The fella standing to the conductor's left is Jamie Ray, He arranged this, matching the soloists to the parts they sang, that best fit the singing style of the decade the movie was released.
Thank you for reacting to this stellar medley by the one and only Voctave. I hope you'll come back for more as they have so many spectacular videos to explore. I highly recommend one of their most recent videos, Disney Heroes and Villains as it showcases the men in the group, in a similar fashion that this one did the ladies. Voctave's own Jamey Ray does all their arrangements and as he knows each voice, each part is written specifically for them; needless to say as you heard here, the arrangements are beyond fantastic! The individual solos and BGVs are sung with such skill, their dynamics from a whisper to full volume are incredible. Voctave does not disappoint!
That high soprano is the first soloist, Kate Lott. Those high notes she sings are a C6. She is the queen of the vocal stratosphere.

She does such a great job of filling in that last little bit of those chords.
An 11 person A Capella group which gives them the ability to perform choral pieces - especially Christmas Carols - as well as various Disney sets, movie musical songs, etc.. Many of them perform, or have performed, with the Disney Voices of Liberty. Jamie Rae - the man in the middle of the leftmost group - is the groups arranger.
From Orlando. This group also sings for Disney at Epcot. A couple of them go to my church. Really great people.
Oh yeah! Voctave! I love how they started with the highest register and finished with the alto. You can really appreciate each timber, the brightness and energy of the sopranos and the sultriness and warmth of the mezzos and altos. That arrangement is so tailored to their unbelievable talent. Glad you enjoyed it. My favorite from them is the Great Movie Medley, a fantastic tribute to John Williams’ music. Breathtaking! 🤗

And to think Chrystal who sings low alto is a soprano, spinto or full lyric , with a great chest voice; Jamey ironically calls her a "closet soprano"and I don't think any of the women is even a low mezzo, high mezzos and sopranos

@@gegiocavacci2589 Wow! Really? Her voice is like honey, so rich, warm and full. She is not straining at all. Thanks for the info. 🤗

@@elainecourteau6231 Yeah it's the kind of sound you get from having a well developed chest voice in the low range. Listen to Renata Tebaldi, Mary Martin, both classically trained sopranos, they sound like a lyric tenor in their lows.If we look at modern singers Vanessa Amorosi also has a warm and full sound very similar to Chrystal's, and she's a dark soprano. Btw if you listen carefully to Chrystal's speaking voice it is quite that of a standard soprano, not big and resonant, tbh I think the only mezzo in the group could be Sarah but I'm still not sure cause she modifies her tone a lot.
Love this, but my favorite is "Mary, Did You Know" with Mary Lowry, the person who wrote the lyrics. Voctave is top-notch.
Octave is the term for an interval of 8 notes, eg. a scale. (I teach my students to remember the prefix "oct" means 8.) Voctave is a combination of voices+octave (although they usually perform with more than 8 singers). Many of them sing in Voices of Liberty at WDW but sing as Voctave in their non-Disney work.
It's worth noting that for many of them, their full time day jobs are singing at Disney World, so they are as expert at Disney as it gets
Love watching first time reactions to Voctave. As you said numerous times during your reaction, "Wow!"

if you listen CLOOOOSELY Kate (the opera-like soprano) actually started that note earlier at 6:20 its faint and starts like a "wwwwaaaaaaahhhh" sound that she holds and builds upon til 6:33.

@@TeacherPaulReacts Kate has an extremely clear bell like voice that never jangles the nerves. I wrote before she reminds me of my mother who had a similar voice. She could also hit those high notes and though she only stood 5'1" tall she could produce notes as big as you needed, or as light and gentle as was called for. I didn't know how good she was until years after her passing. So when Kate does her thing I think of my mom and wish I could hear her one more time. Kate's close enough.
It’s Voctave like octave with a v
Give the fellas their turn with Disney Heroes and Villains, then Prince of Egypt.
More Voctave, please!
Present from England! 🇬🇧
You've just heard the best accapella group ever.
