She said she likes playing around with numbers and giving all kinds of meanings to them which is why she chose to release the song on 5/6. Also, she confirmed that the machine thing is for downloading her past memories, and not uploading or erasing memories of any sort. Personally, I think DKDKTV is stretching every details as tragic as possible, but I agree on overall message and most of his interpretations of this song. One thing I disagree the most is his interpretations of IU's facial expressions and echoing lyrics. I don't think IU looking into the camera in the end, replaying "So are you happy now, finally happy now" is toward hate commenters, but possibly to herself to dramatically show how bittersweet and lethargic she is. Plus, the playback from the machine is actually longer in MV if you listen closely. It includes "Well, I'm just the same, I feel like I lost everything." I don't think that makes much sense if it's toward the hate commenters. Other than that, I think his interpretations are on point. One thing I hope to be true, is about the summer vibe melody and few hopeful lyrics she chose to write. I hope they were IU's attempt to overcome her sadness and to cherish her friends in happy memories rather than drowning herself in sadness. If she wanted to do that, she would've written a ballad with really sad emotions and lyrics that I know she's perfectly capable of doing. As much as I love all of her ballads, I am really glad she didn't do it with this song. So, I love "Eight," and I hope it was IU's personal therapy for herself. Great reaction, and I look forward to seeing the reaction to acoustic version!

Even when haters were constantly hating on Sulli, IU stood by her side despite her also receiving hate just by hanging out with her. Yes she release her song on May 6 2020 ( 05 06 2020 ). She said that age is just a number and that she like to play with numbers alot and another reason why it's release on 5/6 because she thinks that it would be fun to release this MV right after Children's Day in Korea
