Mephiles is actually trying to reunite with Iblis so they can become Solaris, Soleanna’s Sun God, again. The experiment the king was conducting had split Solaris into Iblis and Mephiles, and Mephiles has crazy OP time powers. He was always going to fuse with Iblis again, he was just trying to manipulate Silver into killing Sonic so that Elise would cry and free Iblis for the sake of having Silver end up dooming his own future, just because he wanted to. And when that sadistic plan failed due to Silver joining the heroes, Mephiles decides to stop playing around and straight up just kills Sonic himself. He could have done it at any time, he’s just that messed up in the head. And because they’re split from the same being, Iblis and Mephiles are technically one antagonist. Iblis is the mindless fire that wants to destroy everything indiscriminately, and Mephiles is the twisted, sadistic mind. The only reason Mephiles doesn’t just fuse with future Iblis is because he has to make sure Elise releases Iblis first. Similarly, the only reason Iblis isn’t immediately released when Eggman’s ship crashes is because Sonic goes back in time to save Elise from death. Even when Sonic saves her, the ship still crashes, which is what Sonic’s past self sees. Time travel is difficult to write, but if someone actually takes the time to go through the events of the game, apart from the point where they destroy Solaris, every other instance of time travel ends up causing itself in something known as a bootstrap paradox. In other words, the time travel causes itself. For example, someone traveling back in time to take a sandwich from their past self’s fridge because they were missing that sandwich for some unknown reason, only to realize that’s why their past self was missing the sandwich to begin with, is a bootstrap paradox. In the case of Sonic 06, it’s a more complex version of the same thing

I think the reason Mephiles didn't fuse with "Future Iblis" is because at that point, that version of Iblis has grown TOO powerful: he has to fuse with Iblis while it's still WEAK.

3:23:58 This is probably the weirdest part of this section of the game. Silver leaves the blue Chaos Emerald with Elise who is implied to have held onto it for her whole life after that point but it’s have been canonically used in several games before. Is there just a second blue Chaos Emerald floating around in the background the whole time?

well this game was meant to be a reboot, thats why its just called "Sonic the hedgehog", just like the first game.

​@@shadow98004except for some reason how time travel would work with a boot strap paradox. Sonic sees the egg carrier crash and Elise and egg man die so he goes back in time and saves them. But it still crashes so past sonic would have a reason to go back in time in the first place

While 06 story was dog water. They actually do explain why elises dad sealed it into her and not himself. Because it's shown when elise and eggman die iblis gets set free and we get silvers timeline. So if he sealed it into himself or someone who is about to die there would have been no point into sealing iblis anyway

Long story short, Mephiles hijacked Shadow's shadow after being removed from Solaris. And according to Ian Flynn he's the Time Eater after the reset

Mfs will just say anything and people will agree. Mephiles is like integral to the story, this whole thing just didn’t show it off because that wasn’t what they were going for, but saying he’s a pointless character who “shows up once, kills Sonic, and leaves” simply isn’t true. He’s literally the main villain of the game and is the cause for most of if not all of the events in the story

far as i could find, before this video happened Lythero played sonic and shadow campaign, but never got around to silver and it seems people were still asking fo rsilver. which is why the video is called the silver campaign. so that people know it happened. tho its doing all of it again cause twitch chat

Facts

38:05 sonic 06 was and still is god awful, but two things the game did unbelievably well were character writing, and mephiles, who is the only character from this game sonic fans are still begin to come back
