    Love this video. Car paintwork is like the last frontier of restoration that i've never touched (& when I have it hasn't turned out great). Would be so cool to work with an experienced painter to lean about how to do it properly. I've got a 30 year old Mr2 with peeling clearcoat on every panel that I think was resprayed about 15 years ago that I'd really like to do something with

    Just gave this another look Tony and this time there was no buffering, it took us just over 40mins for us to watch this video last night 😂 have to say mate that is one killer finish from that gun it's really flat and it looked like a flowcoat, I've heard a lot about the MP cap that Gabe and Walcom developed and it looks like it does a great job. Stuart and his daughter should be very happy with the car plus you did a great job with the paint mate. I need to sort out my wow primer sometime but done some painting this morning and my heater had a wobbly and is throwing out white smoke from the exhaust, I'm hoping it's just the glow plug or the atomizer mesh I've ordered both but have no heat again 🙄😠😂

Makes painting the shuts easier and removing the bumpers gives you a better finish on them because you get weird airflow causing poor coverage especially the top of rear bumper. Hi Tony, sorry for the naïve questions (I’m a complete newbie). Is the paint you’ve used naturally glossy and therefore doesn’t need a clear coat? If so what if any is the advantage of going this route? And could you add a clear coat if the finish isn’t glossy enough? Also am I right to assume this is a 1k paint? Many thanks Clive

  • @TonysRefinishingTV

    @TonysRefinishingTV

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Clive so any question is fine here buddy that’s what we do , so this is 2k gloss or single stage gloss as it’s also know it is a paint and hardener mix so not 1k , it’s cheaper than base and clear as far as cost goes and also takes a lot less time because it’s a single stage process too , benefits are less cost less booth time and the prep doesn’t need to be as high , think of this as a clear with colour already added , base and clear would give a better lifetime to the job not something you would notice if you had a car for a few years , but does cost a lot more so this is better to keep cost down but still have a job that’s as nice and glossy as a base and clear job hope that helps

    2k gloss is the most cost effective way to do it id usually add a coat of clear but I was already 3 coats of 2k in so didn’t want to risk it solvent popping or overloading

    Hello . I have a question . Do you no longer need gloss or clear coat after the color of this car. What is the solvent of this color? Thankful

    @@TonysRefinishingTV Hello my friend, I hope you are well and successful in your work. I mean, what do you dilute this color with? If you dilute with thinner, what is the thinner number? And does the paint no longer need clear coat? I'm sorry, my English is not good and I'm using Google Translate. Thank you very much
