"Tibbers doesn't have powers" Tibbers is literally a powerful demon called Tybaulk (Check Legends of Runeterra) and one of the beasts under Mordekaiser. Annie is a mage. To put it simply, Tibbers has powers, except it is sealed inside the bear doll.

Also, tybaulk was controlled by annie's mom for a while, then after she died, annie started controlling it.

@@chrishaven1489 well technically, Annie's powers are from Tybaulk the reason it's fire based. The only reason why Annie can control it is because she is from a family of mages. So either way, he is still wrong about it.

The thing about Annie's cinematic is that Tibbers really is protecting her. I believe Tibbers only comes out when Annie is feeling unsafe which is so sad. She never really felt safe and a part of their new family :(

Yeah, I think her mother trapped Tybaulk inside Tibbers, cause Tybaulk was originally inside of her, then Annie grew attach to Tibbers, so she keeps him with her She can't do magic without Tibbers, and Tibbers can't do shit without her

And Tybaulk served Mordekaiser alongside other demons like Raum and the other shadow demon that probably is the one connected to Zed's shadow magic

Zed is not evil he just uses unconventional means to protect his home

​@@louisss70 That was always an intresting ide to go for the darkin all being locked into diffrent weapons. The ide is not new but its an intresting way to go so even if u defeat the caracter u still need to destroy the weapon itself.

Aatrox (the big red sword guy) is not a demon , he is a warrior who ascended to godly powers and then became corrupted by void powers. Skin sets in league are alternative version of champions that exist in other timelines/universes

That last one was to hype up the 2018 Worlds, but what you're seeing was the journey of the 2017 champion (Ambition, from the Samsung Galaxy team). They've already played these characters so even if people changed their mains it wouldn't matter. There are A LOT of easter eggs and references in that video, both to the game, skins, players and events from the previous world championships. Like in 29:44 when he's running in that valey with those huge statues. Every year the world champions can each choose a character to get a skin themed for their team. Those huge statues in the back are the champions he and his team chose.

The music famously isn't copyright striked, so I'm very surprised it got hit? Seen a good dozen reactions to that one also.

Annies lore is updated now and she can control her powers now. However from the release of the game untill not to long ago Annie hade no ide how to use her powers they suddenly just combusted as she got angry and very emotional. The lore about Annie was that her mother was a magical witch and Annie inherited alot of power from her. When Annie was really young, baby young she got very sick and for some reson she never got better to the point that her life was in danger. Her mother being a witch tried everything to cure Annie but nothing worked and 1 night her mother walked out of the house and she was never seen again. The morning after Annie woke up completely fine, it was believed that she did something magical to the extreme to save Annie but as a result it would cost the mother her life. The main reson why Annie is so protective of Tibbers is becouse this teddy was the last thing she got from her mother before she disappeared. It is also believed by her mother doing what she did she also binded her soul/spirit into Tibbers as a way to constantly be able to protect Annie. If u were to look at the scene when Tibbers sort of comes to life near the end u can se flames appearing that looks very simular to a human shape, this is belived to be her mother coming to protect Annie whenever she is in any kind of danger. If Annie herself is aware of any of this was always unclear but the fact remains that Annie is desperatly protecting Tibbers becouse of her mother giving it to her and her mothers soul/spirit that is inside Tibbers is protecting Annie at all cost and comes to life when ever Annie is in danger or her emotions gets out of control.

​@@crogor1 Now its official but when this cinematic was released that wasent official and this was widelly belived to be true. To be fair alot of things werent officially confirmed untill Riot really started to heavily invest in the lore.

The whole thing with Tibbers was that, a demon of Fire named Tybbaulk was captured by a mage organization called the Black Rose. They experimented on magic students, and one such was on Annie’s mother. Annie’s mom knew about him and talked with him, but it all changed when she gave birth to Annie. Tybaulk was transferred to the bear that Annie’s mom made. Annie then named the bear Tibbers

Ryze was putting the rune in quarantine. The thing is carved into the petrified trees roots. The tree absorb magic so it keeps the rune inert, as it keeps absorbing the magic it generates.

The cinematics aren't all done by Riot, they outsource most of their stuff. Still, they have good taste.

I mean their lore keeps getting retconned, even in Arcane and LoR. I appreciate someone like Necrit because he's such a lore master

Hman's knowledge of the lore is all over the place.

Riot Games usually outsource to other studios to do their cinematics (Digic Pictures, Fortiche, etc). It's either they will have a concept already in mind and have the other studios create it for them or the studios do all the concept work and execution with Riot supervising or has the final say.

"The climb" is just what league players call going up the ladder ranking and becoming better. Climbing up to the number 1 spot is what everyone who plays ranked tries

The climb I think refers for the gamers as theme of inspiration for them to reach the highest rank or to be the top or best of all.

backstory. Annie is the daugter of the father you see in vid and one of the most powerful witches in noxus, this is where her pyromancy comes from, as others have said Annie's mom before dying bound a shadow demon , Tybaulk, to a stuffed animal (Tibbers) and gave it the role of annie's protector. This is also why Tibbers is such a big deal for annie as it is all she has left of her birth mother.

Just a quick FYI. Miss Fortune does have a name and it is Sarah, Sarah Fortune. And omg this "resident league expert" is hilarious. Also, at this point you must have realized that the Worlds announcements are usually music videos.

There is a full fledged league of legends mmo coming out Necrit has been talking bout it, def give him a look if you want to get into lore. great woprk enjoy the league reactions can't wait to see more

There's a REALLY good video about discussing how Riot would approach a MMO for LoL. A watched it recently and was thoroughly impressed. I'll try to find it and tell you were it is.

Annie is a mage in her own right but Tibbers himself is a demon previously controlled by her mother.

fun fact : Star Guardian is actually based on a subgenre of anime called Magical Girl and Sailor Moon is a part of it. Magical Girl genre started way back in the 50s in Japan with Princess Knight in 1953.

Tibbers does have powers. Her mother (the one who died before the cinematic) was imprisoned by Noxus and imbued with an evil fire spirit who was a minion of Mordekaiser. So she passed this on to Annie. Annie has some of the magic, Tibbers (really Tybaulk, Morde’s fire monster) has the other half hence why the bear protects her. This makes her a target of the evil Noxian schools run by Leblanc, as well as Mordekaiser when he awakens.

Tibbers does in fact have powers. Idk if its canon anymore but Annie's mom gave her the bear and she enchanted it with some sort of protection spell that would protect Annie.

the skins have their own lore as well, like an alternate universe of Runeterra.

So quick backstory on Annie, at least according to old lore I haven't played League in years. Tibbers is actually a powerful demon, her mother sealed the demon into the bear to protect Annie before the mom disappeared mysteriously. However her mom was a powerful mage, who believed Annie would grow up to become more powerful.

Tybaulk is a demon of fire who breaks the minds of the creatures he inhabits and makes them burn themselves alive but Annie's mind and potential talent for magic is too strong even for an ancient force like him to break so now he's bound to her in the form of tibbers.

Riot are working on an MMO. You should check out Necrit. He made 3 videos about how League's lore can be translated to an MMO.

Tibbers does indeed have powers. Because Tibbers is a whole demon that is stronger than demons like Evelynn or Tahm Kench. Annie has potential to be a god like mage. Almost every mage champ in League does. Syndra, Lux, Annie, Ezreal, etc all can't control their powers but they will still kill you with no problem at all. Thats the whole reason Demacia is scared of mages. If Ryze couldn't control his powers he would accidentally destroy the whole world. Luckily he can limit himself and knows what the hell hes doing.

Aatrox is not a demon he is a so called darkin. a past ascended warrior of shurima who fought against the void and got slightly corrupred by it. After Azir the king of shurima at that time was killed. All ascended warriors who were corrupted went insane and started using blood magic. There is so much more lore to them. Btw I can honestly recommend you, when you are done with the cinematics to watch some videos by Necrit. He is the main lore guy/guide of League and you can watch maybe the MMo vids where he explains a lot.

If you feel like watching a Worlds event you should watch the 2022 final round.

To sum up Annie's lore in this cinematic. She is not evil. Her mom was a powerful mage and she inherited fire magic. Her mom died but before she did she left Annie Tibbers to protect her (Annie didnt know about the magic power inside the bear). Her dad remarried to the blonde woman and Daisy is her step sister (the paintings showed her, mom and dad, then mom burried, then dad marrying a blonde woman). Annie cannot control tibbers or her fire powers and this leads to events causing the deaths of all the characters in this cinematic.

About the Rise video and the the players maining a character ... the main character is literally using a different champ in every fight this is shown by him using a different weapon every time ... which is why even players switching champions is not an issue for these kind of videos ... Because Leauge focuses on making the characters recognizable by their main weapon and silhouette its easy to just do something like this when give the player multiple weapons and you are fine ..

Our resident League player needs to read up a little bit more on the lore, lol.

ok dude why havent you explained some of this to them. lets start with the first and that is league has a multiverse. star guardians is not in the main universe, it is in its own. k/da and true damage is in another universe and so on. the second thing the worlds song feature the players and not so much the champs. on top of that pros play all type of champions. there are no pro players that main one champ and there are over 160 champs now. to not tell them this they miss understand many things. btw since you love miss fortune so much did you know her real name is sarah fortune?

Riot likes commissioning small artists and studios that are exceptional. First, it is cheaper and second a way to help them to gain more exposure. These people/studios take this as a chance to “show-off” that's why they do things “more than enough” iykwim.
