passion by doing what they want to. At least i hope its something like that, and i'm sure with the right project they would happily apply themself 😁 god i love stupendiums work so much

The fallen london universe is honestly fantastic and you should check out "Sunless sea" which takes place in the "neath" as a zailor looking for fortune, secrets or pedigree at zee. "Fallen london" basically got bought out by weird lovecraftian bat people who bartered with queen elizabeth. They would save her lover for the city, and so london sunk into the "neath" and got caught up in all sorts of cosmic horror-esq style things. Cats hold secrets and will spill the beans if you can catch them! devils mingle within the crowd while bottling up souls for consumption and the ministry attempt to keep a sense of order. Honestly a fantastic setting.

It's always fun to see your take on Stupes after I've binged it for a bit, adds that extra little spice to the mix My take on the last verse is that it's the perspective of the writers who conceived of the idea of Fallen London (and therefore causing the Fall in their world) and the notion of it as an open canvas for character building and cool stories. Really fun use of language as well

  • @sanscipher9166

The last verse is actually from the perspective of Mr Pages, one of the Masters of Bazaar, strange cloaked figures who control all trade in Fallen London. They are the ones who brought London down, as an agreement with Her Enduring Majesty/The Traitor Empress.

Really? The way I understood it was that as the years pass in reality, the same amount of time pass in the game. So the year that the game launched correspond to a specific year in the victorian era and the years go by irl and in the game at the same pace. I could be wrong though.
