So many things to consider when choosing names ...the name in full, abbreviated, as a nickname, etc. just to avoid giving a child/person a burden. I did like Josephine Loveless but no ...perhaps Lisa Michelle Loveless is more complete. I think, as with naming mine, it will just appear before you ...out of the blue. Good luck ☺

I agree about names, so much to think about especially going forward in life. Names that constantly need spelling out but also be aware of what a name will become as a nickname. It seems most names get shortened even if the parents don't want it. Turns out my 'David' is mostly 'Dave' and my daughter Joanna is now 'Jo' (but I'm happy about that because I like that).

My two sisters have names that constantly need spelling and they always get pronounced wrong, so I’ve heard enough of their complaining my whole life to know how important it is 😂 and I’m super aware of the nicknames! Having a William I always have to fight people off trying to call him Billy.

I was convinced when you were speaking of Molly that you were going to say Harry Potter, and then you said drugs. 🤣🤣 I was like, huh, that went in a different direction than I was expecting. Names are hard! When I was expecting my first son we really liked the name Toby. My grandmother phoned me to say I couldn’t name him after an ornament that is so ugly (google Toby Jug)! I said we could call him anything we liked and she said if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be here to name a child! Honestly I laughed so much - she wasn’t being that serious 😂 Anyways, we didn’t name him that because an ad came on TV and it featured a dog called Toby and it was a very popular ad!

That was very interesting. I've never actually liked my name, if it had of been Steve, that would have been better as that's usually what I get called. Which is exactly why I want to steer clear of any name with an ambiguous pronunciation/spelling! A life time of constant corrections. I think it’s because the American tendency is to never put the emphasis on the first syllable of anything. It’s usually on the second (but not always - English is confusing and dumb). When we first moved here it had to be explained that a lot of Maori words with three syllables or more (like Kumara) have the emphasis on the first. I was saying ku-MAR-a when it’s actually said KU-mar-a.

You just have to keep throwing the names around until one starts to stand out as the one you don't want to eliminate, and that'll be the one. "Kina" Is a sea urchin endemic to New Zealand, pronounced Kin-ah. So that's how Kiwi's would see her name. Loretta Loveless sounds like a movie star, could work.
