So I found this out when trying to learn Herigast and emerge rules; a sacrificed creature for emerge does not pay for the colored mana, only the generic mana. This is also the case for colorless mana, you can not spend colored mana or emerge cost as though it is colorless so flayer of loyalties and endbringer both would not be able to come out unless there were sources of colorless mana specifically. In my Herigast deck, I've found it to be worthwhile to use wastes AND mountains in order to take advantage of eldrazi. Game was fun to watch though!

Alternative costs don't let you bypass the commander tax, since you are still casting it from the command zone. You're probably confused because Yuriko, Tiger's shadow can dodge commander tax, but that's only because her ability puts her on the battlefield instead of casting her.
