RCI Transmission Skidplate Install | 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner

The second RCI Offroad Skid Plate in the set is the Transmission Skid Plate. This gets installed directly behind the Front skidplate.
The one we are installing is a 1/4" Aluminum version. It's quite beefy with some additional strips of metal running down the middle giving it extra rigidity.
The install is very simple, and you don't need many tools.
12mm Socket/wrench
13mm Socket/wrench
Torque Wrench
and maybe a buddy to help hold the skidplate up.

@ 2:29 Are you positive that we need to leave the black nylon ring? On my installation, It seems that the junction between the front skid plate and the transmission skid plate ain't flat. It makes a V shape, just like if the black nylon ring is making the fitting a bit to low. Thanks

Yes you need the spacer, but make sure it is the last item in the assembly (Bolt, washer, engine skid, trans skid, nylon).

@@SnailTrail4x4 With the nylon ring in then the engine skid bolt isn't long enough. I had to sand it down to make it fit...
I just got the RCI skid plate so I could also install the catalytic guard for my 5th gen 4runner, do I need special tools for this? I wasn't sure what you guys were using for this install.

Will this transmission skid plate work with the OEM TRD engine skid plate? I see they have one specific for the FJ but no info on the site for the 4R?

@@h60flyer hi, no, ended up keeping the stock transmission skid along with the TRD front skid. Been happy with this setup so far.

For those of you who stumble upon this question, I received this answer from RCI today: Thank you for your interest in our skid plates. Our skid plates are compatible with the TRD Pro skid plate. However, it is the RCI Integration skid plate that mates up to the TRD Pro skid plate first. It could have, but some people might not be looking for a full skid install, some might only be looking how to install specific sections of the skid plate. If I was short on content I would have released the videos spaced out. I have never released 5 videos (actually 6) in a row before, so this is a test for me also.
