Saying Bichette isn't a top 50 player is wild. If he didn't get hurt last year he would've led the AL in hits for the 3rd straight year. And he's not just a contact guy he has power and speed. His defense in the past was why u could make that case but he drastically improved their too. I think Bichette can finish in the top 20 this year if he take another step.

Well that makes perfect sense to do that. If 3 catchers have similar stats they will be closer in ranking than a pitcher and outfield. It's not that crazy of a concept lol. Also, some positions have more values than others so if a RF and SS have the same stats it's likely the SS is better and thus be more closely ranked with other SS. Simple.

I would agree with you on not ranking relievers highly. I'm a Brewer fan and feel like Hader was great, but also a one-trick pony with his fastball. He is just a reskinned Rob Dibble with a better attitude. However, Devin Williams is another thing entirely. He doesn't just overpower hitters, he makes them look foolish. On top of that, he is still finding his leadership legs after Hader left. Watch for him to break out as more than just a relief pitcher, but a clutch leader as well.

Wdym verlander was okay and didn’t look good, he had a 3.15 ERA with the Mets and a 3.31 ERA with the Astros that’s a 131 ERA+ and he had a 3.5 WAR he deserves to be in the top 70 also 3.85 FIP

I like the fact they ranked Luis Arraez at 43, because imo I value batting average a ton, if you’re one of the best player at getting on base wether it’s a single or walk 95% of the time you’re a top 50 player idc what anyone says! Not to mention Arraez RARELY Strikes out!

Biggest disagreement was the Bichette hate, but I didn’t like Cole in the top 10 (best pitcher in mlb rn yes but doesn’t feel like a top 10 player in baseball) didn’t like Ohtani at 4, he’s a dh this year drop him and Alvarez to around 8 and 9. Mike trout is still a top 10 player in baseball, Judge over Acuña, Betts still at #2 cuz of past consistency. Love freeman at 5 just has not had a bad season basically ever also missed like less than 20 games total over the past 6 years. Not a huge fan in the aggressive rankings of sophomore players like Carroll and Henderson love both players and been high on them the past few years but can’t really put them that high off one season

I think many of these lists focus too much on plate production. I know Billy Beane taught us that the only thing the matters is getting on base, but I'm old school, and like to see rounded, complete players, who can play defence. Too many Outfielders are given extra credit for hitting bombs, but their throwing errors, lack of range, or just plain mediocrity in the field are overlooked. Similarly, Infielders and their run saving ability is ignored, when assessing their play. For example, although both were excellent, so I'm not criticising either, I thought Henderson had a better rookie year than Carroll, and is more valuable to his team, yet both yourself and MLB rate Carroll about 10 places higher. Just to stress, I'm not saying Carroll can't field, just that a good SS saves many more runs than a RF, and this is never factored into their contribution or ability.

Fried might not be in my top 50 but imo ur reaction to it was too egregious. Also I’m sick and tired of the Luis arraez disrespect I am taking him over Bregman a million days a week over Bregman.

lol bregman provides similar hitting while playing very good defense at 3rd. Arraez is not even average at 2nd base. *take it how you want it but baseball savant graded bregman as a better hitter than arraez lol. Even if he was 10 percent worse he’s still on a completely different level than arraez

Dude Max Fried since 2020 has made 83 starts and is 43-15 with an ERA of 2.66 and a FIP of 3.02. He’s averaged about 4 WAR in that time span despite missing significant time and 2020 being a shortened season. I don’t understand your reaction to his top 50 status at all.

I know as a mets fan Max Fried must have hurt you in some painful way, but penalizing the dude for missing a little over half of the season last year is insane. Over the past 4 seasons, he's averaged a 2.66 ERA (164 ERA+) and 3.9 WAR (6.4 WAR/162 to account for last years injury). He's better and healthier over his career than Snell and is the closest we've seen on the left side to vintage Kershaw (still not fully at that level tho) in a long time.

  • @stevegehrke7781

You underestimate Max Fried. Dude has a career 3.03 ERA in over 120 starts (for comparison Garrit Cole's is 3.17). Fried has been one of the best pitches in the league since 2019 and still gets little respect.
