    Hey Chase, unpopular opinion but I'd love for you to listen to Satellites by them even if it wasn't for a reaction video I think you'll absolutely love it. It feels like a journey and I love the eery sound mixed with the extreme complexity. Keep on doing what you do, you're great at it ✌🏻

    One of the things I love about Periphery is that they always give the listener a lifeline. It might be a china keeping quarters over heavy syncopation, or a straight backbeat when guitar rhythm goes nuts. It makes the music digestible for everyone in a smart way while still being badass.

    Oh man. I have been waiting for more Periphery reactions from you ever since you did Make Total Destroy like 2 years ago or so. Love the way you break down their songs so well on a first listen. Amazing music always from these guys.

    Wow, you basically hit everything on the head with this. The drum patterns, your take on the name wildfire and you also seem to just get it with how the band doesn't take themselves seriously, but the music seriously....this is one of the hardest things for people to understand. Great reaction!

    Make Total Destroy and this really showcase Periphery's aggressive/technical chops, but I'm also a massive fan of their other side - tracks like Satellites, Lune, etc have a lot of soul and emotion. I think you'd really love 'em. Terrific reaction (as usual) by the way :)

    They definitely don't take themselves seriously: during their Furnace Fest set instead of having their logo behind them they had "the dinosaur man". They filmed a music video there so hopefully we'll see it soon but otherwise do some googling and hopefully you'll find it 😂😂😂

    Aw man, Chase, I'm working out of town and couldn't make the premier, but I'm finally here. I've been looking forward to this one for a while now. But I have a request; I was watching a Twitch reaction stream the other night, and someone requested a band called The Enigma Division. They're a brand new band from Ireland who've just released their first album. Check out the song "Echoes in the Deep." Best way I can describe it is a more metal Coheed and Cambria with less impressive vocals, but the composition is incredible.

    I love his drum kit too, but it’s funny you mentioned it sounding like a “real kit”. They sample/replace a lot their sounds with their own packs they’ve developed themselves. It’s him playing it 100%, but the sounds aren’t unedited or natural.

  • @loststatemusic

    @loststatemusic

    Жыл бұрын

    Not to start an argument, but that is straight up not true. They've gone for a natural drum sound for the past couple albums (besides a few songs here and there). On P3 there were pretty much no samples and Nolly himself has said that he does as much as possible with the actual sounds when working on Periphery records. Watch the docs if you haven't already ;)

    @@loststatemusic I've heard in some interviews Nolly's alluded to blending some samples in specific sections etc. just for effect/punch on previous albums but yeah, mostly he uses Periphery as his chance to go fully live because why wouldn't you! Which makes even more sense when we got a shiny new Halpern pack from GGD after PIII and PIV. I know I don't need another pack but I can already tell I'll buy the PV one when/if it drops 😆

    Jazz IS ALSO structure Chase. So many Jazz standards have the AABA structure in the theme, so there's the solos time, and then finally the AABA theme. Anyway, Wildfire is AWESOME. As Jazz music, in my opinion.
