Thank you! Yeah this album is crazy good. it's gonna be hard to top.
If you listen closely to the end of are we still friends? You will notice the final note is missing, and it actually compliments with the first note of Igor's theme, making the album a loop
@lusciousluie

Love that fact!
awesome! tylers crazy, he REMAINS self produced and his range only gets bigger. total icon in the making, this ones a classic for sure as far as 'old tyler', hes been stepping out of his 'skate rap' box the past 5 years or more. he actually has a lot of singles pre and post IGOR that are more of his rap / bar heavy stuff (OKRA, Potato Salad, etc)

Crazy timing lol thanks a lot!
something that blew my mind was that if you replay the album, the synth notes turn it into a loop. and that ties in with the story. Because Tyler still being friends with the person eventually leads him into falling in love with him again. And keeps falling back into the same loop

Man, loving this channel and the reactions, the in-depth commentary the way you explain your feelings on the songs and the overall connection with the music. I would personally love to hear your comments and see your reaction to underscores, Glass Beach, Porter Robinson and Madeon (any album from them tbh). All their albums go in a more electronic direction (glass beach specifically going jazzy and experimental), but if you want more rock, punk, I would HIGHLY recommend ANY album from IDLES, CLIFFDIVER and Carly Cosgrove (last 2 are pretty underground bands but they kick so much ass with their sound) All the artists I'm refering to got a lot of lyrical content in their music that are so cool to disect, for me specially "nurture" by Porter and Carly Cosgrove. I think you'll like them a lot c:

I really appreciate this so much. I really feel this music on a deep level and don't think it gets explored enough in reviews. I'm actually interested in hearing some of these electronic bands! Thank you for these suggestions!
HELL YEAH MAN! I woke up and just saw this in my notifications. I've been discovering Tyler The Creator's discography lately as well, of course started with IGOR. This is one of the best albums I've ever heard and it's gotten me back into this genre as a whole. Cool to see you discovering this style too! Will be watching now, excited for this one 👍

@Luie Plays Drums just finished watching, great vid! Only thing you said I slightly opposed was saying the track "i don't love you anymore" didn't do it for you musically. I think listening to the album more over time, I've grown a weird appreciation for the song specifically for the ending. Thematically fits of course, but I think it musically has some great parts. Though on that point, every time you relisten to the album, a new appreciation grows for a track, which is why it's such a mind-blowing album. If you want another Tyler album to react to on the channel I recommend Flower Boy next. In my opinion not as good as IGOR but who knows maybe you'll like it more as it's an absolutely amazing album.
@lusciousluie

@@NINB3N Thanks for the feedback! So i had this conversation with my best friend last night. For me, it was the hook in that song. Just didnt hit for me one first listen as well as the others. But after relistening last night, the rest of the song was really clicking. It just shows how stacked the album was. Flowerboy will definitely be the next on the list!
@NINB3N

@@lusciousluie Very stacked indeed! Excited to see the Flowerboy reaction in the future!
The Al Green Song he sampled and modified on Are We Still Friends is itself a masterclass is studio jamming and pacing so of course that’s my favourite song from this album from a musical standpoint. The drums aren’t especially technical but they might be my favourite part of the whole thing, a good 70s drum sound is a sumptuous thing idk.
@lusciousluie
Жыл бұрын
That song is so freeing. Yeah technicality don't always interest me. I can always go for a solid pocket beat and that really did it for me.
this album consistantly gives me shivers, its soo good!!!!
@lusciousluie
Жыл бұрын
Agree! These synths and the beat drops are perfect.
Tyler has one of my favorite progressions as an artist. Like cherry bomb is his most polarizing album but to me that album is his bridge between his new and old sound. And the fact that tyler takes so much of his music into his own hands earns a lot of respect from me. The more involved an artist is in the process, the more genuine and honest it will come out. Especially for an album like this.

He won a grammy for this album! very well recieved. His Igor alter ego, all the aesthetics and flavours his songs has, it really glows all the love he has for music in general, the samples and production are timeless. I while I Don’t love you anymore is arguably the worse on the album, it still plays an integral part to the story. It’s supposed to feel out of place because you just had the grand acceptance of Gone Gone/Thank you so why do you need another song about that? Because it’s not real, even tho Tyler is saying he’s over his ex, he isn’t and he’s lying to himself which is why he ends up asking Can we still be friends, which just makes him fall in love all over again.
@lusciousluie

100% agree with that. The other songs clicked instantly and that was the one that didn't. Nothing wrong with that. It's actually impressive that was the case.
