In a vacuum this volume doesn't have any weird lines that stand out to me, unlike Arc 5 for example, which mistaked Greed for Gluttony more than once.

light novel reader here who is extremely excited about this volume. the main reason i don't switch to the web novel is just the comfort of reading pages of a book instead of scrolling down a screen until you get to the end of a chapter. I'm not sure about the quality of the webnovel translations but in general when i tried it, i didn't feel as immersed. the light novel feels like a finalized version so i will stick to it. when i have to wait for the next volume i usually think about beatrice waiting in her library for 400 years. she could've chosen anyone as that person, much like how i could just continue with the webnovel, but i wait and wait. my wait does not come close to beatrice, so my suffering is nothing. about this volume... what a crazy ride. you went over pretty much everything but there was one thing that i would still like to point out that i thought was incredible. meili's consciousness residing in subaru after he read her book of the dead. i don't know why or how this happened. what i do know is that it creates such a terrifying dynamic. meili is constantly tempting subaru to murder the people he had started to trust, just so he could read all of their books of the dead and regain most of his memory. while this is really messed up, it's the fastest course of action. this is kinda reminiscent of arc 4, where subaru was tempted in doing the trials in emilia's stead as it is the fastest and easiest route, but it's not the best. it's very morally incorrect, even if subaru loops afterwards. I'm glad subaru kind of regained his senses and didn't kill anyone, since he definitely would have when he was running up the stairs with murderous intent in that one loop. for the "real natsuki subaru". i have a feeling gluttony is responsible for this. while this wouldn't make ANY sense whatsoever, i think their authority is split in three parts. we can clearly see batenkaitos eating rem's memories, but what about her name? maybe alphard is the one that eats people's names and he was there as well secretly? I'm really not sure, but it would make some sense that gluttony can possess subaru's body. it might be that arneb, the sister has this ability. I'm fairly certain they have access to subaru's full memories, just like they have with anyone else who got theirs stolen. it's crazy to think just how much they know. since he still remembers everything from his homeland, they have everything from his summoning up until now. they probably know about return by death and his weird appearance. I'm wondering how the rest of this arc will play out. sorry for writing so much. i also believe it's just gluttony attacking him. him getting pushed off the edge is just his body getting possessed for a split second, making him trip and fall. this is made clear by the way it was written. anyways, amazing review! you've earned a subscribe. let the wait begin!

That's a great way to look at it, if we compare the wait with Beatrice it seems insignificant ahah (the feud with Yen Press will continue though). The Meili "possession" was extremely creepy! I try to keep these videos within a certain length, but I should have talked about it...

web novel reader here. Witch Cult Translations have very amazing quality translations of arc 1, 3 interlude, and 4-8 which are way better than yenpress since they are edited/reviewed all the time and are actually cared for. for example in the WN, you dont have the very odd mistake of roswaal mixing up gluttony and greed all of a sudden. i also personally think the story in the WN has been a lot more interesting in a lot of aspects (especially in arc 6, i dont think LN has any of the witches' backstories that subaru reads) but there are exceptions like arc 5, i hear LN is better for that one but i wouldnt know

Glad you are enjoying it! In my region, it took about a year for vol 22 to release, so I had no choice but to dive in the web novel, and nowadays volume 23 is nowhere in sight. Remember those who does not have a consistent Re:Zero releases! And may it give you strength to wait, a few months is nothing! Anyway, nice review as always. Excited to see what you think about what's coming next 😶‍🌫

Yes, a few months is healthy to stew on the volumes (although it could be just a bit faster...) Most other languages are even slower than the english release, except the Polish, those guys are eating good 🤣

my copy of vol 24 arrived on Wednesday. finished reading the same evening 😅
