@@joshuacampbell7493 Probably, yes. Although it felt a little bit forced, I like the fact that they didn´t make Egon speak. Overall this movie was fine, I still prefer Ghostbusters 2. The actress who played Phoebe was very good. And after the 2016 atrosity, it didn´t need to be great. No unbearable Chris Hemsworth character in this, no force fed plot, characters or jokes. I do however still think, this franchise should probably be buried. I don´t believe there can be another really great one, like BANGER film in this franchise, I see much more potential even still in the Jurassic franchise....

I cried at the ending, not so much because of Egon’s return, but because my own grandfather died in 2018, and of all the Ghostbusters, he was most like Egon. He was a math teacher (and mathematician), he taught GED classes in jail to reduce recidivism, and he was a home bound teacher. He was much beloved by the community, and Egon and he felt like a good match, as they were both difficult to know. I miss him, and I cried because I hoped in some way, he could be proud of me, wherever he is.

Can I just say that this is the first movie, where I didn´t instantly wanna bang Olivia Wilde? 😅🤭 It´s also so lame that they had Gozer AGAIN as the main villain. It´s like they so desperately wanna RE-capture the magic of those old films, but they don´t realize that those old movies just had the right amount of talent, good writing and creativity in them. There´s no science behind that and you can´t COPY it! So don´t try! Make something new! Something risky, exciting and creative!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Spider-Man: No Way Home & Top Gun: Maverick = 3 examples of great respect for franchises in about 9 months. I cried in every one of these movies in theatres.

RIP, Harold Ramis, Egon Spengler. He would have been proud For what they had accomplished for making this movie happen.

Mckenna Grace was the perfect choice for Phoebe, she really resembled Harold Ramos in the original movies, and got his mannerisms down flawlessly!

@@Elemental_Entity No, she's probably on the autism spectrum, the same as her grandfather was. Egon wasn't aware of it because we didn't diagnose it that well in the early 80s; he was just "weird." Phoebe's 100% aware of it, and mentions it when she mentions to Podcast that she doesn't express emotion the same way as ordinary people: "inside, I'm vomiting," she says. They don't go around making a big show of it in this movie-but to anyone with a family member on the autism spectrum, it's obvious and true to life.

​@@LukeMaynard Egon is not autistic. Dan Aykroyd is. There is talk that their characters may be an extension of Dan's autistic traits but that's just speculation. That does it excuse the cardboard performance by the actress as a result from the bad directing. She has zero personality. Egon had personality. She is an emotionless drone. So are most of the other kids, they have no fear. Do you remember ghostbusters, every one of them were scared shtless. These kids aren't fazed. It's not a good film if you take of your nostalgia glasses.

This movie is how you do fan service correctly. Yes, there are plot holes, yes some things don't quite add up, but it's done so well you can suspend and just take in. The movie really got me on the feels, especially the ending.

@@ChrissaTodd Uhh, that is NOT what a plot hole is. Not even a little bit. There's a million little factors that influence how a story turns out, and none of those factors are plot holes. A plot hole is an internal contradiction, such as Ray saying the old firehouse is a Starbucks, only for it to just be abandoned but otherwise unchanged.

I still don’t understand why they didn’t believe Egon when he warned of the end of the world. Isn’t that what they were ALL worried about in the first film? Also, Gozer apparently suddenly lost the ability to jump and move around during the final battle. It’s like the movie expects you to forget what happened before, and yet it simultaneously relies so heavily on what came before for the nostalgia factor. The tribute to Harold/Egon was pretty well done though.

I was sitting in the theater for this movie and when it came to the last bit, where Egon shows up to help Phoebe, I was repeating over and over in my head "Please don't talk. Please don't talk". And I was so relieved they kept things classy enough to not have Egon say some final words or whatever. Just a silent, respectful appearance and once his business has been concluded, he leaves. The Neutron wand has been passed on.

Ghostbusters:Afterlife is one giant love letter to the franchise and basically an apology for the disaster that was 2016's "reboot" And the fact that they brought in the original actors one last time mainly to pay tribute to Harold Ramis (the actor of Egon Spengler who passed away in 2014) is genuenly beautiful.

A big important thing to understand about this movie, is that it's the first and only time that Jason Reitman worked with his father Ivan Reitman. And while this movie was filmed a few years ago and finished, because of the pandemic it got it's released delayed. But shortly after it DID finally get released, Ivan Reitman died. And in this movie, Egon Spengler is actually played by Ivan Reitman himself. So in the realest way possible, this was Ivan Reitman's swan song, as much as it was in honor of Harold Ramis. Ivan, Harold, and Dan Aykroyd were the ones who created the original movie. Ivan was the director, and Harold and Dan were the writers. So this movie really ended up being Jason Reitman's....monument to both Harold Ramis and his father, even though he obviously didn't know at the time that his father was going to die shortly after this was released. It's honestly crazy how meaningful this movie is. And it's crazy that they even attempted to bring in Egon. And it's insane that they actually pulled it off. That could have gone so catastrophically wrong, and insulting, and embarrassing. But they nailed it. They nailed it so hard that I basically cry every time I've seen this movie. And I think I've seen it now six times? They say Jason Reitman was the original Ghostbusters fan. Not only was he the little annoying kid at the birthday party in Ghostbusters 2, but he also grew up on the set of the original movie. He watched these movies get made. All three of them. But I can say that I was a Ghostbusters fan before I was a fan of anything else. I don't think there's anything in my life that I was a fan of before Ghostbusters, aside from maybe Ninja Turtles, basically simultaneously. These movies are so much in my DNA. I'm a fan of a lot of things, but Ghostbusters hits on a weirdly deep level. And what super weird is that for a long time I kind of forgot how big a fan I was of both Ghostbusters and Ninja turtles. I hadn't seen the movie in like 25 years. And then I rewatched it. And I was like what the fuck have I been doing with my life? And since then I don't even know how many times I've watched these movies. Just in the last decade or so, probably 30 times? I think there are very very very few truly perfect movies, but I think the original Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park, and Groundhog Day are three of the few that I can name. And I think Ghostbusters:Afterlife does a shockingly phenomenal job of living up to a standard set by a truly perfect movie. It obviously doesn't quite reach that level, because almost nothing does. But it's so insanely good that it easily usurps Ghostbusters 2 as the second best Ghostbusters movie, dewpite that Ghostbusters 2 is great. I was so terrified that this movie wasn't going to be good after the mess that was Ghostbusters:Answer The Call (the 2016 movie). It's such an overwhelming relief that afterlife is THIS good. And Ghostbusters 4 is on the way. And as you see at the end of this movie, they're returning to New York City. Once again, I'm nervous about the quality of Ghostbusters 4, but Jason Reitman seems to still be on board to direct and co-write it, so I have a lot of hope too. And there's an animated Ghostbusters movie on the way too. Honestly, the world needs Ghostbusters so badly, in a way that I can't even really put into words. It doesn't make sense to call it wholesome, but it's something adjacent to that. Some sort of deeply intense warmth of adventure and comfort. It's something that transcends nostalgia, because people who didn't experience Ghostbusters as kids still get the same feeling. It's something that's just meant to be. Something that's supposed to exist and needs to exist. Not something that's a given. It requires careful and talented and clever people to make it, but when it's done correctly it just clicks into the universe in a way that's hard to explain. It's like certain food combinations, there isn't anything inherently connected about their existences, but when you combine them magic happens. Like hot sauce or salsa and sour cream. They're all great individually, but when you combine them they become more than the sum of their parts. Like chocolate and peanut butter. Cheese, flower, salt, yeast, water, tomatoes, salt, sugar, oregano, rosemary, basil, olives, pepper, pork, beef, paprika... This wild list of unrelated things that somehow come together and create pizza. Pizza doesn't have to exist, but can you imagine a world without it? Some bunch of geniuses figured out this exact right combination of stuff, and now it's impossible to imagine the world without it. It's something that's just supposed to exist. It needs to.

I'm a grown woman and I legit cried like a baby during the ending scenes. This movie and the Ghost Busters were a huge part of my childhood, it was weird like it was our turn to mourn Harold, plus who wouldn't love a few moments with their grandparents again?

You guys are one of the few younger "reactors" that are really mature for being so young. And as someone who grew up in the 80s, I absolutely love the love you give to older films!

I personally love that, despite being full of ghosts and such, the film is very pro-science. When Phoebe first encounters Egon's ghost, she's not scared; she's very much like, "This is interesting...I should investigate this." I personally get tired of films being paranoid about science as if it's going to kill us all. We could use more films like this.

I'm going to say the ending. Made this 55 year old cry every time I've watched it. Watch ALL of the credits. You can also watch scenes that were cut on KZread. One of the scenes cut had the toaster from part 2 in it.

I'm so happy to see that you guys still got the impact out of this and recognized and appreciated its relationship to the original. I was 5 when Ghostbusters came out and it was a HUGE part of my childhood. I wanted a part 3 every since 2 came out and over the past 30 years met constant heartbreak as each Ghostbusters 3 project got canceled. Seeing this in the theater last year....made me feel like 10 again and I'm not too proud to admit I completely lost it while watching it. 3 decades of anticipation hit me like a cinder block. Thank you guys for doing this, I just signed up for your Patreon and love your reactions. Thank you for being so open-minded and appreciating the older films and recognizing the magic they still carry.

Oh such a fantastic successor to Ghostbusters 1 & 2! This was the first movie in a long while that checked all the nostalgia boxes for me and also made me cry.

I was 13 when the original Ghostbusters came out. This movie definitely did it justice. I love how excited you guys got watching this. RIP Harold Ramis & Ivan Reitman

This is how you do a late sequel that honours the franchise. I love the bit where Gozer asks Ray if he's a god. The ending always gets me teary.

It’s already been confirmed that a sequel to afterlife will release late next year Also this movie is technically the 4th. The video game is the 3 and has the OG voice actors playing their respective roles. I love Ghostbusters because of how interesting the world is and it’s lore.

When I first heard about this movie I was very skeptical. Mostly because of the 2016 reboot which was a total flop but this movie is a really great film that reintroduced the franchise to a new audience. It also keeps the same tone as the ones before it which I love.

When this first came out, I was very sceptical because of the disaster of the 2016 movie. I loved this movie and I cried in theaters for the ending with egon's ghost supporting his granddaughter and all the Ghostbusters together. I enjoyed Phoebe's jokes and Podcast was an adorable weirdo. Those stay puffed marshmallows was so cute, I am so glad they included it. 80s movie recommendation: The Abyss

I was at the L.A. premiere with Jason and Ivan Reitman in 2022. The theater was packed with fans from various tribute teams, and when Egon showed up, you couldn't hear much other than grown men crying. It was such an emotional, cathartic moment for those of us who have invested so much of ourselves into keeping the spirit of Ghostbusters alive through our teams and the work we do in our communities. It was impossible not to cry.

RIP Egon Spengler/Harold Ramis. You were a True Ghostbuster.

As a fan who grew up watching the original movies and cartoons this film was SUPER Emotional and a dream come true. We never thought we would ever get the chance to see the guys together again, but they made it work!!!

They made a Ghostbusters video game in 2009 with same cast Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis & Ernie Hudson.

I'm genuinely interested to see where these new characters will go in the next film. I absolutely loved Phoebe. Egon was always my favorite Ghostbuster, I could really relate to the awkwardness and whatnot. Saw a lot of myself in Phoebe as well. I'm not a science nerd but her personality. The film itself did have a slow start but it did give us an opportunity to get to know the new characters. Was the fan service shameless? Yes. But I loved it. We even had some bits from the Real Ghostbusters cartoon (the extendable seat in the Ecto 1). And that ending... Tears like a bitch in the theatre. 😭😭

The ghost the comes out of the shop eyeball first then connects to the body was an action figure from the 80s toyline. I had it when I was a kid.

Paul Rudd is always amazing, he owns a chocolate shop near me. My wife used to work at Sam's Club and has encountered him multiple times, she says he's down to earth and just a great guy....I think she might leave me for him haha

The end of this movie brought me to tears in the theater, and every time since. Even just watching this reaction. Thanks for watching these films. It was fun. Keep up the great work.

The after-credit scene with Jennine and Winston indicates there will be a sequel. Jason Reitman, the director, was also in Ghostbusters 2. He was the kid who speaks at the party.

That ghost that caught it's own eyeball was actually part of the Real Ghostbusters toy line. The CGI Egon was so well done it kinda causes you to get chills.

I love that in both this movie and the remaster for Ghostbusters the Video Game they have the "For Harold Ramis" message

I actually did not expect to enjoy this movie as much as I did. They really did a good job of keeping the nostalgia without making it feel cheap or cheesy. And I really love how they paid homage to the original cast

I remember the first time I watched ghostbusters, I wasn't around when it came out, I was born about 18 years after it came out, but I grew up on that movie. So even I can't imagine watching this if you saw it back when it came out. This made me more happy than most legacy sequels I've seen.

I was skeptical when I first heard about this movie. The trailer hyped me up, but I wasn't keeping my hopes too high. And then when I saw the movie in cinemas I was blown away and in tears by the time I left the cinema. It was a perfect love letter to the originals, and a perfect goodbye to Harold. I've seen the first two since I was really young and loved the heck out of them. I so glad this movie was everything it needed to be. For the fans and for the movies themselves.

To finally get this movie after so many years waiting for it..Bill and Harold had a falling out a few years ago, Thankfully Bill actually got to see Him before he passed away and they made up.. I think Harold or his family, actually his daughter gave them her Blessing to go ahead and finally make the movie, and obviously to have "Egon" back and to see him one last time was so emotional 😢 👻

A beatiful send off from Ivan Reitman to his fans... he sadly passed away this february.. this was his laft movie he worked on with his son.

👏 Ok, new number one favorite. This was everything and then some. I loved it. The kindness shown to the originals, the adding to rather than rebooting, reimagining, or the likes was the best idea. Not saying anything negative about women, but that Ghostbusters was just... The only way I can explain it is barftastic. I didn't make it past the first 15 minutes. But this, this is how it's done. Because yeah they could have took jabs at the original but they didn't. And they made the characters really likeable and realistic. Those are my kind of jokes, the ones that give you that delayed laugh like a Zootopia sloth 😂. And I like that they acknowledged enough to talk about it that the ghost busting really went on. Pretty much all of New York saw it, or read about it in the papers. I wish Rick Moraines had come back for it, but maybe next time. I could have missed him from an edit though 🙂

Having grown up with the Ghostbusters, I can say I was in tears by the end of the movie. This was not only a love letter to everything you listed, but it is also a love letter to us fans.

Fun fact: there’s a ghostbusters game and apparently it’s supposed to be canon to the actual story

I loved Afterlife...so glad they green-lit another film. Even though you are both new to the 'Bustin' lore, I love that you both have embraced and respect it so much!!

I sat through the 2016 reboot of the Ghostbusters, and you do not know how refreshing this film was to make me forget how disappointed I was from that film. This is definitely how you do fan service right, the heart and soul of the previous two Ghostbusters movie is here, the feeling is there, even some of the look and feel and even the music is there. It's modern but not too modern, this is fan service done right. And God damn that ending made me tear up. It was so beautiful and so.. so right. I walked out of the movie theater feeling just good. And that's a feeling that I never often feel after leaving a movie. I either feel hyped, disappointed, or just meh. Never just in bliss. And to the folks who feel that they just want a Ghostbusters 3 with the original cast, there is always the video game. Because that had all of the original cast, including Harold Ramis.

I took my 11 yr old daughter to see this last year in theaters. Loved it. I got teary eyed at the end

Ghostbusters: The Video Game's story was great and is basically the third film we didn't get.

first time seeing the movie after actually watching it and i am still crying over egon... this was so, so, SO beautifully made. it was the perfect mixture of everything and a great ending to the originals with the possibility to have a future (which i would be very happy about)! phoebe is a fantastic character, the true heir to egon and this little actress did an amazing job. i loved watching how you guys really enjoyed yourselves with GB 1 and 2 and dare i say even fell in love with it and it's great to see that this movie moved you youngins, although you didn't grew up with the fandom. i will forever be a true ghostbuster at heart!!!

If you guys are gamers, I highly recommend playing Ghostbusters: The Videogame, if not for the experience of being a Ghostbuster, but at least to enjoy the last time the four main cast members performed together. I strongly advise avoiding the 2016 reboot

Yeah the game is incredible. It immediately sucks you right in. I highly recommend the game.

As a lifelong Ghostbusters fan, I loved this reaction. You guys got the desired effect from the film despite not having that deep attachment to it. Loved seeing you enjoy it. It was an awesome film and like you guys said, absolute love letter to the original. If you ever watch the 2016 version you will see why it was so hated. (I'd advise against it though) Straight disrespect. Awesome reaction dudes. Much love.

My brother introduced me to Ghostbusters. The movies and the cartoons. I have loved them for most of my life. He passed away unexpected three years ago. I love this movie. I cried so much at the ending. It made me remember all the good things the Ghostbusters gave me. The laughs, my love for sci-fi, and those times with my brother.

I honestly never watched Ghostbusters until recently but somehow I still got hit with that feeling of nostalgia 😭 this movie was really well-done. I hope there's more where that came from but if there isn't then this would be a beautiful way to close out the Ghostbusters franchise

When I saw Egon’s ghost, I lost it. I cried during the ending. Seeing the guys together one last time. Awesome!!!

That's pretty cool seeing you tear up a bit at the end of this film even when you are a newbie GB fan. I'm one of the 80s kids who grew up with the original two films and the cartoon show and the toys and old computer games and such. And yeah, some may complain this film takes a lil too much from the original but for me it felt a great blend of old and new and passing the torch to a new generation with all the love and respect and yeah, the Harold Ramis tribute. Looking forward to what happens in the next film now that this one has really helped revive the franchise. :)

For those of us alive when the first movie came out the last scene hit hard. As a 53yr old man, not ashamed to say I shed some tears

When I saw this in theaters last year, I cried at the ending. I cried like I've never cried before when watching a movie or show. This movie hit my emotions just as much as Top Gun: Maverik did this year. Great movies with great story, very emotionaly appealing, and respectful. This is how you bring back a franchise in a simple way.

When I first learned of this movie I had been worried it would be bad… but it wasn’t. That you had such a reaction for having only just seen the Ghostbusters movie gives even more credibility to how good this movie was not only to older fans who watched them in theaters and grew up on it but to new fans just starting the series. Its just such a love letter, not cheesy, not smacking you over the head with poorly copied bits, not a super mega sfx movie (its true they modernized the fx were upgraded but they still felt old school), and the new characters were likable and not bad stereotypes! A sequel is being filmed I’ve read also written and produced by Reitman with Paul Rudds character and Egons daughter and grandchildren actors reprising their roles. So looking forward to that!

Ghostbusters was so huge back in the day, there were Sunday morning cartoons, toys, etc. It was one of the first big sci-fi movie for a lot of kids, me included. It is funny how sentimental it can be even though I was never a huge fan.

We saw you tearing up. You guys are correct. It hit us hard. We grew up with the Ghostbusters and watching them at the end brought all those feelings and memories back. I teared up the fist time i watched it and every time after. This is one of those moments that can't be explain only felt. Thanks for sharing your reaction and tears (wink).

When I tell you me and my husband were sobbing babies at the end-RIP Harold. And no, that’s wasn’t Harold Ramis at the end, but what an EXCELLENT job they did representing him, it was overwhelming. Such a long time coming.

Having grown up watching Harold Ramis in things even more than Ghostbusters (Stripes, Groundhog Day....) it was nice for him to get a proper farewell

Ghostbusters 3 movie is very amazing and very cool characters.

The movie was an absolute love letter to the originals and I really enjoy it a bit more every time I watch it.

This movie is littered with easter eggs and practical effects! It's pretty much a template for what a sequel/reboot should look like Also Jason Reitman and his team worked with Harold Ramis' family to ensure the digital overlay on the actor was both respectful and still making sense in the story.

I was beside myself when I saw Egon's ghost there, then I teared up when Peter, Winston and Ray show up to help the 2.0 Ghostbusters defeat Gozer.

45:30 very happy to see the original cast again from ghostbusters afterlife.

finally, iwanted you guys could watch this movie in particular cuz is special for everything you saw,the tribute to the originals was the best,to me, as someone who watched ghostbusters when i was a child, this movie was simply perfect,i cant even tell you how much i cried when Egon's ghost apairs to join to his partners one last time

The bit at the end of the final battle where they perfectly recreated Harold Ramis brought a tear to my eyes. This movie is what happens when you get the right people, who have an emotional investment from the original films, to create something respectful and amazing. This movie more than makes up for the disastrous reboot and should go down in history as the best sequel of all time. You guys may not have been around to enjoy the original films when they were first released, but you watched them and became fans because of how good they were, and you can take pride in that. You can actually buy a Nutrona wand replica that has all the sounds and is activated just like you see in the movie, have a look online. It's a blast to use... :)

Fun fact: They had Bob Gunton stand in for Harold Ramis as the human template to drape the Egon-CGI over. Now every time I see the final scene, I imagine the ghost of Warden Norton from Shawkshank showing up, wondering what the heck he was doing there....

I love the bad jokes in this movie. I hope they make a sequel to this, maybe a darker one. This one is always going to make me cry at the end. I remember watching the 2nd as a little kid and loving the movie.

I'm 40 years old now. But I remember how big the original movie was 38 years ago. Despite being a little kid, every kid my age in the 1980's wanted to be a Ghostbuster. This movie brings back all the nostalgia as well as the 2nd movie. If given the chance, you guys should watch the cartoon series that ran from 1986-1991. The movie series was so popular that even the cartoon series called The Real Ghostbusters, eventually renamed Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters became huge with children. The merchandise was awesome, and back then also Hi-C came out with a drink called Hi-C Ecto Cooler which was a green colored drink but in the same color as Slimer the green ghost. Ecto Cooler was named after the Ghostbusters vehicle, Ecto-1. Definitely watch the old cartoon series on KZread.

I gotta say, Ghostbusters 2 is still my favorite.....

Love this movie! It would be so cool if Gozer and Vigo teamed up in the future. I noticed Gozer now has the same yellow lightning Vigo shot from his eyes in the second movie.

There were a lot of people who wanted to hate on this but I totally loved it. I loved seeing the old cast come back along with an introduction to a new generation of Ghostbusters. I was so emotional when Egon's spirit returned to help in the final scene. It was so respectful, dignified and a great show of homage. The fourth film is slated to come to theaters Dec. 20, 2023. I can't wait to see it.

The director of this movie was the kid in Ghostbusters 2 who said to Ray and Winston his dad said they were full of crap.

19:57 - I broke into an ear-to-ear grin when I saw this in theaters: a collection of spores, molds, and fungus! 21:38 - ...and the tingle that ran down my spine when I heard that sound.... 25:38 - Although it wasn't in the original movies, the Ecto 1 gunner's seat WAS in the cartoon and on the Ecto 1 toy. You keep talking about how this movie 'respects' the original. Remember that this movie was written by Dan Ackroyd, who, along with the dearly departed Harold Ramis, wrote the original. I still recommend you guys watch a few episodes of the cartoon. Remember, that's The Real Ghostbusters, not Filmation's Ghost Busters.

Paul Rudd was in FRIENDS and in FRIENDS Rachael and Joey watched Cujo, I only just noticed he put it on for the class to watch

Shandor mining facility.... as in the same Evo Shandor the t was listed on the blueprints for the apartment building in the first movie. They said in that that movie that the designer was either a complete nut or a certified genius as the building as a temple for spiritual energy......😉

Glad you guys saw this one. Hit me super hard watching this the first time. They made this FOR the fans for sure. And in the process created a great movie. Holding our breath to see where they go from here.

this movie is fantastic! legitimately cried while watching. the diner was a cool thing to see, especially since i was actually a roller skater at a sonic ! haha

Fun fact, this was filmed in and around my home Calgary Alberta. The country side is good 'ol Alberta Prairie Land.

The ghostbuster that dies in the opening scene is Egon, played by Harold Ramis, and much of this film is a tribute to him. Not sure why you would be wondering which ghostbuster died in the opening scene when it has to be the actor that died...which was Ramis who played Egon...so. This movie was so so good for fans of Ghostbusters. There is seldom a movie that does justice to the original the way this one did. This was a real tribute to what came first.

After the 2015 remake, I will honestly say I was terrified to watch this movie. I loved every bit of it. For someone, who grew up with the originals, the nostalgia was there. I cried when Egon showed up again. I hope they continue with this cast. I think they were perfect for the story
