Have been right there when my wife got rushed in to theatre for an emergency cesarian. Walked down the corridor holding her hand only to get a hand firmly but gently in the chest from the nurse at the operating theatre door. Led to an empty room full of chairs to wait whilst it all went on out of sight. One of the most awful moments of my life followed a little while later by one of the best when I was called in and my son ( now 19) was placed In my arms.

Kate is an otherworldly being (elf, fairy, celestial being…it’s still being debated) and on a whole other plane of existence from we mortals. Not only does she sing, she writes, arranges, produces and plays many of the instruments. She’s a musical genius that has influenced thousands of artists. Neil Gaiman, the author, once said he’d never heard a book as music until he heard Kate.

Kate has been a major part of my life since 1978. She has brought me to tears many times too. I just didn't have to worry about makeup 😃 My favourite Kate song is Sat In Your Lap from The Dreaming album and probably at the height of her most experimental period. If you read the lyrics, it's message is still as important to young women now as it was then in 1982. And also the heartbreakingly beautiful, The Man With The Child In His Eyes which she wrote when she was 14 and recorded when she was just 18 and the video when she was 19. She is very special, very unique, very talented and almost ethereal.

Kate is a living legend. Her last live show (and she really only did two actual live concerts - the first setting the standard for most live performances to follow) had nearly every major artist buying up tickets. Private, mysterious, almost completely unaffected by current musical trends - a truly unique performer. I would compare her only to the likes of Bjork or Thom Yorke in that regard as genuine innovators.

This song , played at the end of She’s Having a Baby had me in tears. The only movie where I ever cried. I still get choked up when I hear this song on its own.If Elizabeth Montgomery’s character had died in that movie while this song was playing I would been a blubbering mess. Fortunately, John Hughes wasn’t cruel. His genius was to have you laughing at one moment , crying the next and then back to joy. Kate also shows her genius in this video taking us from sorrow to joy as the nurse smiles at the father at the end.

Kate is genius. And yes, at 71 and never having been a father, I am totally unashamed to say it makes me cry, every time. Though the nurse smiles at the end, I always feel the wife dies in childbirth with the closing of the piano case at the end of the video. The whole melancholy feel of the song and lyrics cries out 'make it go away' (the pain).

As to your comment on Kate's personality, you are right. I've read scores of interviews and reactions from fans, fellow musicians, music industry people and all kinds of people who have had interactions with her and it's a universal consensus that Kate is an incredibly sweet, humble, gracious, witty, laid-back, down to earth, kind, and caring person. It's pretty much without exception that everyone loves Kate. She is also very opinionated (and an absolute fearless performer), but is a very private person (and fiercely guards her privacy) and is generally shy in public. She shuns any kind of fame and "celebrity lifestyle" and has always just wanted a normal life - she loves gardening, doing the vacuuming and washing, being with her family, and raising her (now adult) son (she said she never employed a nanny, and was flabbergasted that some of her friends didn't know how to operate a washing machine!).

This song is amazing - this artist is amazing as well. She is more than just a singer - she interprets music though lyrics and movement like no other. I am not sure if you are aware the origins of this song, but it was used in the movie She's Having a Baby with Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern about a young couple trying to survive life. At one point, during the story Elizabeth McGovern's character who is with child goes into labor and there is something wrong... this song plays during Kevin Bacon's character remembering all the good and bad of their relationship while waiting to hear the news of his wife and child... it rips your heart out of your chest.

Cat, much like you, I wasn’t introduced to Kate Bush’s music until recent years. She is simply amazing and truly a trend setter. After discovering her I couldn’t help but think, “Tori Amos ripped her off!!”
Always get something in my eye when I listen to this song.
They use this song in an anti child abuse charity ad in the UK, real tear jerker

She can break anyone. And you do know her!
i’m gen z and absolutely adore her, she truly is one of the most talented artists of all time
You'd have to be void of emotion not to cry to this song and video. The exceptional Kate Bush.
I completely understand your reaction to this stunningly beautiful song. It gets me every time ❤
Have been right there when my wife got rushed in to theatre for an emergency cesarian.

Even I have had a crush on her and I was born way after she was young. It happened after I saw a black and white picture of her on Spotify in the late 2000's. My parents listened to Wuthering Heights when I was a kid but I discovered the rest of her work on my own.
Kate bush is magical and amazing🙏
She makes me sooooooooooo emotional! You said it best, her voice is angelic and bewitching!
Give Moments of Pleasure a listen. Always brings me to tears.
i think you and Kate would have got on really well as you seem like a really genuine caring loving person yourself! Kate should be a national treasure here in the UK
Our Kate national treasure ❤️🙏

It's very refreshing to see a genuine reaction to a genius.

Kate Bush is a genius.
For me one of the best English singers of all time! She tells a story in all her songs!
I think if I ever had the opportunity to sit and have tea with her to listen to her speak, my heart would pop. And you don't know how right you are when you said her voice is bewitching.😉🤗

Kate BUSH! One of my FAVORITE Artist of ALL TIME! This is one of her FINEST songs with SO MUCH meaning! The singer Maxwell re Recorded this song and did a FANTASTIC job as well. My Top 3 FAVORITE Kate Bush songs are : CLOUDBURSTING! Woman's Work and Running UP that Hill! 😀
What a lovely reaction to a perfect song ❤
Try a song of Kate's from the beginning - written when she was just 13 years old and one of more than 100 written by the time she was 16. ''The Man with the Child in his Eyes'' - amazing maturity for one so young
I don't know if I can listen to this right now. I'm crying already.

Kate Bush, une des plus belle voix
ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING
Moments of pleasure. Always breaks me up. This one does as well. Can’t hold it back on those two.
Kate is a true Artist and human. I listen to her from early eighties, and i Love everything she make. An angel and dream of a Woman.❤️👍
Literally that first note has me in tears
big Kate Bush fan here. This song always chokes me up. She has so much more great music. Like Rocket's Tail and Under the Ivy, just to name two gems.

perhaps we all need and deserve our own Kate.
Thank god for her
Feminity is the salve that heals the wounds men endure. The reason that Kates songs, this one and Don't Give Up with Peter Gabriel in particular, are so powerful is that she is addressing men's pain in a voice that is SO FEMININE.
She was the sound of the late 70’s and early 80’s growing up in the UK and constantly won best female solo artist
Best song ever...massive Kate Bush fan here.
Heard the song loads before, the first time I watched the video! Couldn’t stop weeping
it truly is the best piece of music that Kate Bush ever made, i love all her work from the weird to the sublime but this one just gets me every time
Enya's really the only other female artist that I think can come close to the genius of Kate, so beautiful.
This song is absolutely beautiful and I never understood the emotion that the husband was going through until my grandad died and the words "all the things I should have said but I never did, all the things we should have done but we never did" hits really hard like if I could get one more day with him to sit on the sofa and watch TV or even an extra ten minutes to give him a hug and tell him I love him I would sell my soul to the devil for that apportunity xxx
Lovely review. One of the most emotive songs ever. Kate always writes and songs from the heart. You can’t beat that.
That song makes me cry... every fricking time. That one part of the song that swells and she is singing two notes in the background of her singing the lyrics... That's where I breakdown. Opening of the flood gates. Kate Bush has always been my favorite vocalist/song writer. I also wish I could meet her.
Another very young talented artist that deserves a break: Shura!!
A man with a child in his eyes is another Kate Bush masterpiece
from Paris : thank you for you sensibility...i love this song. Very...
Just incredible. She's just uniquely brilliant 😎
Kate has always been on my radar. Since the 80's
That has got to be one of the most honest, moving reactions I have seen to this song.

Please keep reacting to Kate 🙏🏼❤️
This is one of at least two Kate Bush songs used in particularly long and strong sequences is the Handmaids Tale
Baby more of Kate's works that's pure gold
My Favourite artist ,I have followed her music since the 70s This song is one of my favourites
I am a guitarist/bassist/drummer. I grew up on 70's and 80's music for the most part (born in 66)...I love British 70's music, but I never was exposed to Kate Bush until the 90's, when I found the Sensual World in my 1st wife's CD collection. She completely blew me away when I threw it in the CD player. And like you I cry when I music moves me, a true sign of a music lover. It's amazing when an artist can do that to me...Kate Bush is so British. Intelligent, innovative....I'm so happy when I run into people that love her music.
the most special song ever written
this was in the charts when I first had my heartbroken. I used to breakdown at the line “Give me those moments back”. Soooo powerful.

Cat you are a beautifull and emotionel woman
