Hello, I am a 60 year old ARMY (4+ years). They literally have no bad song!! I ha e seen a lot of groups and solo artists in my lifetime, but I have never seen a group so in tune with their fanbase as BTS is. And to see that even after 10/11 years they are so humble and down to earth is really unheard of in the music industry I think. Even while on their Military break, they are still releasing things for us!! They are the best of the best!

This song was made FOR ARMY! ARMY recognizes all of the scenes from previous videos, and a few that were representative of songs like the whale from their song Whalien, their performances from award shows, like the star constellations, their crying at the award show when J-Hope started crying, and Jin mentioned that they were talking about breaking up. If you listen to the chorus melody, it also is used in the Butter MV and song, where RM raps about how they have ARMY behind them when they say so, as the other members spell out the Letters A R M Y behind him, this song made for ARMY is the melody you hear.

The line that always hits me so hard in this song is RMs "Our once ridiculed and shameful name is now proof set in steel. 'Bullet-proof'" They used to get mocked for that name, but it couldn't be more fitting I also just realized that it was kinda teasing their anthology album "Proof" that came out in 2022, with concept photos of them, standing in front of a safe/shield made of steel

That line gets me too. It's crazy how they tease things like that in all sorts of media from songs to concert vcr's, award show vcr's you name it. We just didn't know for a while cuz everything got pushed back becuz of covid, they already had so much prepared in 2019 for their future enlistment.

I’m 70 and fell in love with them about 8 years ago from my grand daughter. When I heard Jin sing Epiphany I was hooked. These young men went through so much and came out on Top. Jin will be home June 12th and All of Them in 2025. Love your channel. One of there first very touching songs is Young Forever 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I'm glad you realized what's not so obvious to some. It's not just another song for fans with cute animations. Each image is loaded with so many memories of each moment lived. It's not just the work and effort, the glories and difficulties of the boys. The thing is, throughout that time ARMY was present, with them, supporting them and loving them. It is the BTS-ARMY relationship of those first 7 years. From No more dream to Boy with luv. And now we continue supporting them, waiting for their return, because the best is yet to come.💜

This song is gorgeous and then this video is a ridiculously perfect gift to ARMY. We spot all the references. I cry literally every time because they're *happy* and they're saying we did that. We are not seven with you. 💜 And they really are bulletproof now. They did a similar thing with the video for Yet to Come, which is also made to speak directly to ARMY. I like hearing your experiences of us. At its best ARMY is a powerful and compassionate force for good. Also, you can be ARMY if you want! I realized I was when I was watching the NPR tiny desk and heard "ARMY, can you hear me?" and I answered out loud. "I can hear you!" If you catch yourself wanting to defend them when someone says something ridiculous, you're definitely in 😁💜

I love this song as it has a lot of meaning for the guys and for army. As you've caught on their is references to previous MV's. In the beginning we see RM (boy with luv attire) walk to a mirror and see his reflection being 2013 RM. The next we see Jungkook in No More Dream, V in We are Bulletproof pt.2, J-Hope in N.O, Jin in Boy in Luv, Jimin in Danger, and Suga in his I Need U outfit from a live performance. There is a lot of insider references many veteran army (what we refer to the army that have been with them since debut or even pre-debut) especially will understand. The guys were saved by army too so they are letting us know here. There was a lot of hate directed at the guys when they debuted & to their fans too, many Korean army got mocked & bullied a lot for liking them at the time. We see each member struggling at the beginning V falling with the blocks, J-Hope being chased & put in a shrinking box or being boxed in. This is an interesting reference now cuz he released his solo album "Jack in the Box" in 2022 which shows a completely different side to himself musically. I also think the guys especially RM struggled with being boxed in by labels like what is considered hip hop or kpop idols or real artists etc. He was mocked a lot for "being too ugly to be a kpop idol" he references this in a rapline song "Cypher 4", Korea has really high beauty standards and adults would literally tell him that to his face. The part where Jungkook is engulfed in a black wave appears to be a reference to something called a "black ocean" in kpop. In kpop most groups have a light stick for their fans and during award shows everyone keeps their lights on the whole time or during someone performing whether it's their group performing or not to be respectful of all artists there (they will raise it up & wave it when their group does perform). A "black ocean" is an organized protest against an artist, it's a way of saying "you don't deserve to be on that stage" it's a gut punch to the artist. BTS received 2 in 2016, other fans of other groups were pissed they won major awards that year (only groups from the Big 3 kpop companies YG,SM, & JYP had ever won main awards, no groups from a small label or independent company had ever won. The Big 3 had a monopoly on the kpop industry). There are many other references in this mv like Suga holding his bad shoulder (he goes more into this in his solo work but in a car accident he injured his shoulder which caused him a lot of pain for many years). I'm sure there are many more things I'm leaving out but I think this is what made me emotional watching for the first time cause we know they went thru hell and back. What most new to BTS aren't aware of is they didn't go through the normal channels in the music industry or playing the industries games to get where they are today, neither the korean music industry or the western industry they did it purely with the support of their fans. They have a very strong bond with us and it's nothing that I've ever experienced before as a fan. I came from rock music, I never felt part of a "fandom" like this before. When they say thank you or we love you guys, they mean every bit of it as if they are speaking to a family member or a very close friend.

The animation goes through all of their videos, from the first one to the last one that came out before the album that this song is on dropped, Boy With Luv. Your reaction to this song and video is exactly why I watch your videos. We didn't need to explain who the song was for or that the images were from other videos. We didn't even need to explain that the video was animated because it was created during Covid, when everything and everyone was in lockdown. One thing that I did want to point out was that the video came out during 2020's Festa. Because of the situation, we didn't expect a new video from them and seeing a journey through their history as well as hearing them sing about how they were only seven but they have us now, well, Damn near every single reaction that I saw to the video had people crying. Nearly everyone who saw it ended up in tears, including me. The video also has a lot of Easter eggs in it for ARMY, some of which are not so nice. Like the black wave that hits JK. That's a reference to what is called a black ocean. It's when an audience turns off or hides all of their light sticks so, instead of a sea of lights, they see nothing but darkness when they look out into the audience. BTS was subjected to that, twice. Suga is holding his left shoulder, the one that was injured in an accident when he was a trainee. RM was drowning until the first purple lights of ARMY found him and helped him to the surface. The whale that carried them to he heights and then turned into a stadium of ARMYs. The seven of them standing there with tears pouring down while red-haired J-Hope is holding a trophy. That actually happened during an acceptance speech for a award when they admitted that they'd almost broken up at the beginning of the year. It's a very emotional video and song for both ARMY and BTS.

army is literally the best fandom i've been in you go to concerts, people are handing out free stuff you meet people irl and they are nothing but nice and kind sometimes army gets a bad rep because fandoms in general can have some toxic people and we're a pretty big fandom (though i find most of the toxic ones pick and choose to stan certain members and hate the other ones so a lot of these people aren't really 'army' in my opinion) i've been in A LOT of fandoms and army is one of the best for sure true army are some of the most kind people you'll meet and i think that's because the group we like has the same energy

This MV never fails to make me emotional. Kudos to the K-Army who supported, encouraged, and protected BTS in the early days when they went through so many hardships. I've been a big music fan for many years going back to Michael Jackson, Prince, etc. and I've never seen anything like this, especially the love they give back to the fans and how much they publicly talk about their love for the fans. They did so much to keep us connected even while they are doing their military service. It's remarkable. 💜

I balled when I listened to this song… the overwhelming emotions I can feel from army and from the members… and the mental fortitude of the members to persevere through trials to be where they are…. Brings me to tears

This song was part of the Map of the Soul: 7 album, which was released right around the time before the pandemic lockdown started (Feb 21, 2020), so the song isn’t about during the pandemic. The song and video refer to their journey from the beginning to up to the current for their seventh year in 2020. The journey of members walking through the music video (eras) and the extreme push back. You see the black ocean (antis/haters turn off their lightsticks during shows) wave wash over/drowning them. Young RM the leader sinking in the ocean. A member being shot at (bullets aimed at them) and then being trapped in a box (industry, people trying to squish them into a box, lack of freedom/pressure to not be themselves/express themselves) and how army got them through and out of the hard times (the whale shooting them into the sky, where you get a sense of freedom/like heaven). Idk unless you an army who watched original content, at least for me, I noticed the guys crying near the end, they are wearing the same outfits when the guys gave their ending ment for the last Wings/Epilogue concert where they cried talking about what they’ve been through and what they will be from now on…but you see Hobi holding a MAMA award. If you watched 2018 MAMA speech, where they cried winning their Artist of the Year award. It was third year winning it, but earlier that year was a huge scare for the guys personally, because they were faced with the question whether they should disband (not sign the renewal contract) but then were able to realize they want to keep going for army for another 7 years. So it was meaningful for them to have survived that scare earlier that year and they worked hella hard and became even bigger that year in 2018. By the way, they signed the contract in the fall(?) of 2018 which was ahead of time, because the next 7 year contract to starts June 13, 2020.

I think the whale refers to their song titled "Whalien 52". It's one of their songs that really makes me feel very emotional. Its content is indeed a metaphor about a lonely whale, the 52 Hz whale. In 1982, a secret program of the United States Navy discovered a mysterious sound in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. With the same pattern, this 52Hz frequency sound kept echoing. A whale, called Whalien 52, sings a song that no other whale would hear. Whales are known as social animals, living in groups of 6 to 10 other whales, migrating around the ocean year-round. They communicate through 'singing'. Whale songs typically range from 12 to 25Hz, but Whalien 52 sings at a frequency almost twice as high as what other whales can hear. It's highly unlikely that other whales would hear Whalien 52; this song would only be noise to them. This whale is called the lonely whale because no other whales hear its song. This meaning depicts BTS's dream back in 2015, before they had as many ARMYs as they do now. Even now, I still feel the emotions I felt the first time I heard and understood the meaning of this song. I love this song and MV so much. Commenting on your discussion at the end - it took me some months before I went from ‘a fan of BTS’ to being Army. For me, the music alone didn’t do it. Watching their other content and starting to care about the members was my turning point. It's such a nice thank you to the fans for standing by them over the years. I love that about BTS. They put the fans first. As you all mentioned, they know they would not have ever made it this far without ARMY. Or anywhere really being from a small company with all the challenges they had to go through. But, every performance, every concert, every awards show, the first thing they do after is go Live to talk to ARMY. They don't go to after parties. They have said it many times. Nope! Speaking of their fan base, Jungkook opened an Instagram account for his dog few days ago and it was automatically the fastest pet account to reach 1 million followers on Instagram. It reached like 3 million in less than a day. I'm not sure at what number it is on now. LOL. They're in a league of their own really. I think Taylor Swift is the only one that's a close second with Swifties. Thank you for sticking with them. I can't wait when you do some of their live performances. MAMA 2019 is one of the most EPIC performances every. So is their 2022 Grammys. But, all their concerts are so energetic and fun.
