Very Cool ; I rode a 1973 RD350 from 1974 to 1980 in Florida. It's a different way of life. I wish I had a Dollar for every spark Plug I changed. I wish I still had one but not as a daily driver. It feels like a bicycle with a rocket engine.

30 yrs ago my dad had a friend who used to travel from KOCHI to MANGALORE in the day on the RD 350. Now we have better roads; but, I'm imagining then.. Must've been crazy..

Brought back such great memories of the 80s. The bike was an absolute blast and dominated everything on the road then. And I still find its exhaust note one of the best I have heard till date.But as a student with limited funds, the fuel consumption was a real downer.

It's always advisable to fill 2t oil before filling the petrol so that petrol and oil get mixed correctly while filling up the petrol.

Loved your video RD ROCKS

I was watching the video for RD sound and you fast forwarded the video man. What's wrong with you? 2 Stroke twin cylinder awesome sound. Miss it so much. Collage Days , RD Drum worked great. It was so well balanced bike even with just front brake the bike would not skid or slide it just came to stop.

Dude no need to carry cups and cans This age just go to any bunk ask them to give u the petrol with mix... shell comes with 1% 2% till 5% Rest all bunks keeps separate oil dispensers.. I'm a die hard 2 stroker got 82 and 1999 Rx 100 & 135 .. these Machines are easiest to handle.. Virtually bulletproof Bikes.. Keep it simple

The oil those guys r carrying is not motul that i was having Second thing , the 2t mix fuel most of the fuel stations store is nt having the specified ratio , its india , u know And third thing is , the bike belongs to a mechanic so he know the best I know these bikes r the easiest to handle 😋 , thanks fr the info though Do subscribe n we'll keep each other updated

The ordinary Biker as I mentioned earlier they are virtually bulletproof engines.. doesn't matter the ratio.. nothing personal. Just wanted to point 2 strokes are the easiest yet powerful bikes in the world

Oil to petrol ratio IS important. It varies with the engine rpm. Higher the rpm, higher ratio is required. That's what the oil pump is for. Yamaha actually had patented this pump. It was called, YAMAHA autolube. It is mounted very near to crankcase and driven by engine. So at higher engine rpm it will increase the oil quantity. Also throttle has two cables. One goes to carburetor and the other one goes to this oil pump. It has a valve, that is accurately positioned as per throttle position in the carburetor. That's what makes the Yamaha two strokes special. So even at higher power, and temperature,the engine does not run dry of oil. Oil is mixed with the fuel after the main jet SEPARATELY. But if you remove that pump, the oil must be added in fuel. Two stroke engines must have oil entering from the carburetor. So if the oil is added to the fuel, then it goes to the piston and crankcase through the main jet. Size of this jet is fixed. And you have added the fixed percentage of oil. ( Like 2 or 3 %). So the engine gets the fixed oil quantity at all speeds. This may not be sufficient at higher power and temperature. Piston or the crankshaft bearings can get damaged for the lack of oil. These engines can go at high speeds up to 11,000 rpm. So best to have that pump. Also, if you add too much oil in the fuel, (like 5 or 7%), then the fuel , oil mixture will too viscous. Hole in the carburetor main jet is very small. So engine will get less fuel and hence less oil. So if you put more oil in the fuel, you will still end up giving less oil to the engine than required. Sounds contradictory, right? But think about it, You will see the logic. Hence, company also recommends you not to put oil in the petrol and to ensure sufficient oil in the special oil tank. The oil pump is very sturdy. And works very well without any problems. I have a Yamaha RX100 since 1992. It's oil pump was never opened. It still works well after doing about 2,00,000 km But

@@shubhamkondedeshmukh2673 Hi Shubham. Nice to hear from you. Looks like you are also, a yamaha enthusiast. 😀👍 What do you wish to know? Technically two stroke engines develop more power than four stoke engines , of the same capacity. But the government has put a ban on them for pollution problems. So they are not produced any more. Yamaha RX 100 and RD 350, both had, two stokes engines. There are less moving parts in two stroke engines, so they are robust and easy to maintain. But they consume , more fuel. Additionally, Yamaha two stroke engines had another patented technology called " energy induction ports" . This also gave them additional power. Like I said earlier, I still have that 1992 Yamaha RX 100. It's working well after more than 2, 30, 000 km. Of course, the engine was overhauled 3 times. You should change, block, piston, piston rings , connecting rod pin and main bearings. After that it works well. Also it has wet filter. Filter element should be genuine Yamaha. Also regularly change tyres, chain and sprockets, wheel bearings etc. Gear box and clutch are very robust. I have not changed , even one part from gear or clutch, since my purchase in 1992. 😀😀😎

When I went to buy this bike, I tried my level best to start this bike but couldn't then was told to put in Centre stand and start it and was not able to put in Centre stand also. What a pity? Left without buying it.

Dude there was no need to mix 2t in the petrol in either the rx 100 or rd 350 they have a separate reservoir for the 2t oil. Sorry but you don’t know your 2 stroke machines

Engine should be running , gearing should be smooth , throttle response should be ok bcz its difficult to tune both carbs , rest u need to have most of the thing on the bike to be original And u r getting it for really cheap so go ahead n buy n be ready to spend some real money Bcz its a rare bike n parts r nt available , wish u luck n cheers 😉😉
