Fun fact, Einar Selvik used to go by the pseudonym Kvitrafn when he played in Gorgoroth, and some other black metal-projects.

Well, that is a fun fact, and Einar knew that people would come with this fact. And have comment on the album before it was released. And the new album is also called "Kvitravn". Einar Selvik comments the album: "To recite and copy the past is not very difficult, but to understand and integrate ancient thoughts, tools and methods with real purpose into a creation that is relevant to the modern era is truly challenging and remains our prime goal in our work. Although the album carries a variant of my own totemic artist name, it has, in this context, little to do with me but rather refers to the symbolism and legends of sacred white animals found in Nordic and other cultures all over the world. These highly regarded ghostly creatures, whether a raven, snake, bear, moose, reindeer, elephant or lion - are in animist traditions seen as prophetic, divine messengers, and guardians representing renewal, purity and a bridge between worlds."
It's weird how this happens. Apparently I've been living under a rock, but I now discovered both Heiling and Wardruna on the same day, and lost a whole night's sleep listening to them. It's hypnotic. It kind of takes me back five decades to when I discovered Wagner and listened to the whole Ring plus Tristan und Isolde in one go before collapsing in exhaustion.

Einar plays several instruments, but I believe the instruments he's known for in Wardruna are: kravik lyre, bukkehorn & talharpa. He's also known for being a drummer in the band Gorgoroth, so he's playing a lot of drums in this project as well I would imagine. A proud Scandinavian here! Always love when bands show off our culture!
Lindy-Fay Hella, according to herself, was a very shy child, hardly talking to anyone. But her older cousin forced her to sing. That gave her her freedom. Luckily for her and for us.
I’m looking forward to the 22nd of January 2021! The new album is coming out! 😊
whoa i got goosebumps from this track
Their music awakens my bones and dances with my soul. Can't wait to see them in concert this November ♥

I love this description!
I'm thankful I got to live in the same period of humanity wardruna existed.
Wow indeed! Listening to this from the States. One of the most beautiful videos I've ever watched and/or listened to in my 68 years on this earth! Powerful, beautiful, spiritual and????????????? I've simply run out of words!
At 1:55 I would guess it was filmed at Svartisen (the black ice). This is a side arm of the glacier. I was up there this summer. Reconmended visit.
subbed because you are a Wardruna promotor, awesome reaction mate
Fantastic song!!! Wardruna always deliver.
I just saw them in concert on the 5th. Kvitravn was the first song they played…and the chills in my bones and the connection I felt was just so pure. I may or may not have shed some tears.
2:28 The raven, a very important bird in Norse mythology.
Whoever thought up the idea of 2:10 being as it is needs a fucking raise! One of the most impactful moments in music in a long while.
I have just discovered Wardruna myself by complete accident and am thrilled. My reaction was exactly rhe same as yours... my skin almost fell off from getting chills. You should reacts to Faun - Odin feat. Einar (live) Epic
Yknow, until I discovered Wardruna a few months ago, I never even THOUGHT to look up native, ancient, cultural music of the Norwegian countries -- though I'm half Norwegian on my mother's side! It just had never appeared in my bubble of exposure before. It may sound silly, but primal ancient music like that tugs on something in my soul. Maybe it's the specific ancestry I have tied to THIS music, idk, but... it awakens something, man.
They sing in modern Norwegian, not Old Norse this time. The long wooden instrument is called a "lur" in Norwegian: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lur :)
Amazing song 🎶🎼🎤 Thanks 🌿
The bowed instrument Einar's playing is a Sotharpa (Soot-Harp), which is a variation of the Tagelharpa (Horsehair Harp). Easily my favourite instrument in all existence.
Okey so. We have the same reaction to this video. The chills, the head movements, the same feels. It’s so magic! You almost got the pronunciation right. Try google translate 😂 Wardruna is awesome, and it’s my go to Exam music! Just the “hang in there” song. Einar is a magician. A multitalented guy. As well as the woman’s voice. Ooooh the chills!

I like your reactions so much, I decided to view/hear this video for the first time along with you. I know you were going to watch it through, then comment. :) Yes, the cinematography - wah! I'm sure you could point a camera in any direction anywhere in Norway and get breathtaking natural beauty, but still - what masterful visuals.
Such a quick video reaction and I felt the same emotions when I listened to it
I cannot love wardruna more than I already do, they are just other worldly. Absolutely phenomenal! I was due to watch them again in concert this year but was postponed till next year, and I can't make the date. Hoping for another date change lol. They are just fantastic live, a must see Adam, if you ever get the chance. Just beautiful
I listen to them while slinging iron around the gym and I swear that my strength goes up.
Fantastic reaction Adam. When I got notified about this I just had to take 15 min off from work to watch it (also since I hadn't heard the song). Wardruna sticking to what makes listening to them magical, is just... Magical ❤️
Another cracking react mate! Skål from 🇦🇺
This and Lyfjaberg are two of their best songs, and they came out just this year. They keep getting better and better. It's amazing.

Good morning Adam, this is very interesting. At first wasn't sure. Then it draws you in, the surroundings in the video, then the music and vocals. Just like hands it reaches for you grabs you, and suddenly there is a calmness. Thank you Adam for sharing. 🎶🎶🎙🎙🌞💯🥰
It feels like something magical, isnt it? :") not much to say. Aurora, Wardruna, Heilung, Eivor, make me miss a home that wasn't even mine and never even been there. My heart is boiling of longing, need somewhere to go, and this music and the MV is just perfect.

You don't even need to know the lyrics. Just shut your eyes, open up all chanels and just let it flow through. You feel Wardruna. This song, when I first heard it and watched the video, it made me cry. There really is so much emotion! This song speaks to me. Your reaction was beautiful. I enjoyed this reaction video. ❤
It's a really good one, probably my favorite Wardruna song.
Seeing this video for the first time by/in your reaction ! Beautiful piece of art, so full of emotions, Wardruna at it's best. Very pleasant reaction and review, thank you for that. Edit: just jumped on the discords ... :)

Yeah the song is fantastic :-) Greetings from Södermanland.
I played this in honor of a close friend, nay... a brother who was killed in a car accident 2 yrs ago. He was just starting a new chapter in his life and in a instant his life was taken by a careless driver. Missing you Scotty. I hope the white raven lifted you to the hevens with grace and ease.

That string instrument is called a Kravik lyre.
I totally agree with you... have you also be reminded a bit of Qairan Elim of Dimash? The pictures are so epic as well. All this landscapes, the traditional instruments?
He used to be my neighbour for a short period. At the same time I discovered Wardruna. We had a few conversation, and I had to mention my adore to the band, and his reaction to my compliments, were so natural and humble, if I'm allowed to say that. A really good person, and amazing artist. Wardruna is perhaps the best band in their genre, without doubts.

I was planning to continue watching youtube videos for a while, but after that I feel like I need to just close down everything and lay on my bed and stare at the ceiling for a while. Then maybe run barefoot through the woods like a feral viking shield-maiden.

Female singer's name is Lindy Fay Hella. Everyone notice Einar at first, of course, but she is also beautiful woman with amazing strong and deep voice. Yes, I'd also notice classic old Wardruna style in this song, nice that am not alone with that. Beautiful song, beautiful music, views, scenario and all... So excited and happy to watch and listening to Kvitravn. Thank you for another great reaction! Like your reactions, you're so into it and have interesting thoughts. Stay cool.
Really good reaction, Adam. :) You asked for other new Wardruna songs, and you have probably not heard "Grá", or "grey" in English. We, Norwegians, use that for the Wolf sometimes still, like they did in old norse. Try this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nXqJmdCLlZqpYKQ.html
Would like to see your reaction to The Hu wolf totem
No, it's not pronounced the way you said it. In Norwegian we spell it "ravn" and pronounce the -v sound. It's not German :) "Kvitrafn" is an alternative way of spelling it, Einar's old artistic name, in which case you would pronounce the -f.
