hello here are the lyrics Take heed, dear heart once apart She can touch nor me nor you Dressed as one a wolf will betray a lamb Lead astray the gazers The razors on your seducing skin In the meadow of sinful thoughts Every flower's a perfect one To paradise with pleasure haunted Haunted by fear A sin for him Desire within, desire within A burning veil For the bride too dear for him A sin for him Desire within, desire within Fall in love with your deep dark sin I am the fallen You are what my sins enclose Lust is not as creative as its discovery To paradise with pleasure haunted Haunted by fear A sin for him Desire within, desire within A burning veil For the bride too dear for him A sin for him Desire within, desire within Fall in love with your deep dark sin Bless me, undress me Pick your prey in a wicked way God, I must confess, I do envy the sinners A sin for him Desire within A burning veil For the bride too dear for him A sin for him Desire within, desire within For the bride too dear for him A sin for him Desire within, desire within Fall in love with your deep dark sin

Oldest song played at Wacken 2013 , 3rd song on the setlist. Studio version is with Tarja, and Sami Vanska on bass, from the 2000 3rd album ,Wishmaster. Tuomas has said that the song is about the hidden sins that everybody has. Marko had just introduce Floor to the crowd, saying that they have a new presence, a new face on stage. And as a contrast , they would do a song from the vaults. So , you're saying Jukka is using a sledgehammer with one hand, and a fine detail sculpting tool with the other? And again, nice box , Rich.😁😛🤣.

Orgasmic, indeed. TimoArula said it perfectly. This is Nightwish. Tuomas brings the whole package that just attracts the right group of musicians to this band... and Floor fits in perfectly. You are also correct with your comments about Jukka on drums and then Kai Hahto on drums later on. They are different but both are amazing talents. I loved it. Thank you.

Imagine Floor, being a highly sensitive person, feeling aaaall that energy during the whole concert 9:56 no wonder she did it so beautifully and looked so so happy that night 14:19 so so sooo true, Tuomas and Emppu's connection is super tight, not only as artists, but as friends, the complete trust is there. Jukka on the other hand... Was a beast in the best way possible. These days, Kai is quite similar, but more "controlled"

And every time she goes on stage it is her stage, every time. It doesn`t matter who she is there with. It is Floors stage! And she can make you believe that she is singing just for you. And we stupid guys around the globe keep falling in love with her! :D She is one of a kind and the best performer on this planet. Male or female. Great reaction as allways Eric!

It took almost 15 years for me to start listening to Nighwish again thanks to you. I especially like how professionally you can break the song into parts and bring out the performances of the players. Now, above all, you put a smile on my face, how deservedly you raised Empu's performance and how good he is. I myself have been there a long time ago to see Nightwish several times, for example at the last concert of the End of Era tour and in my opinion at their best concert (From Wishes to Eternity) in Tampere some 22 years ago. In retrospect, I have better understood how good Nightwish was already during the time when the dinosaurs of Finnish Rock, the most beautiful man in metal music with a mind-blowing vocal range and Darude's Sandstrom dominated Finnish music. Yes... and the most respected guitarist was Wild Child Alexi Laiho.

Everybody who listens, loves Nightwish. I am impressed by how you explain why. I see Tuomas as a once in a generation composer, writing on a completely different level, and we are blessed to be living in his time. I liken it to being able to see Franz Liszt on tour, listening to Mozart play his works, but in my mind ... especially hearing Bach sit at an organ and play his masterpieces. As a generation we are unlikely to fully appreciate what we have in this band, but there will be a time when those who succeed us will envy us experiencing these geniuses in real time. You are so correct, they are masters, and while it's unlikely any of them will ever make a top five list, it is just a sign of how ignorant the listening public is about music, musical composition and the performance of it. In the US, the population has been taught the lowest common denominator in music by an industry who honors derivative compositions over originality. If it sells, do it again and again and again, and we have an entire generation who has absolutely no idea of what incredible music is. If they can shake their ass to it, they buy it. We need to go outside our marketplace to find quality, and I appreciate how you break down these genius performances and explain why. You are so correct about Emppu. He is so unique in his skillset, and so many people don't recognize how truly brilliant he is, yet so humble he just does what he does, takes a sip of Corona, then does it again. This is a composition from the Tarja era, but I've noticed how Tuomas has completely changed his composing to incorporate the color pallet that Floor brings to the group. Now that he's totally free, all the colors in the universe, he weaves webs of an entire spectrum. I'll stop before this becomes a novel, but thank you, Eric!! I'm an old fart, but I always learn something by listening to you. I concur!

Eric: your brilliant analysis explains what sets Nightwish apart! Other “reactors” have delved into what Floor brings with her extraordinary vocals, but you have cracked the Nigjtwish code wide open! Here, at last, is a decoding of the superb talents every band member brings, and how it all layers together. Thanks!

I love your breakdowns. Your perception of music is different, and I like it. And yeah....That Singer Reacts heard Marko sing and was like "This isn't fair! They can't have THAT much talent in one band!" But they did and do, and it's a treat to watch them. Floor is on vacation while adding to her family, so we have all these shows....and it's an embarassment of riches.

  • @ValtteL
    @ValtteL10 ай бұрын

Well said. I think there was a big change in the evolution of Nightwish when Marko joined and they clearly started paying much more attention to the sound as a whole. They moved from a power metal to a more symphonic and film score-like style. Marko has often talked about the fact that he wanted to bring an old school bass sound to the band, as if it was straight from the 70s. He called it the "anti-pro tools sound." He wanted it to have a lot of charisma and power. Tuomas, Emppu and Jukka agreed on that. Then Emppu's style also started to change. One of Nightwish's greatest strengths has definitely been their signature sound. In my opinion, one of the biggest problems with bands is that they have a really boring, copycat sound. Every band should find their own.

I watched them in the Ziggo Dome, Netherlands, november 2022. After seeing so many near-perfect "live" videos on KZread I was a bit concerned it might end in disappointment, because with those videos they set a very high standard for themselves. But they actually met that standard. A truly unforgettable experience. BTW nice sleeve there - A Perfect Circle, Mer de Noms. One of Maynard's masterpieces. I see our tastes match up quite a bit 🙂

Jukka is blasting those drums , Marko is slamming on that bass, Tuomas hammering his keyboard, Emmpu adds flavor to it all and Floor grabs the Whole Crowd ..... This Is Nightwish, This is Floor Jansen , This is "She Is My Sin"!!!! As for Floor's presence and command on stage goes, here is a little story: Floor Jansen can remember the first time she took on the knuckleheads and won. It was the early 00s, and her band, After Forever, were part of a tour whose bill featured a mix-and-match assortment of other, exclusively male, European metal outfits. The presence of a female singer on stage was apparently too much for some, frequently sending the less- enlightened members of the crowd into a testosterone-fuelled meltdown. “I’d get shit from the audience all the time,” she says. “‘Oh look, there’s a woman up there.’ In the beginning, I thought it was just part of it. But it soon became, ‘Really?’ They’d either be screaming ‘Slayer!’ or ‘Boobs!’ ‘OK, we’re not Slayer and I have boobs - very perceptive of you, can we move on now?’” Given that the woman their unwanted attentions were focused on was, in her own words, “headstrong and forceful and not afraid to call people out”, it was inevitable that things were going to come to a head at some point. Floor can’t remember the date, or even the venue when it happened, but she vividly recalls how the confrontation played out. “This guy was just constantly shouting stupid stuff at me: ‘[Moronic Beavis And Butt-Head voice] UH, BOOBS!’ This guy would not shut up. Eventually, I just said: ‘Seeing as you have such a big mouth on you, why don’t you come and tell me all these things to my face after the show?’” There was, she says, a mass intake of breath from the audience. A six- foot Dutch woman armed with a fearsome death stare and a reservoir of patience about to run dry had just publicly offered out a drunken troglodyte. There was only ever going to be one winner in this smackdown. “Yeah, I picked a fight with that guy from the stage,” she says. “It worked like a charm. He didn’t say another word.” She arches a dismissive eyebrow. “If you want to be that stupid, by all means do it. But you don’t deserve my attention.” NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

And again , Ill never understand why this song gets so overlooked in this concert . Seeing Juka play is a complete different experience. To me, Juka became possibly one of the best drummers in music. He is just a master. Not taking anything away from all other bands, but I consider Nightwish to possibly be THE best band in musical history. They are just something we are so blessed to have in our time. We will never experience such art in our lives again.

I met Marko and his brother at the "Kuopio Rock", end of July. "Tarot" had many gigs. Although, it was not sure, if Tarot Would ever play again. They Lost their original drummer and they had an "agreement" if one of them dies, it is The end.

Sakari talked about this some weeks ago. He said that others are busy with their touring and studio stuff (TK and Marko solo). Sakari has a job and sick wife at home, so he will never tour again. He said it's possible they will do gigs here and there. He said that next summer maybe one of the big festivals could be possible.

I have read a comment saying that Marko did the mix of Wacken2013, emphasizing what he thought was important: Floor's voice. And I think that he was the one who suggested Floor during the Denver debacle (as he knew her and had performed with her long before she joined Nightwish). You can see clearly that he is very happy with Floor during this show, but she started also overruling his role in the band: During the Tarja and Anette era it was his voice and performance that had to fill in a lot of gaps, but with Floor there were not many gaps left for him to fill.... Add Troy who had more and more influence on the sound and subjects (Celtic sound, Dawkins/evolution as a theme): On the Human:||: Nature album there was only one song left for Marko, Endlessness, his last.....

In the early 2000's Nightwish went on an European festivaltour with After Forever . All of Nightwish knew Floor and she was thought of as replacement for Tarja but Tuomas didn't want to break up an other group in the proces. Tarja and Floor are friends and this is why Floor will not sing certain songs.

Interesting point about Marko's role in the band. I remember having read a couple old interviews (can't find any now) where he openly stated that he didn't quite like the direction they had taken with Imaginaerum (more orchestra, less metal in the music; more choreography, less improvisation on stage). An old-school rocker, he definitely preferred the more straightforward approach of the early days. Perhaps, there is more to his departure than just the mental issues and getting fed up with the music industry horseshite... Our dear vriend Brendon has dropped a short clip (an outtake from the "Ayreon Universe" behind-the-scenes) that might shed some light on the issue. As it turns out, our poor viking suffered horrible emotional abuse on the part of the Valkyrie Goddess herself... lol.🤣 If we're being serious though, Marko wasn't the only one underused on H:N. Everyone was, including Floor. "Endlessness" is my favourite song on the album - which in this case is just a fancy way to say "least dislikable" - and it barely features Floor at all, which speaks volumes. The band is little more than Tuomas, Troy's massive pipes and that bloody orchestra at this point...

Also, I thought it was a good match on Sunday, Arsenal only just came out on top. Man Utd were the better side for good portio 22:21 ns of the game. I think a draw would've been a fair result. Fortunately, we were serving Rice at the Emirates. Stay safe, brother!

I think United are disjointed. A lot of wasted ball time and missed passes or silly moves that give up possession. Anthony and Bruno drive me nuts. I'm spoiled by the "old days" of having a brilliant mid-fielder like Scholes or Keane. United used to be a threat at any time, now they seem like they take what they can get, instead of creating chances. I could go on! I still support my Red Devils, but I'm not blind to what I see on the pitch. Cheers, Eric

He can't dribble past any full back, which is really something. I'm a neutral observer but United really looks like disjointed group at the moment.

People go back to this concert a lot, because it's a really good recording... Floor's performance is already so good at this point. But strikingly, you can kind of tell from this song that the band wasn't yet entirely comfortable with her, or else she wasn't yet fully confident in her role. I say that because compared to the album version, this performance by Floor is almost pure emulation. All of the flourishes she puts to Nightwish's old songs these days are missing. She's even copying the way Tarja misspelled the lyrics (DISYRE). There's still a difference in that Floor is going less opera and more metal for this one. That's what you do when you don't really get the song, but you're just doing what you think is best to please the fans.
