Fun fact, Einar Selvik used to go by the pseudonym Kvitrafn when he played in Gorgoroth, and some other black metal-projects.

Well, that is a fun fact, and Einar knew that people would come with this fact. And have comment on the album before it was released. And the new album is also called "Kvitravn". Einar Selvik comments the album: "To recite and copy the past is not very difficult, but to understand and integrate ancient thoughts, tools and methods with real purpose into a creation that is relevant to the modern era is truly challenging and remains our prime goal in our work. Although the album carries a variant of my own totemic artist name, it has, in this context, little to do with me but rather refers to the symbolism and legends of sacred white animals found in Nordic and other cultures all over the world. These highly regarded ghostly creatures, whether a raven, snake, bear, moose, reindeer, elephant or lion - are in animist traditions seen as prophetic, divine messengers, and guardians representing renewal, purity and a bridge between worlds."

It's weird how this happens. Apparently I've been living under a rock, but I now discovered both Heiling and Wardruna on the same day, and lost a whole night's sleep listening to them. It's hypnotic. It kind of takes me back five decades to when I discovered Wagner and listened to the whole Ring plus Tristan und Isolde in one go before collapsing in exhaustion.

Einar plays several instruments, but I believe the instruments he's known for in Wardruna are: kravik lyre, bukkehorn & talharpa. He's also known for being a drummer in the band Gorgoroth, so he's playing a lot of drums in this project as well I would imagine. A proud Scandinavian here! Always love when bands show off our culture!

Yknow, until I discovered Wardruna a few months ago, I never even THOUGHT to look up native, ancient, cultural music of the Norwegian countries -- though I'm half Norwegian on my mother's side! It just had never appeared in my bubble of exposure before. It may sound silly, but primal ancient music like that tugs on something in my soul. Maybe it's the specific ancestry I have tied to THIS music, idk, but... it awakens something, man.

No, it's not pronounced the way you said it. In Norwegian we spell it "ravn" and pronounce the -v sound. It's not German :) "Kvitrafn" is an alternative way of spelling it, Einar's old artistic name, in which case you would pronounce the -f.
