That last note was chest. It was just breathy and more “Hobbit” like I should say.

@@alexanderwoodland4631 Actually, Geoff has done this type of note before. It was chest. He confirmed it with Sixteen Tons. It might sound like there’s a little growl with it, but it’s all chest. Just breathy.

It sounds more like a mixed growl chest note... it's definitely different for Geoff. F1 is my lowest chest note and I have been trying to recreate the sound and cannot.

@@johndeeregreen4592 from my understanding that was subharmonic. If you actually have a low F1 that's like off the charts for chest. Regular basses end at d2 which is where I'm at. But my vocal fry/subharmonic goes down to a0 (or lower but app tuners bottom out so idk). So if you can do vocal fry you can access like an octave and a half under your range

@@samuelnulman2238, you are correct, a standard bass ends at about D2 or C2, with some pushing to B1. To even be considered a bass requires reaching E2 in chest voice with vocal weight. My normal speaking voice is around an A1 (about the same as Geoff; I just wish I had his richness).

@@johndeeregreen4592 thats not a genuine bass then. most higher baritones can hit C2 and B1. Jonathan Young has a A1 for example. And Geoff is also a lower baritone, not even a bass baritone i believe.

Actually same note three times. G1. First sub-harmonic, then the two following (midway and last note) actually chest-fry voice. I think Geoff went even beyond "My Mother told M"e at the end!

@@NathanJ-E Pretty sure Geoff knows what chest fry is if he studies Tim Foust. Just not as emphasized as the latter does (but much clearer overall). Though I admit the "chest fry" bit others commented about this and just took their word for it Geoff applying here. So could be chest voice plus larynx dropping.

"I am not prepared." None of us are. Ever. We may think we are sometimes, but we are never truly ready for Geoff's bass. So, don't worry, you're not the only one. I do have to say, I'm _very_ glad that he did this song. I hate to have to keep dissing Tim and Peter's cover of the song, but whenever I hear that one, my brain gets stuck on Tim's southern accent.
