There are some videos that show Dreamcatcher learning the choreo. Dance practices are so fans can see the entire choreography without cuts and possibly learn the choreo if they want to. For Dreamcatcher the learning process is shown in videos with "Dance Practice Behind" in the title.

Dreamcatcher has some of the coolest and hardest choreos in the business! Not only do they have very gender-neutral choreo-using many more big and powerful movements than you’d typically see for a girl group-but the sheer number of formation changes is just not something you usually see for a group of this size because it’s so many bodies to coordinate and keep from running into each other. That’s one of the reasons a lot of larger groups have a designated “center,” so they don’t have to change formation every single time a different person is singing. A huge testament to their choreographer Sooyeon. She’s brilliant! Also Sua, the main dancer (if you don’t really know their faces yet, you can pick her out bc she’s almost always the one who takes point/center position for the dance breaks), is insanely talented. She’s even dipped her toe in choreography-she coordinates all the group’s relay dances, did the special clip for their b-side song Red Sun, and several small group special clips like Taki Taki, Havana, Tadow, and her solo clip Copycat. And LOL now that you know BEcause is meant to be a creepy song you can pick it up in the choreo, right? The song alludes to basically the dopplegangers turning their beloved “originals” into dolls so they can keep them the same forever, so you’ve got lots of unsettling moments in the choreo like the head tilting and expressionless faces. Yoohyeon and Handong, the blondes, are actually meant to be seen as dopplegangers in the part where they face each other-which is during Yoohyeon’s line telling her to stay “like a beautiful painting.” Then there’s Yoohyeon’s lift. It is a bit funny when you first see it, but if you look closely you’ll see the two members holding her arms are using their other hands to emulate holding strings, like a marionette! And Gahyeon (the girl with magenta hair) in the beginning does a scissoring motion with her fingers that’s a reference to the horror movie Us that inspired the whole concept.

"but the sheer number of formation changes is just not something you usually see" hear! Hear! Sometimes they literally have to run in order to get to their next position... They're not just moving around to look cool, they are always telling a story through their dancing... Now imagine doing all of that, and sing at the same time! I now, all Kpop groups do that, but our girls are definitely a notch above most of them. "their choreographer Sooyeon. She’s brilliant! Also Sua" These two have such a nice relationship all Somnies should watch their vLive, it should be mandatory in order to call yourself a Somnie! lol... Here's the link, in case some of you guys have missed that gem. www.vlive.tv/post/0-20083667

dreamcatcher \:D/ their choreos are a bit different from a lot of other groups. dreamcatcher is more about framing pictures and telling a story than trying to go hard on footwork or just rely on synchronization. being in sync for fast choreos are actually the easier parts. trying to match texturing such as the arm movements during slower routines is a lot harder. you know when you watch olympic event scoring, each added element adds to the difficulty of the routine. that's what dreamcatcher does in a lot of their choreos, add different technical elements to show a dynamic performance. ripples, levels, texturing, tableaus, etc... can be seen in most of their choreos whereas other groups might only focus on a couple elements. of course what choreo a viewer prefers is really personal preference, but technically speaking dreamcatcher has some of the harder choreos in kpop.

as someone who knows every choreography of theirs it’s definitely one of the hardest ones in kpop! also since you’ve reacted to their newer stuff you can finally react to their horror storyline starting of with ‘Chase Me’ (debut song) maybe you’ll find it cute too lol.

In the dance for BEcause there is a heavy 'doll-like' theme so their movements either have that wind-up or clock-work feel to them as well as a marionette feel to them. That's why they lifted Yoohyeon in that way, to make it seem as if there were strings attached to her limbs. A note for how they come up with their choreos, since these are performed on music shows and live stages I don't think the music video comes into play much when they create them. So, it's up to the director to figure out how to incorporate the dance into the video. Here's a behind the scenes video that actually shows Dreamcatcher learning the choreography for Maison: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p46ZksGdns_Rpco.html

I myself am not a dancer either, but I love watching dance practices. There are certain groups that just baffle me with their dances and Dreamcatcher is one of those groups.

You could always watch reactions from dancers and choreographers as there are lots of those. I can tell you that the consensus is that Dreamcatcher's choreos are extremely difficult and they execute them perfectly. The dance training they use is called the mirror method. They learn the dance facing a mirror so they can see that their position is correct and that they are in sync with each other. The choreographer stands behind them on a chair and calls out corrections. When they start a new dance the song is played at half speed and then gradually speeded up as they learn the moves. They have choreographers. It was one of them that filled in for Handong on Scream and Boca. Sua has done some choreography for the group and for her solo dances.

Before you go and check out the Nightmare series maybe you can also check out Wind Blows dance practice and Black or White dance practice. These are bsides that they promoted but don't have an MV for them, but they have cool choreos.

I feel like you would really appreciate Dreamcatcher’s self made (sort of parody) music video for their B-side Sahara. The song would be up your alley (harder rock sound) and the members filmed it themselves, and it’s hilarious but very clever. These ladies are fierce but total goofs.

Thinking it's cool is enough! As others have mentioned, the dances are for live performances - especially music shows, so often the choreo has parts designed to focus on a particular member during a music show, where they'll have a tight zoom. Then they switch to another member and the first one just walks into their next position.

For what it's worth, I think a lot of InSomnias are just happy to hear a fellow InSomnia (or potential InSomnia if you're not sure yet) just be impressed by the group. You just saying, "Wow they look so cool," or, "It's so neat when they do the slow-fast thing," is still entertaining because it feels like we're just enjoying how cool DC is along with you. I'm not sure if your ear has already been talked off about this, and if so, I apologize for being a repetitive comment. But, in case you haven't already heard: note that Handong (dark blue-grey hair, far left at 9:54-10:14) was missing during the promotions for "Scream" and "BOCA." She initially went overseas to China to promote DC by participating in a reality show, but got stuck when the pandemic broke out, forcing the group to promote without her for a full year. They use a stand-in wearing the white mask in "Scream" to show she's missing, while in "BOCA" they just leave a hole in the choreography, which is why some of the formations aren't quite symmetrical. If you want to hear a dancer talk about their dance practices, by the way, maybe check out OG KPOP STAN. She used to be a dancer and is now a choreographer, so her reactions to their dances are always really informative! Probably not something to react to on your channel (unless you want to ofc don't let a random comment tell you what to do), but more just if you want to know more things, they could be fun to watch on your own time.

Honestly though they are not big so you won't be getting the views, or you can just watch in your free time if wanted to. Anyway thanks for this reaction!
