Love these, they're seriously really informative and I hope you keep doing them. Couple notes: The "bad" Micron B was because it's 32gb dimms, you just can't push the timings on most 2x32 setups very low. Same for the later weirdness with the 2x32 setup of what was *probably* 16bit Hynix (A/M)JR because that seems to be all you can get in 90% of 32gb dimms right now for DDR4. Mine's sitting at 3866 but the timings absolutely refused to go below 18/22/20/28/48 without dropping the clock to 3600 or below. It was nearly stable at 3933, but errored after a few hours of ycruncher, so I just dropped the speed a tick instead of fiddling. The "this happened during my struggle" screenshot seems to be Aida showing 67300MB/s for Read instead of 57000, but that might just be Aida being Aida since none of the other stats changed much.

37:08 - Intel 7400 must mean i5-7400, this matches the H110 platform which supports 6th and 7th gen. "H" means it's a "business" chipset and x10 means it's the cheapest one Intel offered... So, non-overclockable Kaby Lake, ultra locked-down chipset on a business oriented budget motherboard so I really doubt it offers BCLK overclocking. About the only saving grace is that it only has 2 memory slots, not that it matters much given all the other limitations.

As the previous commenters have said: I'm also really curious on your opinion of this weird TJ Max "normal" operation on the 7000 series... I mean.. Aren't they purposely making these chips last, like 5 years less, than their normal life expectancy? Isn't this obvious planned obsolescence? Why is only Gamers Nexus mentioning this as the real problem it is? And even they aren't sounding the alarm as much as I would like to see. A chip that, under normal use like going from gaming to browsing to maybe some editing, going to 95c and 30c on a daily basis... Won't it just wear out the internals on a much quicker pace, than a cpu that keeps going from 30c to 60 or 70 ocasionally? Won't they probably lose all that boost clock headroom in a couple of years... The way I see it, all this boosting to 5.7GHz, will probably dial down to 5.5 in 2024.. And by 2026 will probably only reach 5.0GHz by the time they are 5 years old. Constantly getting fed with high voltages and temperatures. Expanding and contracting for a decade will probably kill all these chips ^ just in time for that mandatory upgrade to Ryzen 10000... Jeez

I would actually be interested in the new GSkill Trident Z7 Neo timings. They offer three kits at 6000 MT/s. Timings are: CL 30-38-38-96 | CL 32-38-38-96 | CL 36-36-36-96 For me as a layman they seem pretty much even are they not?

Hi Zoid. VR sim guy here running a 4090 and 5800X3D on an Aorus X570S Pro AX I know nothing about memory except that the 64gb of Vengeance 3000mhz 16-20-20-38 sucked. A buddy convinced me to get some tighter G-skill stuff. Sanity prevailed (I think) and I spent £250 on a 32GB Trident Neo 3600Mhz 16-16-16-36 (b-die dual rank) kit. People were saying they were able to tighten this kit to 13-15-15-30 without too much trouble. My question for you is whether this trident kit is likely to improve my 1% lows in situations where a game overflows the L3 cache on the X3D and needs to dip into ram. To my limited understanding it makes sense that the new ram is now 1:1 and the timings are reasonable. Interested to hear your thoughts please. (New kit has not arrived yet)

20:35 I checked BIOS and it's on auto showing 10/5, updated BIOS and it's now actually 10/5, weird BIOS bug. edit: I have no idea what ASUS BIOS is doing, tRFC on auto reads 312 in BIOS and sets 653. RDWR/WRRD defaults to 11/1 on JEDEC and 18/7 on not JEDEC. Don't trust BIOS readout I guess.

Hey Buildzoid, what you think about the normalized 95 celcius degrees for CPU by AMD? For me running at that voltages at that temperatures only means degradation over years since the manufacturer is the same and the material is the same at higher density. What's your thoughts about it?

Hrmm… 6:37 VSOC is auto VDDP and the 2 VDDG’s autoed at 0.968v or something so i set them to 1001 which gives 1.0005v anything lower is 0.968v (looks better as 1.0005v) Would raising the VDDP or VDDG voltages help with primary’s, tWR or tRDWR? If not i will leave them as they are Best you can buy at that density and 4000MHz is 18,22,22,42,unknown so not too far off cus this density nukes your timings
