The problem is that blackmail exists and if you aren't careful one of the people paying for your nudes can screenshot it and share it. I had personally faced this where I was blackmailed to pay a certain amount or they would post links to my nudes all over the place. I didn't pay and they posted the links all over my instagram. Took a while for me to get it removed and honestly it was nerve wrecking. Basically I didn't want it to be shared like that. I didn't want friends and family to see me like that. Basically if they knew where I worked my boss and coworkers could have seen it because in general people are assholes. Not everyone paying for your onlyfans will respect you, they won't have the best intentions and some may use this against you to get something out of you. These are the risks you will need to worry about. There is no such thing as safe in onlyfans.

In our world sex sells, which is a problem considering that we lack proper sexual education and wouldn't need to use porn and sexual images as a form of sexual education. We could of normalized female sexuality long ago had we been given a proper sexual education along with resources to help us in areas that are in desperate need of attention. Yes it is hard to make a living but onlyfans is basically a pyramid scheme that relies on your marketing skills started by a corporation that profits off your body. Which in itself is also a scam. The fact that inflation has imparted you in ways to be unable to scrape by is evidence of the government failing you at an economic standpoint. If we fix the economy and improve our country with education and health we wouldn't need onlyfans.

I believe a big problem with the vegan influencers using fast fashion is that most of those influencers are white and how it shows that they believe that animals are more important than POC. I agree that any small change you can make the world better is important but the all mighty attitude they take on without looking into their privilege is a big problem. I hope this makes sense. But I think it's also important to recognize how many people are abused in the animal agriculture industry. The working conditions on factory farms are dangerous and the workers are forced to torture animals as they scream. It's not just animals who are abused in that industry. the main problem i have with insanely cheap places like shein and forever 21 is that the low prices encourage overconsumption..... for example i always see people on tiktok doing massive shein hauls with like hundreds of items, which they could afford because their prices are so low. the issue with this is that those clothes are really only made to last about a year, so most of those items will end up in a landfill somewhere not too far in the future.

Overconsumption is the main issue! Buying what you need from fast fashion is ok, whatever. But because it’s cheap and they’re bored, people buy a ton of stuff they don’t love or won’t use and end up throwing away. If it’s fast fashion but you genuinely get a lot of use out of it that’s nowhere near as bad as mindless purchases.

YES! Being able to shop wherever you want and buy whatever you want is a privilege. Both on the side of money and body. I’m not rich by any means but I have the money to splurge and buy something really nice for myself every now and then, however I’m more on the bigger size so a lot of the time those places I want to splurge at don’t have my size, so when I want clothes I usually have to go down the cheaper and less ethical route just to merely find clothes to fit. While I agree that there is glamorizations of sex work I feel like this comes from b-list celebs and you tubers/influencers. If you ask any sex worker who’s been in the business for more than a week they’ll tell you that it’s a hard job and it’s not as fun as it seems. We (sex workers) want to be able to talk honest and openly about the negative side of the business but often get shut down by influencers who talk about how easy it is for them. A majority of the danger and problems sex workers face comes from the social stigma and the fact that it’s criminalized. If governments gave a major overall of the laws surrounding sex work it would make it safer for the public and sex workers which in turn would reduce the negative side of the business!

(This is even after refinancing.) Having worked in financial aid, I can confidently say that I feel the student loan game (both federal and private) is predatory and the "counseling" offered is inadequate for young borrowers and their families. I'm not going to argue "life isn't fair," but I'd encourage considering that none of us asked to be part of this unfair life. People who have borrowed loans to get an education are trying to improve their circumstance compared to others who got "luckier," and even people who are paying back their loans are negatively impacted by the current system. Life might not be fair, inherently, but our education system is changeable. It does not have to remain unfair.

I do believe that a 4 year college education should be free in America, one of the wealthiest nations in the world. If we are able to finally evolve our for profit education system and accomplish that, I do not believe we should 'go back to paying after that.' The interest I have paid could have paid for the education for at least one other person, but instead, it is trickled up to some of the wealthiest people in the country... who get exponentially wealthier. The circuitous system that punishes people for being born into poverty, then punishes them for attempting to escape poverty, and then punishes them for being unable to live in poverty is built largely out of our education system. It's well overdue for a remodel.

It's like women from the past saying that they didn't get to vote so neither should we now. Or black people from the past saying that they couldn't sit at the front of the bus or go to a white school or eat in certain restaurants or use certain bathrooms or fountains (or literally anything to do with slavery/discrimination) so the next generations shouldn't get to. Or gay people saying that they weren't allowed to get married when they wanted to so future couples shouldn't get to either. Not only is it very tone deaf and plays into the white saviour narrative, it also annoys me that celebrities are telling us common folk to donate. Like charity is good and all but st the end of the day the person saying it could have wayyy more of an impact if they gave up some of their MILLIONS instead of telling people that will never see a million to give. Also the whole plastic thing shouldn’t have been so focused on the consumers but on companies that mass produce it. I don’t use plastic straws and try to reuse bags and plastic bottles but if they’re still being mass produced and there has not been a drive or even a desire for an alternative what’s the point? These companies are greedy and don’t really want to change but at the same time they’re the billion dollar corporations that should have been cracked down on

I’ve been vegan for five years and just turned 20, I am a college student and the fact that I can be vegan and try to be sustainable in my food and beauty, means a lot to me. But I’m plus size, and clothes are very expensive. So I have to go to more fast fashion stores just to get clothes that fit me, but I keep saving, and I keep working, and I hope to be able to become even more eco-friendly as I go. But you’re so right, I need to be nicer to myself, and remember that I’m doing what I can and that’s all anyone can do.

the IVF vs. adoption thing makes me mad because why would we call infertile couples selfish for not adopting...when we don't say the same thing about non-infertile couples? like by the logic of "there's so many kids out there waiting to be adopted," shouldn't everyone adopt, not just infertile couples? But the reality is that most people choose to have biologic children, so why single out infertile couples for being "selfish" when they're just trying to do the same thing? Infertility is so devastating for so many people, don't judge someone when they're already down and trying to make the most personal and difficult decisions of their lives. Tired of this kind of virtue signaling. Like "oh they should just adopt and help someone in need" Ok Karen, you have multiple children and the easiest time getting pregnant, sit down. How come you didn't adopt or foster? Infertility is literally a disease and there's no shame in seeking out medical treatment

I took a class on sex and women in society and we took two weeks to discuss the porn industry. It made me cry because of how difficult the porn industry was on women and how it essentially promotes violence and the objectification of women, even though many people like to say that’s not the case. The article we read showed a huge correlation between violence against women and porn and so I think onlyfans is an incredible platform because it has allowed the women (and men) who participate to really benefit from the content they are making to the fullest extent while only pushing out whatever content they are fully comfortable with and it also normalizes women as being people who also enjoy sex because even still we are not supposed to enjoy sex as much as men. Personally I don’t have any OF and I don’t know if I ever will but I have such respect for the people who do and who are benefiting from an industry that was meant to put them down.

I wouldn’t say that I disagree with the points you brought up about Onlyfans, but as someone who recently turned 18, I do believe that in some spaces there is a weird, not conditioning but there is a noticeable wave of people introducing and pushing the idea of OF and sex work to minors. I remember people both online and in my real life asking if I was gonna start an OF, because I will be “legal” and that I can make “good quick cash” by “taking advantage” of people’s carnal deaire. I think that mindset is dangerous to push onto youth. I was considering it for quite a while, honestly, and I really had to do some introspection into thinking, is this what I wanna do? Or is this what people around me are convincing me I should be doing? Would this be liberating to me because it is to others? Personally for me, it isn’t, but it’s strange that I had so many people telling me this is something that I need to do to be a “liberated woman” when I don’t even- identify as a woman. ***edit: I don’t believe that sw and having an of can’t be liberating, and I’m sorry if I came accross that way. My intention was just to share how the pressure to do such things was something very strange to me. I also come from the Tiktok+cosplay communities which influences my experiences with this issue greatly.

It's a little sus to me as well b/c OnlyFans operates in a pyramid scheme structure. Influencers have referral codes that allow them to profit off of those that they recruit underneath them. It feels like some of these OF influencers are targeting young people who are more likely to sign up without thinking of the long-term consequences (and thus profiting off of their naivete).

And not in the sense that I wasn't making money by doing it but I lost a deep part of myself during that time and mentally It wasn't something I could handle. There are people though who thrive in that environment and it makes them feel empowered and in control of themselves, but it certainly shouldn't be pushed out as a way to go for everyone. It may not seem like it, but it's a lot of work and it takes a lot of effort- it's not an easy out it's very emotionally and physically draining.

One thing that really stood out to me about your response to the vegan/vegetarian and fast fashion thing is that it feels like it challenged assumptions about fashion and veg-ism. 1) It can be hard to shop more ethically if you are a bigger size (and yes, there are vegans or vegetarians that are bigger!). 2) Someone could purchase fast fashion because it fits their financial needs and that same person can be vegan or vegetarian because having that ethical lifestyle where food is a big part of it isn't necessarily expensive. So it's not just thin, wealthy people who are vegan or vegetarian choosing to be unethical in other parts of their life. That probably exists and I don't know if the person who submitted assumed that was the kind of person but your response had a nice myth-busting feel to it!

As someone who just finished paying off student loans, I thought I’d bring up a few points that I haven’t heard many people discuss and I think we should take into consideration. A lot of people who are upset, are probably the same people who weren’t able to spend as much time concentrating on studying since they had to work multiple jobs just to be able to afford to go to college. No one wants other people to suffer, but at the same time, if you had to pay off your loans for YEARS and because of your loans, your grades suffered, and after you graduated you had a hard time finding a job (because of your grades) and then you had to continue living with your parents - it kind of feels like people just a few years younger than you are now going to be getting the jobs you couldn’t get because your grades suffered because you had to work multiple jobs. And they just get loan forgiveness. Also, something I’ve NEVER heard brought up. Why are we not going directly to the source of the problem? Does Harvard and all of these “elite” schools really need a bunch of rich kids there? The price of school should really be decreased, and the price of textbooks is waayyyyy too much considering you only use the book for a few months. It seems like if you’re smart enough to be accepted into a school like Harvard, then you should only have to pay the same amount as a public school. It all seems very classist. In addition, those who can’t make it into more elite schools usually aren’t able to do as well because their schools aren’t as well funded. Things I wish they would do prior to eliminating loans: 1) decrease college education and the price of textbooks. 2) fund high schools with better equipment and more up-to-date books 3) and then look into making the schools pay for the loans. Seems to me if you go to a school and spend thousands on an education your school should hold some of the responsibility if you can’t pay your loans off. Plus most of these elite schools could probably afford it rather than putting our whole country in an economic down-turn in the middle of a pandemic. Hopefully I made it clear that most people don’t want others to suffer. But what they do want is a plan to keep the economy from spiraling and for the education system to still be sustainable. And as someone who is privileged, I know my experience with my loans was probably better than others who are most likely suffering long-term consequences that I only touched on initially.

I’m so glad you talked about people going to see their friends and family. It’s so upsetting to me that I’ve been stuck in the house for nearly a year now, yet so many people I know are acting like nothing is wrong. My mental health is at an all time low, yet these people just *have to* get brunch on every day of the damn weekend. I feel like that sounds selfish on my end, but I’m just so tired of staying home to protect others, when it seems like no one else gives a shit. 🥲 Thank you for being a light in this darkness though, Hannah! Seeing you use your influence for good gives me hope 🙂

I absolutely hate the "I suffered, so you suffer," mantra associated with paying student loans. I was fortunate enough to pay back my student loans ahead of schedule, but to do that I worked full-time while attending school (so I couldn't give as much attention to school as I would have liked) and said no to so much stuff post school so I could make extra payments and worked soul crushing jobs... Why would I wish that on anyone? I would like to go back to school, but the idea of dealing with student loans again deters me so much.

in Brazil legal voting age starts at 16. when you're 16 you can register and vote but you're not obligated to do so until you turn 18. voting is mandatory, which i think is a good thing.

@@alyssabrown-carleton6173 I have thought a lot about this and i always come to the conclusion that i think it's our civil duty to vote so it should really be mandatory (especially in Brazil because we've had a few dictatorships and people were tortured and died for our right to vote). Also, yes, in Brazil all elections happen on a sunday when most people aren't working and people who are working get excused to go vote which is really quick, i've never taken more than 20 minutes to vote, and also get a little paper slip that proves you voted so you can give it to your employer. Voting in Brazil it's really the perfect democratic experience, our democracy and politics just really suck lmao

Commercial surrogacy is a clear problem, to me. Here in India, it's achingly obvious that it exploits low-income women who have no access to education or other resources. They have no alternative. It's simply commodification of women's bodies. Voluntary, or "altruistic" surrogacy is a whole other thing, if a family member or someone chooses to do it without coercion of any kind. .. Thank you for talking about topics like these, Hannah. Most people avoid the hell out of them, and I admire you so much for addressing things instead. I may not always agree with your opinions, but I'm always glad to hearthem, and grateful for the discussions that are started 😊❤

My country has strict regulations and the potential adoptive parents usually go through 10/15 years before they are allowed to have temporary custody and a couple more yeard until full custody. It is a mess, but we are talking about traumatized kids who need adults who will be able to properly take care of them (even worse: I know a couple of cases of kids that were "returned")

People really still think adopting children is like adopting a dog. "you just go to the orphange, pick one out, and go home that day right?" It can be an extremely long process, and very mentally taxing. A pregnant woman could have decided to adopt her child out to you since the beginning of the pregnancy. You prepare for the baby, you get excited, you pick out names, you go to every appointment. The birth mother has 72 hours to change her mind after birth. You could have been expecting a baby for 9 months and be in the final stretch and STILL not get that baby. I can't imagine the emotional toll that takes on adoptive parents
