The reason why her voice sounds so good on this album because she's older and it has more bass... So it makes her voice definitely bigger sounding and more full. Where normally this would not be great for a singer to have their voice drop as they get older, it actually makes her voice sound stronger.

This album is a masterpiece!! Now that you've caught up, I think you should revisit her albums from the beginning Janet Jackson, Dream Street, Control, and Rhythm Nation. Even though you're familiar with those albums, we'd love to see your reactions and input on how you feel about certain songs or memories that you'd like to share. Just a thought. Keep it up and many blessings to you!! 🎶❣️💃🏼❣️🎶

Broken Hearts Heal is about Michael... Like a written letter to him, so it makes the song bittersweet

The song “Broken Hearts Heal” was a tribute to Michael where she sampled “Billie Jean” and “Don’t stop til you get enough”. I remember when “No Sleeep” came out, I HATED that song because the radio played it so much😂

She was my 1st actual concert when she dropped this album, I attended late in my post teens/early 20s. Now been to 3 shows of hers, I can't get enough of her. Big fan boy lol since elementary school, I can't wait for her next show coming up again soon. This whole album was a big necessity for me at the time being dropped and from beginning to end of all of the track, was a big need. Took my mindset to a whole new level of great love an respect, also gratitude for everything her influence shown me and reflect on lots of things. It gives me goosebumps just thinking back on this whole album now 🙏💙💯.

Ahh, you've completed her discography, so kewl! MJ referred to her as the Queen of Music. Now you can see why. She dips into every genre successfully, without diminishing her own style. Hopefully you check out the vids too. Takes the songs to ANOTHER level. Re: This album - After You Fall song was absolutely about the aftermath of the Superbowl and Broken Hearts Heal was about her and Michael.

The great forever is my favorite song of the album. Her tone on the song sounds so similar to Micheal and my favorite part toward the end she says LUTFA.. meaning leave us the fuck alone.. After you fall had me in the biggest chokehold!!

"Gonna Be Alright", "Broken Hearts Heal" and "Well Traveled" are my favorite songs. "Gonna Be Alright" gives me Sly and the Family Stone vibes. I think this album had her best vocal moments. I'm still waiting for Janet's twelfth album Black Diamond. She had us all excited for that album. She gave us "Made For Now" and even a snippet of a new song called "Luv I Luv" at the end of her documentary.

Broken hearts heal was about Michael, and her fingers snapping was a nod to him. I don't know whether it was conscious or unconscious, but she was definitely doing it in his spirit. Jimmy Jam had talked about how Michael didn't have the normal strict etiquette that was expected of a singer in the booth: not a bunch of noise such as jewelry, clapping, snapping, stomping, etc.. But Jimmy said that it really worked for him. Michael would always leave that stuff in there and use it as part of the instrumentality of the song. In my personal opinion, I think Michael and Janet have always been spiritually connected in some. way. When she was recording this song Enjoy, Jimmy was telling her, "You sound so much like your brother." Janet was not trying to sound like Michael at all, but she was emotional thinking about him because he was going through his trial at the time. Jimmy couldn't see her behind the glass, but she was emotionally breaking down crying at times, with a bad feeling in her heart.

Another great review! I really dig your enthusiasm for The Empress of Pop's music! There's a full version of "Promise Of You" that was on the Target exclusive version and also, my favorite song off this album, was also on the Target version and its called "Love U 4 Life" check it out. That song ends way too early, but it has such a funky 70's vibe that I like a lot! Lastly, will you do a review of Janet's first two albums? Her self titled debut and her sophomore album? She didnt really have any creative input on those albums but she had some bops on them!

Janet definitely needs to give us some new music. this album was 2015. who is she now? what is her sound? has motherhood and marriage changed her? i wouldn't be mad if she reverted back to Rhythm Nation Janet in sound and style. that is my favorite era from her.
