RE POTTING LITHOPS AND CACTI SEEDLINGS
In this video we describe how we repot seedlings at Mesa Garden. We show how we un-pot some cacti and Lithops seedlings and repot them into new soil.
The supplies needed are: 8" tweezers, 4.5" pots, toilet paper, soil and a garden sprayer.
Our soil composition is also described in this video.

I just got my lithops seeds & plants delivered yesterday! They are absolutely gorgeous! I've never been able to find anything other than the plain gray lithops locally, so receiving these beautifully colored lithops with bright markings are just incredible! I can't wait to receive my supplies so I can start growing all of the seeds
Excellent , I purchase all my seeds from Mesa Garden. Excellent service , fast delivery, packaging is outstanding. The Quality of their seed is always Fantastic, with good germination rates. Than you .
잘 보고있어요. 감사합니다. 앞으로도 다른 영상을 많이 올려주세요🙏🏻
I think it would also be great to see more videos showing your collections and to hear some information on cultivation/ In any case , great videos!

Andrei N we will get to all of this soon! We are just getting started so we have lots of ground to cover. Thanks for your interest!!!
I just bought from you guys. YAY! Its nice to put a face to the company.
My gosh, you all have an amazing nursery.
Fantastic! I'm loving these videos. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for showing what you use for your potting soil mix

Nice video... I have found that coffee filters cut in squares work well to cover the holes in pots. A nail with a large head works great for a dauber if you want to tamp the soil down around the plants.

Thanks for the feedback!! We often use coffee filters for our larger bulb size pots. The nail idea is a great idea!! We want this to be a place where we all share ideas about how we grow our plants and learn from each other! This is so helpful!
I would love to see a video for new Lithops owners, showing them exactly what to do when they receive Lithops in the mail from Mesa Garden. There are so many videos out there telling people conflicting things such as "trim the roots" and "don't trim the roots". Or "pot depth needs to be a minimum of 4 inches" vs "pot depth only needs to be 2 inches". And "water right after potting" vs "don't water right after potting".

Thanks for the suggestion! When we get back to making more videos we can focus on your idea. I think it would be a great video to help people.
Nice video! Thank you for sharing! Joyce
Nice! But I wish you'd shown a close-up of how you push the tweezers into the soil -- I have some Lithops I need to re-pot, and would like some tutoring.

Am curious about fertilizing the Lithops plant. It would be very nice if you share a video on that. Thanks for this very informative video on Lithops.
So amazing!!!! Can I use your video in other platforms? U know there are a lot of your fans in China, but not everyone has the chance to see your great works. So I want to share your video to these lithops’ lovers, I will note where the video comes from. Looking forward your permission.
Bought seeds and plants from MG for many years but not since Steven Brack owned it. I'm so happy you guys are keeping it going! I love the videos. What are you feeding your mesembs and how often?

We use the Peter’s brand 20-20-20 water soluble fertilizer and add some ammonium sulfate and vinegar. We put one cup of the Peter’s, half a cup ammonium sulfate, and 4 cups vinegar in a 5 gallon pail and fill the rest with water. We water with a brass syphon mixer attached to the hose at a rate of 1 to 16. So it’s a very diluted mixture. We water our cacti and mesembs with this every time we water. We water the mesembs more in the fall and winter and spring months about once a week.

@@aaronmorerod973 thank you! I've wondered why my mesembs do ok but don't seem to thrive like yours! I've read you DON'T feed feed them more than once or twice right before the growing period. Now I know why mine don't thrive!
Have you changed the composition of the soil? Looks like there is more sand in the old soil and more organic matter in the new one?
good video, but why remove all the soil from the seedlings?
How many months or years have in that moment?
Thank you for nice video, could you please advise the lifetime of these soil mixed.

You can keep the plants in this soil for 5-7 years without any problems.
What substrate do you use for starting seeds? Thanks

We have a seed starting/dirt video. It gives a break down of what we use to make our soil.
I received my first lithops 2 weeks ago, I repotted and now under a grow light. Going on vacation and for safety no grow light. Will they be okay? I can place in a bright area with no direct sun?

They will be fine as long as they stay dry. You can also leave them under a grow light as long as they don’t get too hot.
Nice video how old are lithops you have repotted?

Can the mix shared by u in this video be used for succulents too?

What season is best to repot them?
@aaronmorerod973

For cacti, we repot them in late spring all through the summer. Lithops are anytime fall, winter, spring.
Hi. This is Sumit Dass from New Delhi. I buy a ton of seeds from u. How i do this is i water the soil before the transplant then make small holes with the back of the tweezer and drop the roots in and tamp the soil around the hole.

They are going to be in these pots for 2-3 years so eventually they’ll fill up the whole thing with roots.
