And by the way - the bands image were pushed down their heads. They were young and inexperienced, and the record company saw the potential in these three young Nordic guys. They wanted a band to spread across posters and TV screens. All three looked good, but Morten in particular was exceptionally handsome, and he had a wonderful voice. Since a-ha were from little Norway, they accepted all opportunities that presented themselves. They believed that if they got their audience then they could shake off the poster boy image later. It was not as easy as they had hoped. On the fourth and fifth albums, they presented themselves with stubble and long hair, and although the two albums today stand up to the times very well, they were written off by many potential listeners because of the bands past. They took a break for a few years, and when they returned they were very well received. Everyone welcomed them back, both the audience and other famous artists, who openly declared that they had a great sense of a-ha. Chris Martin said that without a-ha, Coldplay would not have existed. Keane were fans, and even U2 took inspiration from "The sun always shines on TV" in their song "Beautiful Day."

first of all thankyou for reacting to A-HA’s take on me from MTV unplugged. i’m from Scotland and i’ve been an A-HA fan since the take on me days back in 1985. I was 16 then and i’m 53 now and love them just as much. A-HA are criminally unappreciated and underrated as musicians because they come from Norway. A-HA are still around today in 2022 and released a new album called true north in october 2022. that’s almost 4 decades of amazing music such a huge back catalogue and each A-HA song is different from the last one. I recommend you listen to the A-HA song SUMMER MOVED ON the reason why is because the band and especially the lead singer Morten Harket now in his early 60’s can still out sing anyone and they ended up in the guinness book of records for the longest note held in a song and the longest note held in a live show. There is a lot more to A-HA than take on me people don’t realise that. Take on me is just the tiniest tip of a very large musical iceberg. Morten is a versatile vocalist who can sing almost anything, not only in the studio but also live. I see you got recommendations on three songs. If you want one more on the list, I suggest you react to a song from the last album, either the title track, True North or Bumblebee.

A pop classic, now a fragile, tender, intimate moment of sincerity. It shows the strength of the song writing. The song works just as well if it's a shout or a whisper. Marvellous. I'd like to recommend a-ha's Sycamore Leaves and East of the Sun. Both from the same album. Performed live on NRK 1991 is one of the best sets they ever did.

Yes the nrk studio session is absolutely awesome.

A good mtv unplugged performance. By A ha .. Nirvana did a memorable unplugged....Good video dave

Incredibly underrated band. They have so many amazing tracks. If you’re interested, Manhatten Skyline is a great song; but so are most of their other ones! They never were the teenage girly band they were portrayed as. I found them at age nine, still a fan at age 46. Many albums deep now! And as others have said, new album not long out. Morten must be 62 ish now, how does he find the stamina?! 😂 P.S. I’ve subscribed 👍

Great reaction and song from one of the greatest bands from my country! 🙂 Could you check out Melee - Cant hold on? Its kinda of obscure, I think... but really great melody, lyrics and performance from the band.. but the vocals really "SHINE" in this one.. Is there some producers magic added to his spectacular voice? 🙂 Cheers 🙂
