The moonlord sprite is a character from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. Specifically the End of Evangelion movie. To put it simply, shes basically a hive mind of all human consciousness.

Chippy the re-sprited Moonlord you were asking "What is that sprite?" My best guess would be that giant Rei Ayanami clone thing, from the Neon Genesis Evangelion series... It's actually a pretty cool idea for a Moon Lord re-sprite. :D

The rockfish was very helpful for me in getting through my expert playthrough. Went from something with like 8 damage to 26 damage.

fishing is really really good if you have the patience for it, you can unlock pretty much all the best loot either from crates or directly fished up (Swordfish, etc.)

For the unused stuff, I recently did my first mage playthrough and the water scepter was my best weapon for quite a while. Very good with crowd control.

Fun fact about the lore: it says at the end you dont have to listen to it and you can make up your own stuff.

2:20 Honestly, I personally don't like when mods add too much to the game. Especially if what's added doesn't really mesh with existing mechanics or style. For example, I really find high-detailed bosses from the mods like Calamity off-putting, like something from a totally different game. The only big mod for Terraria I liked is Thorium. It adds plenty of things here and there, but nothing too big and the game still has the vanilla feeling to it.

Yeah I agree to an extent. Calamity has some cool stuff but a lot of it tries to be insane and over-the-top and ends up not really working imo. If others enjoy it that’s cool, just not my cup of tea. Also, I’m not a huge fan of Supreme Calamitas, it doesn’t feel like a final boss at all to me.

Im the opposite, after I've played calamity, I cant play normal terraria... it feels... So weird and so small... Thorium is also amazing mod, and I really enjoyed it, but... After calamity it feels like its not enough content(calamity was my first mod and I've beet it like 6 times)...

1:00 I use the ruler to craft "The Grand Design" because i like mechanical elements in video games like Minecraft's Redstone The only NPC i never used is the golfer cause i didn't play much of 1.4, I've been mostly spoiled while playing multiplayer Also, The mirror is used to craft Ankh shield which gives you immunity to most debuffs

Actually, the Mirror isn't used for the Ankh Shield. It's one of the only two debuff-negated items that aren't used for it, the second one being Hand Warmer.

@CellarDoor that's only if you ignore how common they are. A lot more things inflict poisoned than distorted for example. In fact about half of all the debuffs in the game are basically only given by one thing.

2:22 As someone who only started playing modded Terraria within the past month despite playing for years and years, it was partially due to feeling like I'd cheat myself out of the experience, or because the (lack of)polish of some mods hurt the immersion of playing the world for me, cheapening it, etc. Now with the ones I have I've definitely gone all in, enjoying the collection building parts of Fargo's Souls and a crapton of quality of life mods to shake up the usual tediousness of some things like making storage organized or grinding for resources for gear or building.

0:38 Idea if you feel like this, but you don't want to. My friend and I have a system where we just get ourselves to 200 health, and once at least one of us is there, we get equal health

I love the quick clips in between like the one where you slaughter bunnies!

"I never make any food" It's really easy to just buy food from the Traveling Merchant, it also doesn't take that long to fish for it but only if you want to already fish for something else (I have fished for potions before boss fights since usually potion fish aren't that rare, so that's an excuse to get some fish)

Not going to lie, I cried more than twice in Terraria Master Mode when it had just come out. Dying ridiculously often, It was not pretty cries. I think I know how much suffering I wish to endure. Built character, but it was painful. Props and Respect to those who do harder content in Mods.

Hi James! A step closer to 1mil, reason I've never touched mods is because most of the mods I've used prior in MC just didnt blend/fit in with the game. 2nd reason is because Vanilla in it self is so enjoyable and super replayable! Specially since I work w cusyom maps, its a new experience with friends every here and there. If you've got a mod recommendation/tierlist do let me know! Good video as well

0:52: I am so surprised that the snowball cannon is on the list. if you get your hands on one of those, it can solo most early game bosses, or at least until you get a minishark. i have beat all pre hard bosses with that weapon. its so powerful. its at the bottom right above the golfer.

4:13 Lmao I remember wanting the phone but getting bored while grinding. sometime later, I decide to join an online server for the first time and then after some exploring, finding a chest. Inside the chest was the phone and I was like "It's free real estate" and then I stole it so I can brag about it in front of my friends lol.

This made my week all right.

*Terraria items that I sometimes use:* Zombie arm, shuriken, throwing knife, flippers, bouncy grenades, gills potion, living wood related wands, holy/unholy/bloody water, step stool. First 3 items on my list are useful in early game when you only have copper stuff, flippers are good when your incomplete hellevator gets flooded, bouncy grenades do more damage than regular grenades and I like to use them against king slime and EoW, gills potion is useful if you're mining straight down and fall into a pool of water and just want to continue mining down and not deal with the water, I've used living wood (and related) on building houses and stuff a few times, holy/unholy/bloody water is useful for when you want to spread a biome instead of creating one by mining and placing blocks, step stool is nice early game when you have a free slot (I usually stop using the step stool when I get a slime mount). Also, sometimes when the party girl moves in, I'll buy some of her stuff and just place a few of the items around. And the painter is useful for when I feel like painting.

I'm a vanilla player who hasn't tried mods. I've played the game ever since you started this channel (10 years? I'm one of your OGs! :)), and Terraria has had such a special place in my heart. I can never get bored of it. When I hear my friends say "nodded has ruined vanilla Terraria for me", it makes me worry and because of that, I've never done it. I just love vanilla that much, so why bother? I had a similar experience happen with Minecraft when I got into mods, and it took me quite a few years to reignite my passion for vanilla.

In that meme with "Never used" it had the Snowball cannon... Do they even know how strong it is??

2:09 speaking of mods.... The Starlight River thing with Ceiros is something you should try out. Even if you'd be pretty late to the party.

That moonlord resprite got me checking out what kind of other resprites there are and currently in the workshop i think it's the best there can be... So i downloaded a few more other resprites for a future start of a first "retextured" rune ever (apart from calamity mod retexture i used in the past).

I made it into another chippy video XD these 3D things are really fun to make and people from the reddit now alert me i made it in before I even get to realise you've release a new video :D thanks james and you terraria craft devs hmu XD (also the auto hammer had sound! aha no worries :) )

Lol I have a story about the rod of discord. I was playing on journey mode and tried to get it so I could research it, and it took hours of my life away to get. I played a summoner playthrough, wasn't worried about getting it, and the game just gives it to me for no reason.

0:58 i used almost all those besides the angel statue and 2 items from the bottom....the flower looking one bottom left 2nd one over and the ball shaped thing that looks like a christmas ornament. 2:25 I haven't but plan to try a mod or 2 with a friend hoping soon but work got me behind and so has bills so gotta focus on that till I have time too.

The reason I haven't started mods is simple. To quote a comment from an upload of the Moon Lord's theme, "Defeating the Moon Lord unlocks your willingness to play mods. God help you if you reach this point." If you couldn't tell, I haven't beaten Moon Lord.

For some reason I always get the teraspark boots and the moblie phone before hardmode. I remember one time I spent more than 50 hours trying to find the lava charm, as you can not fish in lava pre-hardmode - it drove me insane.

I myself have only recently picked up mods. I've had a capable pc for two years now but it always seemed too confusing to me but i decided to give it a go regardless and I'm happy I did.

4:20 I seem to always get slime staff really easily for no reason, just randomly playing kill a slime and I get it, I think last time I killed near 30 slimes and got it, same with the rod of discord in my last playthrought, I was making the farm as soon as I finished the farm I got the rod, I was mad and happy, built all that just to get it instantly after finishing it, didn't even get to use the farm properly.

As a vanilla player I can honestly say, the reason I haven't checked out mods is because frankly, that meme couldn't have described it better. Every single bit of modded Terraria footage I've seen looks immensely too difficult for me, but that's most likely because I'm more of a builder than a fighter. I do use third-party software occasionally, like Tedit...

I split my heart crystals evenly with my players in the early game to dodge health related spawns, and then once we're ready for the WOF fight we prioritize the melee. I don't do this with everyone, but the people I play with frequently are efficient like that

my cousin has like 500 hours in the game and everytime i invite him to play with mods hes like "LET ME FINISH PLAYING THE GAME FIRST" which i think means that he didnt do everything possible in terraria. idk why he thinks doing everything in terraria is possible, but he did all the classes and also we are doing master mode rn, so idk what else is left in the game that he needs to do that playing modded 1.3 would spoil something for hiim or idk Edit: i finally convinced him :)

Terrarian not playing modded here! The reason is actually simple! I’m waiting for the 1.4 version of mods, but the other reason is i want to finish all Terraria achievements/researchs in journey, before! Maybe I’ll do it with a friend before that but I’ll see! ^^
