The three figures are the Norns. The Norns are deities in Norse, Germanic mythology who are responsible for shaping human destiny. Their names are Urðr, Verðandi, and Skuld. They stand for "what was", "what is" and "what is to come". They also care for and protect the "world tree" Yggdrasill, which stands at the center of the universe (seen in the video as an kind of "hourglass" or "tree of sand" where the women give birth to the children). Yggdrasill also connects the nine worlds of the Norse, Germanic mythology like Asgard, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Midgard (world of human beings), Jötunheim, Muspelheim, Nidavellir, Niflheim and Helheim.

@@walterpost9073maybe the series Ragnarok, but for a good look at the mythology you should look for a documentary. It is a complex religion after all, just as complex as the Greek one. Norse is currently very present in pop culture. The most known examples are Marvel's Thor and Loki, but also games like God of war.

You are absolutely right on this though. And I think all viewers, especially the Germans, watching his channel appreciate the way he does his videos. Appreciative of what he says, comments on his thoughts about it and elaborates why or how he interprets what he sees. No matter if we are watching memes or a music video, the style is consistent and very interesting to watch - which is also reflected in the channel growth. Good to see it is steadily going :) love ❤

The most underrated scene in this movie is the harvest scenery, I think. Pretty sure someone stated that already somewhere, I just don‘t have the ZEIT to read them all… ;) The harvest scene is cramped in between the wild crescendo and the heartbreaking death of Olivers daughter, the moment, when everybody is oberwhelmed by this „flip“ of the timeline. It‘s just the reverse order when the child dies earlier than the parent does and it is the most devastating thing imaginable if you have to bury your own child. That‘s when everyone cracks and shed some tears. (Maybe there‘s even a pun intended? You know, the bass player won‘t get a girl, right?). We are released into the harvest scene right after the wild, struggling crescendo, the music stops, the late summer scenery is warm and peaceful, Tills voice gets soft and calm. A scenery of timeless(!) beauty (zeitlose Schönheit). This is exactly the way like mankind did bring in the harvest for ages, for its entire settled history. And yet they are using the scythe, the tool of the grim reaper (in german: „Sensenmann“, literally „scythe man“). And I guess it is again on purpose, that the visuals remind you of the amish people, whose way of life seems to be a „time capsule“, because they refuse to „go with time“. And they do have some german ancestry, don‘t they? I‘m sure someone else pointed this out way better than I did, I apologize for iterations (and bad english). But these details don‘t get clear on first vision. You can‘t just do a „first reaction“ to a masterpiece of this dimension and realise every detail in it. I watched it several dozen times and still discover new gems. To be honest, some would have never come to my mind without these comment sections. But for sure, you are the one reactor who has the most insight and understanding compared to others, who doesn‘t get anything and instead making all kinds of odd faces. I like your work, because you put some effort and dedication in it. It‘s outstanding. Thanks a lot.

Also to be mentioned that the sentence "Augenblick verweile doch"/"Moment just stay" is a reference to one of the most famous German books, Goethes "Faust". Faust made a deal with the devil to live forever, until he is going to say "Augenblick verweile doch, Du bist so schön"/"Moment just stay, you are so beautiful". If he says this, the devil is free to take his soul/life. Again perfectly matching the "death scene".

"Augenblick, verweihle doch, ich bin noch nicht bereit" (Moment, just stay, I'm not ready yet) is a play with words with a quote from Goethe's Faust "Werd ich zum Augenblicke sagen: Verweile doch! du bist so schön!" (When I say to the Moment flying; 'Linger a while -- thou art so fair!') I loved Faust in school. I loved this line in the harvest scene. It hits hard. Listening to Rammstein for like 20 years. But *this song* is my absolut favorite.

It is truly admirable the way you react to the music, the lyrics and try to understand, which you often do. The lyrics are what attracts me most to Rammstein. The band's and the lead singer Till Lindemann's picking on a particular theme and putting it into words is extraordinary. The deeper meaning of it will remain hidden unless one listens carefully and repeatedly. Rammstein is one of the greatest bands of our time.

The director is Robert Gwisdek, an actor, rapper and poet. His parents are well-known actors in germany. Unfortunately his father had died two years before "Zeit". Robert is a friend of the keyboardist known as Flake and so he got his first job as an director. His second work is "Angst" by Rammstein. It's political and hits the zeitgeist (pun intended), so I highly recommend it for your channel.

I lost loved ones to old age and/or COVID just before discovering this video. It hit me like a freight train. Yes, time won't stop, the fishermen will drown, the soldiers will die, we won't go back to our mother's womb, and the farmer's daughter will die way before her time. Time being represented as an actual sandclock is a great metaphor. I cannot watch this video without shedding a tear, but it also drives me to make my dreams come true and live my life at the fullest, for I don't know how much Time I have left. The three beings looking like the angel of death are the 3 Norns (norse mythology) or the 3 Parques (greek/roman mythology. These goddesses constantly weave the fabric of Time. Sometimes they cut a thread and one human being dies, but at the same time another is being born.

Next Adieu? Glad you started to go through the rabbit hole of Rammstein. Keep it up and never forget to watch the video incl. outro. You will find at least three layers of interpretations/meaning in every video. So take your time, read the lyrics (translated if you need of course), watch the video, rethink .. and so on. The Live Concerts are Opera in a way, totally planned and timed to a second. Everything means something, even which song is song when. Here is a hint for the video “Zeit”: Three black figures of fate are named: They are called Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which is becoming) and Skuld (guilt; that which should be). Their names are considered Nordic equivalents of common medieval conceptual concepts of time in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), present (Verdandi) and future (Skuld). Although these three names are young, they seem to go back to an ancient Germanic idea of a nameless trinity of women of fate. Furthermore remember how the band members reacted while the sand (river of time) did hit them. Everybody reacted differently, sometimes to fight against time, sometimes no reaction at all. Though time always wins. Cheers, Pepe

Look for "Zick Zack" or "Dicke Titten" when you want to see the funny side of Rammstein. But please with english subtitles so you can understand the songs. Great visual work and deeper meaning are the Videos to "Angst" and "Adieu". Please with english subs too. One thing to the song Angst. Some subtitles translate the part "Alle haben Angst vorm schwarzen Mann" word by word into "Everybody is afraid for the black man". But this is too easy translated. The meaning of schwarzen Mann is not the Black man with dark skin, in Germany they mean something like the Boogeyman as a warning for little children. So go on reacting to Rammstein, I just waiting with joy for your next Reaction. Many greatings from Duisburg in Germany!

Those 3 Norns are nothing like a reaper. They never go and take someone's life. In all cases it's the people who approach, like the fishermen row towards them in their boat, the farmer's daughter walks to them while they are standing still... They are neither evil nor good, they are just there, always waiting for you to fulfill your faith. They are the time.

So, your reaction to this song and video was quite like mine. I had goosebumps allover when I first heard/saw it. I can't count anymore how often I've been watching it since then. I just love that masterpiece.

Try also "Mein Herz Brennt" both the normal and the Piano version... Totally different but both Rammstein! The Sven Hellbig piano version is sooo good with only Till singing. ❤

Nice Reaction. I have some recommendations for you for other german music to react to. A lot of it is really underestimated and is possible new to a lot of your viewers: >> Null Positiv - Kollaps (Official Video) >> FEUERSCHWANZ - Das Elfte Gebot (Official Video) >> SUBWAY TO SALLY - Ihr Kriegt Uns Nie (Official Video) >> Saltatio Mortis - Pray To The Hunter feat. „The Elder Scrolls Online“ (Official Video) >> HÄMATOM - Dagegen (Official Video) >> Samurai Pizza Cats - PIZZA HOMICIDE (feat. Nico Sallach of Electric Callboy) OFFICIAL VIDEO >> Eisbrecher - Zwischen uns (official video) >> Rammstein - Adieu (Official Video) >> NACHTBLUT - Lied Für die Götter (Official Video) A small selection, there are plenty more you can choose from. Keep up the good work!

Rammstein is my all favorite band. Here are some recommendations: Rammstein - Du Riechst so gut - [live aus berlin], Rammstein - Ich Will (Hurricane Festival 2016) and Rammstein - Tier (Live Aus Berlin) [CC]. And all of those are by the channel Bucksttabu, all of his videos have subtitles. :)

Great to see another Ramm reaction from you mate! Yet another reactor who's journey with the boys' magic has just begun but they know they're in for the zeit of their life (see what I did there? 😉) They're considered as industrial metal but I just say metal. Clearly more heavy than rock. The boys are art. Perfect art. No one is on their level. That's how good they are. No expense is spared to get their message across. No half arsed efforts. Keep them coming my friend You've earnt yourself another sub!

i just repost my comment from your other rammstein reaction: the list of recommendations for rammstein songs is easy: all of them. because every single song usually comes with a meaning (sometimes double meanings) and they are deeper than what people might hear on the surface. i'd highly recommend to watch the videos with english subtitles tho and there are 2 channels on youtube(no promotional benefits here) who did a great work over the years und subbed almost all rammstein songs (and often live performances). the first channel is "educatedmarine" and the other is "bucksttabu" of course you could pick videos from all over youtube (even the official rammstein channel) but then you'd have to do the translation of the lyrics on your own.

The Breath, you are one of the very few Reactors who noticed it Well Done, paying proper attention. Now the question is, Is It The First or Last Gasped Breath ? I think its for us to decide. The 3 hooded figures are not Death or The Grim Reaper but are the Norns of ancient northern European beliefs. They are 3 sisters, very basically they represent Past, Present and Future. Very similar to the Greek/Roman Fates.

Im glad youre giving Rammstein a fair chance because many arent. Theres a song with a similar vibe to this one called "Ohne Dich". Also has a music video but its much older, it was shot in 2004. This one is a very recent song/music video released just last year.

Thanks for your reaction. It was again very interesting, that you enjoyed the video as I did. There are more Rammstein videos I enjoy again and again. If you like to watch more, I can also recommend the following videos: 1. Zick Zack (represents the sound of scissors): a serious topic but a very funny interpretation, completely different from the song Zeit 2. Ich tue Dir weh (English: I hurt you): a classical Rammstein song, live at Madison Square Garden in New York, very insense music and stunning show 3. Radio (English: radio): the radio was in the early years of the communist part of Germany (GDR) the only means for people to escape mentally into the Western World. Rammstein know what they are singing about because they grew up in Eastern Germany. A very special interpretation of the desire to escape the grey world of communism. Greeting from Munich, Jens

"We have a word in English that uses part of it - Zeitgeist.", that's so hilarious. 😁 That's such an American-style statement, I begin to wonder if maybe the USoA really are Britain 2.0.. 😂 They incorporate the german feelings, anxiety and flat out Angst in a way they never fail to make me cry and look like a toddler after a particularly bad temper tantrum.. all snotty, getting Agonal respiration and just rivers of tears flowing down the worry lines that should never have been in a 30 yo persons face in the first place. 🤔

"Zeit" (time) is the title track of their last album so far. That album is created under the impression of personal losses of the band members. And in almost all tracks of that album there is a melancholic touch, even in the upbeat and funny tracks. For me a central line in the lyrics of this song is "Zeit, bitte bleib steh'n, bleib steh'n" (time, please stop, stand still). Of course that is not possible. It's about the unstoppability of time. And in the end it's up to every listener to reflect how to deal with this fact.
